I always thought Teflon coating is good for bike's health. Never did it for my CBZ though. Teflon coating protects against minor scratches.
But, how do we know if it is original or duplicate?
Also, I am told that Teflon coating is not of much use in monsoon. Teflon coating is washed away in rains. I always thought the other way round!
I suggest that Teflon coating would be better during first servicing. It will help to smoothen out few minor scratches, if any.

The dealer charges around 1500 for crash guard. But, outside would be slightly cheaper. But, I intend to buy it from the dealer, if suitable is available.

Congrats for TB!
And good luck for the wait :-)

After waiting for more than two months I will be getting my thunderbird in couple of days. The showroom guys have not confirmed the date yet but as I have got messages from RTO and Insurance company, hope I'll get it soon.
I was silent reader of xbhp threads.
But as I need some information I am writing this post.
My queries are-
1) Do I need to do the teflon coating on my bike befire delivery?
2) What is the cost of leg guard/crash guard outside?
The showroom guys are charging me 4500 bucks for teflon coating and crash guard.

Hey nishith,

Congrats on your new ride man!!

1. Regarding Teflon, firstly Let me ask you which color have u booked?
Lighting or Marine - yes.. You can go for Teflon But if it's 'Stone', its a big NO. You cannot do Teflon coating over a matte finished surface.
Teflon does protect the surface against minor scratches that can occur during to repeated rubbing of dust, or from those sticky black thingy you find when parked under trees shade for a long.
I wouldn't recommend Teflon to be done by RE guys itself though . It's better to do it outside where you can also watch it getting done. You could opt for Teflon from the brand 3M, which is pretty good in quality. Once Teflon coated avoid giving at bike at local bike wash centers , as they at times use diesel for glossy finish which could harm the coating as well as the paint.

2. Crash guards are available outside at different price range. Incase your opting for a chrome finish guard, I'd suggest to go for a stainless steel crash guards as it is rustproof.

Congrats once again and do post pics once you've receive your bird

Hi Folks

I Have Recently Booked A TBTS 350 Lightning With The Dealer Quoting A 3 Months Waiting Period. I Told The News To My Friends And Most Of Them Were Of The Opinion That I Should Have Gone For The Classic Since It Looks More 'Royal'.
The Point Of Both Having The Same Engine Couldn't Convince Them And Neither I Wanted To Convince Them.
But, Now I Have Started Noticing Every Classic And Tbts Along The Road And Involuntary Drawing Comparisons Amongst Them.
I Was Sure While Booking That I Wanted A Tbts Coz Of Comfort. Even I Somehow Didn't Like The Test Ride Of Classic Except From It's Handling.
But Now I'm Thinking Of Changing The Booking, Though A 6 Months Wait For A Classic Is Too Much Than 3 Months Of Tbts.
Please Advice.

Hi Hitesh

It is matter of personal choice. However, I will tell my reasons to go for TB350.
I wanted a bike for daily commute. Many told me that Classic is for City and TB is for highway.
But, I was not impressed with riding comfort of Classic. I found that it is more or less similar to my current CBZ. Also, I liked the cruiser looks of TB.
I found it more comfortable.
I am not a fan of Classic's thump as well. I prefer toned downed thump of TB.
Also, TB is more technologically advanced with electronic display and LED headlights, etc. Though electronic display has its own mind!
For me, Classic is good but TB is more suitable for me.

You need to make up your mind as it is your money!
Both the bikes are good!

If you are looking for a comfortable bike then surely go for TB, if a bike is comfortable on highways then it will be comfortable in the city also, plus TB looks more updated than classic, alright the engine is same but the cycle parts are different, your friends are saying what they feel or felt about the bike, they might not be wrong but it's you who has to ride it daily, so you should be the judger plus that extra 3 months waiting time dosen't make any sense when you have already booked the bike, go for Tb i would say rest is your decision.

Same was the case with me.....

Let me tell you its your personal choice and dont go by opinions given by other people.....

As both the bikes are quite different even though they have the same engine..... TB is very relaxing and comforting bike and with few more tweaks and add ons like digital meter, dual disc brakes, head lamb light, etc....

While Classic is about the CLASSIC look of his......It purely depends on what you want..........!!!

Hope this helps.....

Hey guys, need some desparate help......

Since a couple of days, the console on my TBTS-500 has been showing the low battrey warning signal. I thought i will get it sorted out this weekend as i am super busy with work. This morning when i tried to start the bike, there was literally no charge left in my battery. When i thumb the starter button, the electric motor tries its best to crank the bike but to no avail. So i guess the battery has gone kaput.

I wanted some advise as of how can a battery die down so fast? My bike has not even completed 1 year. (It will complete it this september). Can i get this replaced under warranty? Or am i missing sumthing?

i suppose it is an exide battery.. you should be having the warranty slip that came along with it.. Visit the nearest exide centre and they are gonna fix it for free.. haven't you been following the rule to kick start the bike every morning??

Nope, i have been starting it using the self start itself. I was told that kick starting often reduces the life of sprang clutch... Thats y always used the self start.

Congrats nishith .. Enjoy your ride brother.. Also You have received a rare one.. Not many are going to have flicker/twilight black TB with the new logo..
