Is it wise to buy a used TBTS 350?

    Comment

    • Just bought a second hand TBTS

Friends, I just bought a 2014 TBTS 350 for Rs.80000/-. The odometer shows 2900 kms. I hope the experts here will help me out in technical issues.

        Friends bought a used TBTS 350 2014 yesterday for Rs.80000/-. The odometer shows 29500 kms. Made observations as below;

Front break disk is touching against disk plate making screeching noise.

Side signals not working. Pass switch not working. Hazard switch not working.

Kick throws back dangeouaresely and is very hard.

        Low beam not working.

        Tappet noise very noticeable.

Engine stalls in low gears at low speed.

Lock seems to have changed. Keys not original. Must change it.

Please let me know how to rectify all these problems and how much would it cost. Thanks.

I wanted to know how to check the slack of the chain properly. The chain slack is different in different positions. When the rider is sitting on it, on center stand and on side stand. What is the amount of play required.
I am asking this because there is this clicking noise coming from the front sprocket .It does not happen all the time. The interval would be more like a full rotation of the chain. I cant replicate that when i put it on centre stand and turn the wheels. But it happens when I sit on the bike and move it. I have a feeling that its because of a tight chain. I checked the alignment of the wheels. They look good to me. Also not much wear on the back sprocket and chain.
Would be helpful to know if someone knows what the solution.

For the Thunderbird 350/500 the recommended chain slackness is 35 mm and the free movement of the chain should be with in this range (35-45 mm) if its more or less then it may need to adjust. In your case it may be over tightened chain.

              Hi guys,

I own a TB350 2016 make. I am new to Bangalore. I am getting some cluttering noise from chain and I think suspension requires an overhaul. Please suggest me a good mechanic in bangalore who specializes in RE. I am staying near sarjapura road, Bellandur.

              Thanks!

Chain lock has worn out, it makes a tak sound on 1 full rotation, replace it hardly 30 rupees

Chain is adjusted at centre stand only, that slack is given, so that when a rider rides it chain tends to get stiff so that extra clearance comes into play.

Chain is adjusted when bike is on center stand and the chain adjuster on swing arms( LH and RH) should be equal turns and level.

Later by 25th october, I am planning to do a bangalore - mangalore -goa-ratnagiri-kholapur-bangalore ride. My doubt is that will the bike be registered in a mere period of time (14 days roughly)? Even if my registration is not complete, can I take it for touring in to other states!?will there be any problem!?can you please clarify this. Thanks
Got my bike delivered on 23 Oct. As usual showroom guys made a fuzz in delivering the colour I wanted. Finally got my TBTS 350 marine Blue. After taking delivery, I noted that the hazard light feature is been removed in bike, there is no more switch provided for this. Moreover, even the side stand indicator led is been removed from the bike but the sensor(in side stand) is been still provided with. It is funny that the owners manual given to me mentioned both these features. The showroom people doesn't even know why it's taken off. But customer support informed like some govt guidelines asked for removing these features. I asked them to explain which govt guidelines state such, and as usual no answer from them. I was expecting these features in my brand new bike but really disappointed 😞 in being taken back unnecessarily by Royal Enfield. And the most sad part is that no one gives a proper reason for removing the features. It seems new bikes doesn't have these features anymore. 😐 disappointed so much.

They have removed the hazard warning indicator feature from Himalayan also (BS4 version), Side stand warning must be still exist in your bike, may be its not functional due to incorrect setting of the switch located on side stand pivot.

Oh I see. I have the sensor in my bike, but the warning led in the inst. Cluster dome is removed. So basically the side stand sensor is bogus. Don't know why they removed these features.

Would anyone know what is the cost of the whole speedometer/rpm meter/digital display assembly for Thunderbird. My digital display has gone kaput with the Service Reminder blinking and the toggle switch not working. Pressing the switch too hard just broke the rubber beading. I probably will have to change the entire assembly !
