Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 Owners Experiences
Hey guys
Fellow tbts owners, has anyone fixed their seats or has anyone modified their seats to prevent tail bone pain. I think a combination of stock handlebar and stock seats is giving me lower tail bone pain if a ride for more than an hour.

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 Owners Experiences
I had this problem if I bend slightly during my first 300 kms ride. But if I sit straight the problem got resolved. I just adjusted my bag which was tied at the pillion seat to make my posture correct.Originally posted by Vikram Vijaykumar View PostHey guys

Attached image is from Team-Bhp, the user have fixed the problem by modifying like this and adding Foam 65 ( I think it refers to the density of the Foam). Sorry that I missed the link to original thread.

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 Owners Experiences
Go for the alloys. Alloys are working fine for my thunderbird. My riding includes himalayas and some off roading too. It's my suggestion to go gently on the potholes and while offroading.Originally posted by Funrider View PostHi Guys,
I am facing broken spokes issue on my TBTS 350 and planing to switch to Alloys.
So can someone shed some light on options available in market.
Consider those alloys only which have 20+ spokes, which prevents uneven and sudden shocks to the wheel bearing.
But if you are hardcore offroading junkie, please dont go for the alloys.
For your concern, some good quality alloys are PARADO ones.
Happy riding!!

I mostly see these ones used in Thuderbirds here in Pune. These look good.Originally posted by anirudhkamboj View PostGo for the alloys. Alloys are working fine for my thunderbird. As per my research they are 5500 Gm each, So i guess they will add extra 5 kg to your already bulky motorcycle.

Thanks for the reply, But would you mind telling me the cost of alloy.
Also did you face any problem regarding the air pressure leakage. Which some people have reported in these after market Alloys.Miles Munching

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 Owners Experiences
Yes it add 5 kg extra if you reduce the weight of stock wheels which is roughly around 6 kg for both the wheels.Originally posted by PrinceCruise View PostThanks, so all in all total 10-11 KGs extra is added. Well damn :/

They are working perfect for me.
Parado ones are good. I know the seller personally at my place. He only told me that parado ones are way better than Rado, Erado and other similar sounding ones.
I got it for 6500/-
Other brand alloys were in range between 5 to 6k
And yes when it comes to weight, they are 5kg heavier than stock ones(in total weight including front and rear).

Just ask them if it is the UCE engine or not. If yes then its the same.Originally posted by roadhawks View PostBut the RE dealer at Ludhiana says its different in the earlier TBTS(2008) ,( commonly called japani kit),

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 Owners Experiences
Guys,
I have a 2010 TBTS, run close to 9K kms. The last 500 kms or so, the noise from the head is turning into quite a racket! Especially noticed when riding in B2B traffic. The engine starts sounding trashy, as the RPMs climb it kind of settles down, or may be the Exhaust note covers it up.
I checked with multiple garages, ASC and local ones, have got different stories and opinions. One RE ASC said its normal and to carry on, other mechanics suggested, a head overhaul quoting from 5K - 12K. Indimotard and Motoadda says its the Exhaust valve. Almost all of of them agree the Hydraulic tappets needs to be replaced as well. One mech in Shivaji nagar even went on to suggest doing some lathe work and installing adjustable push rods like the Ol CI engines.
I know we cannot eliminate the Tappet noise fully, but I am trying to at least arrest it to an extent so it doesn't get too obtrusive.
Now my question:
1. I know there are many changes that RE did on the USE head 2013 onward, so is the new head a direct fit onto the old UCE ? (I am not going to change the head right away, I am asking so in case there is a head swap needed I'd rather get the new one.)
2. will replacing the Hydraulic tappets alone make any change ? (folks who did this change might help)
3. I have the Goldstar Exhaust installed, could it have contributed to the wear on the exhaust valve ?
4. A mech suggested shifting to thicker engine oil, his recommendation was Veedol, he had a DS500 running on it and was pretty silent, any one uses Veedol or any other thicker oil ?
Any inputs will be appreciated.
P.S. I did try to scour through the thread but couldn't locate specific answers or may be they are buried somewhere in the 300 odd pages.
