But that is done by mechanic while truing the wheel.
nothing much....... IMHO spoked wheels are more dependable than alloy wheels, alloys crack or bend when subjected to high stress and then u can only go for new ones. From what i've heard, spoke wheels can be repaired even if bent. My only grouse is that even with the standard spoke wheels on my TBTS, i find it difficult to keep the rims sparkling clean. Cleaning between the spokes is difficult when u are in a hurry, plus rust formation is also an issue. Since i can get over those issues with alloys, n of course because my riding is primarily on paved roads, i want to go for alloys. Either way, it boils down to personal preference

Are you putting Tubeless tyres also to your bike with alloys??
There are few options, but never heard of any one's report on that. How RE behaves on tubeless tyres with spoke??

4.8k sounds reasonable but what about quality and braking system ? what size are you planning for ? if you are looking for an 18 inch then a 110/90 rear tyre looks dashing but an 18 inch on the front will mess up the speedo i guess..

If you want to go for 18 inch rim for rear do change the front sproket of TBTS with that of classic 350 ie 16 T . I have done this modification and got 100-90-18 rear tire with classic 350 rim and front sprocket. ride has improved in cornering. Now i am planning for 90-90-19 Mrf zapper for front.

im not planning on changing wheel size. planning to keep 19 inch alloys. According to above exchange it seems that i can fit tubed tyres.

4.8k sounds reasonable but what about quality and braking system ? what size are you planning for ? if you are looking for an 18 inch then a 110/90 rear tyre looks dashing but an 18 inch on the front will mess up the speedo i guess..
why would braking be affected?? im not tampering with the brakes plus im not planning on changing rim size. want to keep the bike as stock condition as possible. dont want to change the tyres for now.

How RE behaves on tubeless tyres with spoke??
i have read in some forum, (cant remember where ) that tubeless tyres and spoked wheels dont go together. Apparently, the seating between the tyre wall and spoked wheel is not firm enough to ensure proper sealing. Maybe it will depend on the model of tyre also

this project is still like a month away, so still doing my research

actually i meant about the front disc.. whether the stock one can be retrofitted to those alloys or not, because they are looking like drum ones. yes, you are correct. they dont go together. tubeless tyres are only meant to be used with alloy wheels.

that sounds good.. but exactly what difference does the 16 T front sprocket make ? what happens if sprocket is not changed after changing to 18 inch rear ?

the only difference it makes is to compensate for rim dia eduction .if you wont change the front sprocket engine rpms will be a bit higher than usual for same speed for eg if you are getting 60 km at 2500 rpm earlier then with 18 inch and old sprocket it will be around 2800 rpm for 60 km at same gear.so if you fit classic 350's front sprocket ie 16 T gear ratio will remain same .that is the reason classic 350 has 16 T front sprocket while rear is same at 38 Teeth. its easily available at Re store for around 450 rs and is straight and direct fit no mods required.

                      • Hey guys..Need your help. I am Sairam based in Hyderabad. I got my new TBTS on 24th july 2012 from the new gachibowli showroom. Everything is fine except one issue- the fuel tank. After 2 days i discovered the lead. Its not serious. Went to the service centre and they found that the nut below the tank was not tightened properly and was leaking there. The leak stopped once it was fixed. But of late the fuel is leaking from the cap. The service center guys have replaced the rubber thing inside and it stopped for a while and then came back again. So they found that the screws inside the cap were not tightened properly and now i am not seeing the leaks. While taking delivery the sales guy told me not to fill the tank full or else the tank may leak. I hate filling the petrol again & again. I need your help guys. I want to do the tank full. Any suggestions?

Nothing much you can do .Try hit and trial by putting extra rubber ring cut from tube between seat of tank cap and tank .I got my TBTS around same time in july this year its cap is also leaking so i cut two rubber rings from rubber tube and fixed it.

                          • Hello All,
I have recently booked TBTS 350. I had some queries.
                            1) Suggestions for any alternate Tire (Ribbed pattern scares me )
Has any one tried this ?
Front: Perilli 100/90 MT (19 inch)
Rear: Michelin Sirac 120/90 (18 inch)

                            2) I heard TBTS gives better mileage better than other 350 bikes. Is it true for a 3 year old TBTS well maintained bike as well ? (reason being I saw some posts in this thread where a owner had complained of less mileage 20kmpl after 2 years)

                            3) Will it be an overkill if i upgrade to dual horns (probably from my RTR ) and a 55W Philips bulb ?

According to me for front go for 90-90-19 mrf zapper that comes in classic because 100-90-19 will make frront heavy.for rear if you want to go for 18 inch rim do change the front sprocket with that of classic 350 16 teeth sproket and rear tire i would suggest is 110-90-18 mrf zapper Q, 100-90-18 meteor if planning for some offroading and 120-80-18 the one that comes with classic 500.because 120-90-18 may touch the swing arm. I have tried the first two options and currently running 100-90-18 meteor because of leh ride coming soon.

the stock front mudguard wont fit after u put a 100/90. you can try the 90/90 of the TBTS 500.
I read somewhere that a Sirac drastically reduces the performance , mileage etc . i'm planning to go for a 110/90-18 Zapper Q
