Niks, based on my observation and exp I am saying to you, Actually to say there is no much difference in the colors when you see it from far(you can make out the color only when you observe keenly). Don't loose hopes and don't go for cancellation.

Now figure this out - I went on a long ride 10 days ago starting with last bar blinking and rode on till I really hit reserve and drove about 10kms more before reaching petrol pump. I filled 6.43 litres in the hot 2 PM sun. According to our old discussions, this means I must have about 4 litres + 6.43 = 10.5 litres approx in tank then. After that, today, after 231 kms, not hitting reserve, I had a tankful which got me 13.7 litres. Which means I still had about 6.3 litres left. So 10.5 - 6.3 = 4.2 litres did 231 kms???!!!! Nearly 60 average???

Where do you think the error is?
I think the best way to check the mileage is: option 1. drain all the petrol from the tank and refill with 2 litres. option 2. Use a bottle and a pipe, How? remove the inflow pipe from the tank. In this way you will get the exact mileage. By the way had my 1st rear tyre puncture yesterday. Man, you need two person to change the tyre.

1st one is little tedious and you might end up stranded without any petrol pump near by but the 2nd method is indeed a good one. Also reserve to reserve is the other safest, easiest and accurate method of calculating FE

There is another less tedious and pretty accurate method.
Step 1. Fuel up to the brim / auto cut-off
Step 2. Ride for about say 100-200 kms
Step 3. Fuel up to the brim / auto cut-off again (lets say it took you X ltrs to fuel up)

Then fuel efficiency = Distance travelled in step 2 divided by X

This is pretty accurate. Trick being fueling up. But if you fuel up from same pump and same hose.... then chances of going wrong are pretty slim.

Are you sure reserve hits in at 4Ltrs. In manual it is given that low fuel warning is given at 5.5 +- 0.5 lts aprrox.

So assuming that it hits at 5 Ltrs. Then you did 231 kms in 5.2 Ltrs giving you a 44 kmpl.

              @TranquilRage

I have always followed a constant method of refuelling, I fill 10 Ltrs of fuel when the last Bar starts blinking. IN that 10 ltrs, I have observed that when driven only in City, i cover about 330 - 350kms. and when there is a longish weekend ride in there( about 100km ride), I cover about 400-420 km in that 10 ltrs.

This is a very crude way of calculating the mileage,(highly unreliable because of the crazy fuel guage) and to be honest, I have never really tried to calculate it. But I think my observation was consistent with what most people get, about 33 in city and 40 on highway.

I will try the tankful-100km-tankful method before my next ride, and again with city riding, to get the two exact readings.

I think fuel guage itself is accurate.. It's the position of it inside the tank which is incorrect..

I have observed, whenever i park it on main stand, it shows lesser fuel, and when it's parked on side stand, fuel level shown is higher.

Completed 1000kms yesterday. So far no problem. Even the 'keech keech' sound which appeard around 250kms disappeared automatically. And now the engine is running super smooth.

As mentioned in the manual, the last bar starts to blink when there is approximately 5.5 litres fuel left in the tank. And from what the supervisor at the ASC had told me, when the bike hits reserve (hitting reserve means having to turn the petrol knob upwards to 'reserve'), there is around 2-2.5 litres left in the tank. Also, the quantity of unusable fuel i.e. dead fuel in the fuel tank is 0.5 litres (also mentioned in the manual).

And yes, the fuel gauge is crazy. No second opinion about that.

Fitted this Crashguard recently. Either it was hitting lowerpart of front mudguard or the exhaust pipe. Had to adjust it carefully. But lastly it fitted perfectly Click image for larger version

Also:- Though Carbonfibre is associated with sports bikes and not cruisers but still did some Carbonfibre stickering in these parts. Specially the muffler end cap which was looking too bland in my eyes. But now its looking far better (atleast in my eyes)

Will definitely do a short to & fro ride together, do you stay on western line? Weekly commuting in Mumbai is a pain & definitely not doing justice to TB. Try your TB on highway & see the difference!!

Windshield, I just saw once how it looked, didn't really enjoy it & didn't want to spend unnecessarily also. You'll have to clean, keep off scratches, difficult to put under the cover etc. Maybe some pictures of actual attached windshield will help you make your mind.
Yes, nh8 is an enjoyable ride. I've been there once. I've done a mumbai round trip on ee highway, marine drive, worli sea face, we highway, ghodbunder road, couple times. Its really enjoyable very early in the morning on sunday.

I stay in thane. But can easily make it for a nh8 quicky.
