Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 Owners Experiences
I am currently out of town for a couple of days...will post a picture of it as soon as I come back...it belongs to some brand known as tip top or top off or something...not sure...anyways I will be purchasing a new cover just before the onset of the monsoon as the elastic sometimes wears out in a few months as it is inexpensive....Originally posted by lightpower View PostDo you have a picture of it ?

Re: Need help regarding RE thunderbird console panel
Ya, will follow that from now on. Problem is that RE doesn't have that metal plate, but the whole console which cost 6.5k. I'll better get it welded.Originally posted by roadd3m0n View PostCommon issue with thunderbird.get it replaced ..Happens due to excessive vibrations, try to reduce the vibes by following the tips mentioned on this thread.

Seems like the only option as RE doesn't have that metal plate that holds the console, and they are only selling it with whole console part for 6.5 K.Originally posted by HD_Rider View PostSame case was with me. Mine broke because few smarties thought of it as arm/elbow resting platform.
Nevertheless, when it broke I simply got it welded back together by a local mechanic. It's pretty economical and quick.
Thanks Rohan for the advice. Actually, the metal plate holding console got broke for me and then console came off.Originally posted by Rohan12 View PostIts a DIY
Next time when you get your new console PLEASE at every 5000 KM just tighten the three bolts underneath it . I do it at every 5000 KM - Things I noticed " Yes the nuts get loosen up , but not at a alarming rate . I just tighten it with my tools (Spanner) and problem solved ."
Or
While taking the bike to the SVC for your Servicing just tell them to tighten the bolt of the console in front of you - If you can't DIY yourself or don't have the tools
Or
If you don't trust the SVC just take it to any local mechanic they will do it .
Listen to what I say if you want and never in your life your console will fall off . Falling of the console shows that the nuts were way too loose . Owning a RE is a headache but this headache is really enjoyable when you DIY !

What is this pipe ?? P.S - Got it from the internet !
Seems like a good addon. will check it out next time I'll visit JC road, Bangalore.Originally posted by vj007 View PostGuys if you'll want to reduce the console's vibrations substantially then I would suggest you'll to get that console cover which is for barely 100 bucks and is a snug fit...I fixed it on my tb within a month of purchasing my bike as even I got worried by the console's vibes but post fitting that cover it has dampened the vibes extensively...

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 Owners Experiences
Did any one over-tighten the nuts above - The reason the console vibrates is due to reduce the extra vibes that comes to it . Seems like someone over-tighten it which dampens the vibes and caused the metal area to crack out . I don't think you had any accident previously or riding rashly at 6 k RPM - either will cause crack .. Lucky me Mine is still in pristine condition only dusts hovering over it .....Originally posted by NickJ View PostSeems like the only option as RE doesn't have that metal plate that holds the console, and they are only selling it with whole console part for 6.5 K.

My advice do some juggad like soldering it or just complain to the Regional Manager ... One thing what is the silver type pipe beside your console , is it steel braided brake line ? Mine being a 2016 model does not have

Hey Guys ,
I have removed the saree guard and the hooks that came with TB , did'nt had any leg guard - No extra mod only Trip Sticker at the tank - so does this makes the bike illegal ? cause I removed the saree guard and the leg guard . P.S - I don't take pillions with me . So ? (Solo Rider)Alert

Yes rugved , in my new TB I have it , and from what I have learnt from my own it is in here that the old clutch oil is left out , RE has the actual capacity of 2.75 ltrs so when we drain out , we drain out only 2.5 ltr and the remaining 250 ml is left behind in there which gets mixed with the new oil , So I think at every oil change on my bike I think I have to drain out the 250 ml of oil from it from , I dont know If I should do it or not ....Originally posted by rugved View PostIf this is on your bike and if this is some part user should be concerned about it will have a mention in the manual. Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 Owners Experiences
You guys talking about the (Kind of )Triangular round edged metal base plate under the console? If so. RE Service Does/Should stock it. Mine broke too and i got one replaced from service centre for 60INR.Originally posted by NickJ View PostSeems like the only option as RE doesn't have that metal plate that holds the console, and they are only selling it with whole console part for 6.5 K.

At first when i called them to check availability of the part (as ASC is far and i didnt want to come back empty handed) they said that the base plate is not available separately and comes with the console. But I insisted and asked them to put any of the technicians on call, when i explained the location and description of part, he understood what I wanted and he said its available. I Went and got it replaced under 20mins.

Ok. I checked my bike and the same arrangement IS present on it too. I checked the manual and it does mention that you need to open all the THREE drain bolts to drain 2.75L engine oil from the bike. So if you already have figured out the three drain bolts then the one you showed in Pic is not to be opened.
But if you have figured out 2 drain bolts, then the one you found is most probably the third one.
Other than that. One of the old methods to drain any residual oil in RE was to give 2-3 Idle slow kicks with the ignition OFF to drain as much oil as possible.

leech you were right about this. Rohan12 Clutch pressed. Wont advise piston movement at all with oil drained out.Originally posted by Rohan12 View Post" 2-3 Idle slow kick" - with clutch pressed or without it ?
