  • Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 Owners Experiences

    Hello guys,
    Love from Dehradun.
My Tb 350 is almost 4 months old. 3rd service is due on 10th of Feb.(3000K ODO)
Imm facing some issues, inputs will be appreciated.
    1. Recently on a rainy day i noticed some mist formation inside my speedometer which lasted for good 3 days. Is it completely normal?
    2. My fuel tank makes squeaky rattling noise from 2000 to 3500 rpm. And yes that is loud enough.Tried my luck to adjust the tank by completely opening and fitting it back but no success.
    3. Whenever I cross some big pothole, khat sound comes from the front end. Initially i thought that my front mud guard is kissing my leg guard but that is not the case. Not able to figure it out the actual sound coming from.
    Please help!!

Check by tightening with rubber washers or complaint to SVC in subsequent service.

The pothole problem seems to be fork hitting its top end. Check if the front suspension is working or not. Sometime if the fork oil is low this may happen.

          1. It happens with all bikes and is normal.

          2. Maybe because of some loose nuts under the tank. Tight it in next service. I had the same problem and the guys at service centre said it is normal. I was reluctant, mailed RE to get things done!

          3. I have the same issue. The only difference is, sound comes from rear. Unable to locate the sound. Any input guys?

Thankyou guys...will force the RE guys for a speedo replacement
Fuel tank still pisses me out....will ask the responsible guys...or will get it done by some local mech.
That khat sound from the front end is still mysterious to me

              • Hydraulic Clutch for TBTS350

                Hi Everyone,

Is it possible to convert cable clutch with hydraulic clutch in TBTS350?

Could it be possible to replace Thunderbird's instrument cluster with the Himalayan one, along with the windshield?

                  Just Wondering.

The Instru Cluster, picks up signals from speedometer transducer and the fuel level transducer. if these two match with the Himalayan's then the you can perhaps use it with TBTS. The other thing left out would be to match Mounting as well as Hazard light switch connection.

THe Windshield however would have to be figured as you go.

People have done it for other motorcycles.

With that being said, most expensive motorcycle companies still keep cable actuated clutch for two main reasons:-

                    1. Cable system is adjustable to your need. With Hydraulic Adjustment is not possible in same way as in cable.
                    2. If you snap a clutch cable out on the roads you can replace it with the spare. If you have a Hydraulic system and it breaks, you are done, you need a complex fix, even more so if the master cylinder develops an issue, and then to bleed the stuff and all.

My tb350 is 4 months old. Coming straight to the issue
Compared to my other motorcycle, the clutch engages very high up. In other words just about when the lever is almost nearing full release.......whereas in case of my 09 karizma, the clutch would enage as soon as the lever is half released..
Is it common with all bullets?
                      What should i check for?

Guys What is the lifespan of Thunder bird rear gas shocks? Lately I am feeling lots of hits to back from patchy roads... Not potholes.... Plus increased vibrations to handle...

Thanks for the reply! Not the instrument cluster, but I'm going to check if the windshield can be fitted on TBTS.

The windshield mount is something I would like to know more about, in case you can figure out the mounting, do keep us posted!

Point no.3: There is a small gap between the speedo console and the keyhole. I suspect the speedo knock into the key thingy. For me this sound wasn't present until the time RE Techs went all Hulk on the speedo console while checking a malfunctioning Hazard Switch.

Which noise are we talking about. There is one distinct tappet noise. It's a bit louder than usual. If you are facing any pickup problem or decompression problem you should check out your tappet and valve push rod assembly. At 50k things may need replacement. There is another rattling noise in the background. Can't make out what that is may be a loose section.

Just out of curiosity is the media recorded when the engine was cold?
