Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 Owners Experiences
Yes, i thought so too, but it doesnt.. Maybe i feel so because of the little skid i get everytime i apply the front brake.. and i can hear it go khrrrr when i apply it.. have you faced such a problem before? Checked the discs, there are no major scratches on it. Circular lines concentric to the centre of the disc though. I dont know if thats normal. But those are present on both discs. And it doesnt feel rough when touched.Originally posted by ani_iceman View PostGear for sale: fake A* bionic knee guards, 3" bar end mirrors. PM if interested.

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 Owners Experiences
well i had some problem on my disc's before, it was when the SVC people told me that the disc s were touching the disc pad. Not sure if you are facing the same issue.Originally posted by globe2ride View PostYes, i thought so too, but it doesnt.. I doubt its the same issue. I hear the sound and the problem is observed only after i apply the brakes, if it was touching without applying the brakes, i think i would have felt it while riding without applying the brakes.. just a thought.Gear for sale: fake A* bionic knee guards, 3" bar end mirrors. Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 Owners Experiences
Is this crazy or what... I had a thankful of fuel @3682 km onmy odo.
Yesterday i hit reserve@4254 km.
Today morning i refueled another tankful @4268 km on odo. But total fuel filled was 13.95 ltrs.
Although it made me happy that my average has not gone down drasticallya i had feared yesterday, but it's confused me about whether this method of calculating the avg is really appropriate?!
I mean what exactly is the tank capacity anyway??
Note: i refueled with the fuel tap still on reserve, if that makes any difference, but i don't think it should..

If you are not sure of tank capacity then you can try one simple and very effective method.Originally posted by globe2ride View PostIs this crazy or what... I had a thankful of fuel @3682 km onmy odo.

Make it tankful, and at this time note down the odo. Ride some kms, say 100 or 150 (without hitting reserve) and then get it tankful again and note down the amount of fuel filled. So now mileage is kms ridden before and this amount of fuel. This way no need to bother about reserve or tank capacity etc

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 Owners Experiences
Yes, I have claculated the average using the method you have mentioned, i have posted the results a while back on this thread as well, it was about 37kmpl in city. But, since im using this bike, I think its only fair that i should know the proper fuel tank capacity, just to figure out if something is wrong with my fuel tank perhaps?Originally posted by gyan_recl350 View PostIf you are not sure of tank capacity then you can try one simple and very effective method.

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 Owners Experiences
Brother yes you should get the oil changed, reason being the mineral oil changes its viscosity/properties quite early..1500-3000 kms and/or 6-8 months depending on the brand and type.Originally posted by TranquilRageGuys, any idea on this?
Will make it simpler.. I hit 3000kms yesterday. Should I get oil changed now (as recommended by ASC, not by manual) or wait a month (kms may go to 4000) when my 3rd service & manual-recommended oil change is due????
Dusty environment, climate and stop-go traffic are also other major factors that change the properties of engine oil.

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 Owners Experiences
That sound is due to misalignment of wheel and/or rear disc pads are rubbing against the disc. Please get it cleared as soon as possible.Originally posted by Niks2072 View PostHey, guys , got my bird last week , sorry could not post , checked and got delivered the bird , since 4 days has past by very nicely or say effortlessly but since morning i am experiencing a sound from rear i guess so of brakes , while i take a turn there is a sound , i showed to the dealer he said it is not major , you can take the bike when 1 service is due, shall i wait till then or get it repaired in service station , he said you can take it to service station even now , so just wanted an advice from you'll.

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 Owners Experiences
+1Originally posted by TranquilRageGuys, please keep checking the nuts & bolts. My crash guard's upper bolts fell off while I was riding and it was only due to some noise on a bad road, that I realised something was wrong. How can both the nuts just open and fall off like that? The U shaped holder was saved because it was hanging in the wires. Thankfully, I spotted it, rode slow and got new nuts & bolts fixed with no great expense. I just hope it is not a design fault, that over such short times and some bad roads, the stress comes on the upper end and the nuts become loose.
Also get the screws which hold the ignition switch tightned regularly... my screws just fell off

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 Owners Experiences
Try to do it on 3rd service as your bike will hit only 4-4.5k kms.......the manual says oil change only on every 6k kms and some may change every 3k kms that depends upon individual......changing every 6k kms is fine enough.....Originally posted by TranquilRageQuery:
I did my 1st service at 500 kms and 1.5 months (hitting both recommended kms and time). 2nd service at 1400 kms and 3 months (hitting recommended time only as kms was 3000).
Oil change recommended in manual is in the 1st (500kms) and 3rd (6000kms) service. However, during 2nd service, ASC told me that they change oil at every 3000kms.
I am presently at 2800kms, while the third service will come up (6 months) in the first week of January.
Should I get oil changed at 3000 kms (which I should cross this weekend itself, I think) without invoking free service, or do it in the 3rd service in January when I may be say at about 4000-4500 kms???

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 Owners Experiences
Reserve is ~3.6 or 3.76 litres......its not 4.....and if you got 231 kms in 4.2 litres.....then your avg is 231/4.2=55...also you have traveled 10 kms in reserve.....but tank capacity varies.....in my experience some have got 20.9 litres tank.....and some have as low as 17 litres or 16.x litres due to build quality of RE not being state of the art......so its highly unlikely you got 55 avg......Originally posted by TranquilRageOkay guys, you may remember our discussions around 10 pages back about fuel tank capacity, last bar blinking, hitting reserve and unusable fuel. Also recently I said I got about 32-33 average in the tankful method.
Now figure this out - I went on a long ride 10 days ago starting with last bar blinking and rode on till I really hit reserve and drove about 10kms more before reaching petrol pump. I filled 6.43 litres in the hot 2 PM sun. According to our old discussions, this means I must have about 4 litres + 6.43 = 10.5 litres approx in tank then. After that, today, after 231 kms, not hitting reserve, I had a tankful which got me 13.7 litres. Which means I still had about 6.3 litres left. So 10.5 - 6.3 = 4.2 litres did 231 kms???!!!! Nearly 60 average???
Where do you think the error is?

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 Owners Experiences
Originally posted by TranquilRageYa, I decided to change in 3rd service only. It's in about 2 weeks and I will be around 4000kms only.
4 Litres is approximate, that's why I wrote 'about'. Am not entirely convinced of the variable of 16.xx-20.9 L tank in the new TB because they have the new automated plant now. Mine's been produced in the new one at least
Even for the old plant, 4 L is a big variable! Anyway, that's an old post. In my latest tankful, I got 36-37kmpl...again mix of highway & city riding.
I have some serious doubts about the tank capacity, my tankfull pf fuel never crosses 14 ltrs. hence i calculate average using only the tankful - 100+km- tankful method.
Last time with mix of JVLR and EE highway, i had got 37 kmpl, and this time i tested only highway riding for 180km on NH4. I got an average of 45kmpl. I thik those figures are pretty good and at par with most of the readings ive seen for this model, but i seriously have my doubts about the tank capacity. Can anyone explain how can we accurately measure tank capacity?Gear for sale: fake A* bionic knee guards, 3" bar end mirrors. PM if interested.

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 Owners Experiences
For accurately measuring the tank capacity, drain off all the petrol from the tank and refill it to the top...that's the only way.Originally posted by globe2ride View PostI have some serious doubts about the tank capacity, my tankfull pf fuel never crosses 14 ltrs. hence i calculate average using only the tankful - 100+km- tankful method.
