      Hi all,
I own a Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350cc bike. Done around 790 kms in almost 40 days.
I am hearing (may be Valve) a sound when engine heats up. If you put a small nut inside a Glass bottle and shake it means a sound will come, the same kind of sound is appearing if its heats up. Service guy told that it will be gone once the CAM setting is done after 3rd Service.

I need to know is it true.. because in some of the new bikes , i am not hearing that sound.

It's not about how hard you get hit... It's about how hard you get hit and just keep moving forward.

Your story may not have such a happy beginning... But that doesn't make you who you are... It is the rest of your story... Who you chose to be.

Hi, the sound you are hearing is of the Tappet noise, in the new UCE engines, they have hydraulic tappets instead of the manual ones which used to be present in the AVL engines. Do not worry about it, infact, hydraulic tappets are supposed to sound that way. Even i was very worried at the begining, but when i did some homework and asked around in Xbhp, i was also told the same.

Keep riding, the noise will settle down in a while. Cheers!

                Hello

                i have a 2010 Thunderbird twin spark.

i am planning to upgrade the rear Tyre. i have heard some people have upgraded it to the new Thunderbird 18" rim (The current one is 19") with 130-80-18 Ceat Vertigo Tyre. is it advisable.

has some one done it personally and can share the experience.

IMHO, a tyre built for an 18" rim will not fit a wheel of 19" rims. so just changing the tyres is out of questions. If you wish to change the entire rear wheel, yes, it is definitely possible, but you will have many more adjustments to make, the sproket, chain lenght, Swing arm height, Rear fender, etc. to name a few.

There are people who have made crazy mods to their rear tyres, and those really do look stunning, but I have no idea about the performance effects of such upgrades/mods.

Hope this info is helpful. More experienced members, please suggest.

Hopefully you will get a feedback from someone who has actually done such mods.

                  Cheers!

i am going to change the RIM, the new Thunderbird RIM is 18" and it fits perfectly with a Tyre size of 120/80-18. i just wanted to go a level up and try 130/80-18.

also does it affect the ride quality.

In case you are changing the entire wheel, then you might as well change to a wheel with a 130mm width, to accomodate the 130/80 - 18 tyres. Also, as mentioned earlier, you will have to change the sproket, and adjust your swing arm. In case of a 130 tyre, you most certainly will have to change the rear fender. As to ride quality, I believe you might notice some change in the initial torque, but should not be much, mileage I dont think should be affected, but I am uncertain about that. and ofcourse, your riding height will be lower, which is great if it suits you.

                      Cheers!
