Updates finally came in the official website..
RE has changed their branding for the entire fleet.. It's very strange that they do not even inform their dealer network about this..

Atleast they have not changed the engine. Nevertheless it's still a BULL. THat is the only consolidation for me.
The new logo of CL350 is even more ugly..
Actually I like this new colour.. Wht other options are available for colours now? Have they released an off white??

• Puncture worries on tours

Hi All! I own a 2012 Thunderbird TBTS 350 which I hoped to use for touring places around Bangalore and eventually farther and farther away. A couple of months after I got it, I attended a late night concert and on the way home I had a puncture on the front tyre. It was only then I realized how hard it is to push a Thunderbird with a flat front tyre and it was past midnight and I was helpless but thanks to an automobile Rescue team, a mechanic came and helped us change the tube. There was a second incident a few months later for the rear tyre but it happened during the day so I could somehow ride the bike slow to the mechanic.

I know I can get tubless tyres but that ruins the whole look of the already on-the-edge-classic-look of the TBTS. My query here is, how do people here that tour with bikes that have tube-tyres without the fear of a puncture or in the case of a puncture, how do deal with it? My confidence is badly shaken and I've stopped taking my bike out after 10pm just to avoid the hassle of pushing the bike and struggling with a repairman.

Yes.. Punctured tyre on the tb is a hassle.. But ite not such a frequent thing.. In my 11 months of riding ive faced this problem only once.. Which is something you can live with.

Upgrading to tubeless is. Good idea, but ur right about spoiling thr looks. Hence the answer as I had posted few pages back in this thread, is to get the new continental gt wheels installed.. They are tubeless but maintains the spoked wheel..

I'm doing that for my rear tyre as soon as I've saved enuf money to do so..

Hope this helps.

Cheers!

How much is the continental gt rear tyre set costing you?

Probably the tyres have enough worn on them to get punctures this often, you can the change the tyres with tuff up tubes or use slime, it will take care of the smaller punctures and give you enough confidence.

Who do the RE people consult before doing something like this, designing the logos, decidng the colours etc. Wouldn't it be prudent for somebody from their product team scan through these forums where we have so many users who actually use their products and give first hand, on ground updates about what we like and what actually needs improvement. The forum on the RE official site is useless and again I guess hardly anybody uses it or reads it.

If you see other classic old motorcycle companies, they've all eventually evolved keeping the old look/design with slight modifications and technical improvements and modern additions to their classic bikes. I guess that's what keeps the companies alive and get more new generation customers coming in.

As I mentioned, the punctures happened within the first year and both times because of what looked to me as fresh nails (suspecting some kind of foul play ). I am fpr the idea of these special tubes and liquids but has anyone used them succesfully without any other consequences? Is it a better option to learn changing tubes on the go?

The only best thing about this new logo is that it looks best on Bullet standard. Still preserves its vintage look. Hopefully RE reconsiders it decision and is back with Old logo. Agree with parimal that RE forum is useless. Difficult to traverse and get the actual answers. Not sure if its moderated or not

Frds, just wanted to check if we can fix knee pads on the fuel tank of TB? I think it would look cool. Wanted to check if anyone has done it before. How are the knee pads mounted? is it via screws or glue. I hope its latter

Think it's glue.
Thanks Tranquil, let me check if it can be done. Would add that Xtra punch to the bull

I own a 2005 RE Thunderbird (350 cc).

So far for 9 years; I have been using the stock MRF NyloGrip 3.50-19 rear tyre; and MRF Nylogrip ribbed 3.25-19 in front. Both these tyres were my most trusted buddies for 60K kims it rotated for me on all the freaking surfaces.

Although, front ribbed tyre still has quite a bit of juice in it and can go on for one or two more years; recently the rear tyre had given me some indications (specially on the corners) that it is ready to be retired.

Therefore. I am looking at this as an opportunity for a change in terms of a 19inch tyre manufactured by other than MRF. Further to this thoughts, I am having following questions -

1. I have shortlisted Dunlop Unigrip; TVS ATT350 (just because it is 6 PLY) and CEAT secura Sport. Which one would you prioritize?
2. However, I have also been thinking to downsize the rear tyre from stock 3.50 to a shade slimmer 3.25.
a. Would this downsizing result in less control?
b. Would this tyre retire quickly; being in smaller capacity?
c. Would this tyre be the same (as stock 3.50) on wet roads, tight corners, long curves?
d. Would that suit the ergonomics of Thunderbird which is longer than usual bikes?

I would appreciate if you put your thoughts for the above doubts dancing in my head.

Thank you in advance.
