Hello everyone!! I have a silent reader of xbhp for ages. But this is my first post. Need the advice of the gurus regarding booking of a RE machine.. Don't know whether this thread is the correct place to post my query or not.

It was always a dream to own a RE and finally now i have decided to change over from my CBZ Xtreme. I primarily use my bike for commuting daily to my office with a to and fro distance of 60kms total. Along with that I also occasionally go to my parents place which is around 180kms from Kolkata. All these trips are along with my wife as pillion.
I took the TD of both the CL350 and TB350. Since it was the first time I tried to ride a cruiser bike, it took me some time to get used to the handling of the TB350. Personally I did find TB350 smoother than the CL350. Even my wife also liked the looks of it.
But after reading all the posts regarding various problems like malfunctioning of the digital instrument panel and disc brake problems I am wondering whether I should go for the CL350 or not whic does not have any digital components and the rear non-disc brake.
But then almost everyone is saying that the seats of CL350 are not comfortable enough and I definitely do not want a sore butt for both me and my wife.
And buying an Electra has been ruled out by wifey due to the looks. Personally I am also more attracted towards the CL350 or the TB350.
So I would need some advice as I have made up my mind that I will go the RE showroom and make a booking tomorrow.

I do not have any friends in Kolkata who owns a RE and hence I do not even have anyone to personally consult to. Guys who belong from Kolkata please do guide me regarding places from where I should get my accessories and also where I will find good RE mechanics later on. Also please suggest which dealership will be more recommended for the purchase: Austin Motor(Esplanade) or Kolkata Bike Zone(VIP road).

Do you consider 6000kms as new? My bike has clocked the above odo, cant tell the exact figure as my console was changed recently, it was changed at around 5700kms and the new odo is 100 something.

So do you think I should bug RE about this? Or just wait for it to get normal, btw I have one more tb350 in Flickr shade and clocked with 2600kms almost, and its wheel also rotates but has much lower torque as compared the twilight , in which there is almost no difference of clutch pressed or released.

The dealer from whom i booked my Thunderbird says that there is delay from the RE itself as there is new TB350 coming up with a small logo change in the bike?

I would appreciate if anyone shed some light on this. Is this true or the dealer is making excuse because he cannot deliver the bike on time?

I called the RE from the contact number of chennai i got from their official website. The telephone operator said there is some logo change in the bike. Then also wanted to know if anyone knows about this?

Any help would be appreciated.

Look if this problem doesnt bother you in normal riding forget it. but if you want to rectify it change clutch and pressure plates in warranty or without it. This is in most or the bikes I have seen even in two stroke yamaha Rxz. try adjusting the clutch fro its lever adjustment by loosening it more. but in my opinion forget it if it doesnt bother you. Tank needs to be replaced in warranty I got mine replaced two times for paint defect reason. about oil leak picture its not very clear but if its somewhere on top of gearbox near piston cylinder it could be from alternator wiring rubber sealing that comes out from gearbox.

Thats true mate.. Even RE is coming up with new colors.. Saw a pic in the manager's phone today..

hi Sudipto, Go ahead with TB 350, this is the best bike currently from Royal enfield Stable. I bet lots of research has gone to develop this Thunderbird. Afterall this was the bike which revived RE. I am myself proud owner of TB 350. i am the 2nd owner and trust me this problems are minor niggles which can be fixed easily. But the power ,torque and the mighty road presence makes you feel the king of roads.

Yup I too have booked my TB350 last Saturday.. Now is the period of the long and tiring wait.
But not sure which colur I am gonna get. The store Manager informed that RE is changing the logo and colours of TB from this month. They are yet to recieve the new stock. I liked the twilight one but I guess that won't be available anymore.

Great Sudipto, excellent decision. But a agonising wait. Hopefully RE launches more solid colors on the lines of twilight and flicker. Let's wait.Fingers crossed.
