At around 1.5 to 1.6 lacs for this machine is definitely worth it. Comfort and stability at normal speed limits is excellent.

Now talking about the reliability and servicing factor, it is a big question mark. I have my TBTS since 5 yrs and never once faced any oil leakage issues or any kind of hassles. The speedo meter cable tends to cut very frequently but apart from that I have faced just the normal wear and tear. My bike has run around 22,000kms and I have done a few small mods that you can see here on a few pages earlier.

On the other hand; when ever I take my bike to the SVC, I see customers with brand new bikes cursing and swearing over oil leak issues, excess vibrations, rattling noises, lights not working properly and all kinds of various issues. Many of the customers come back again and again over repeated complaints.

So I guess its all about luck when it comes to a Royal Enfield.

Honestly since I brought the RE I have almost claimed 12000 of warranty. Still waiting to get my bike from service. One more daaaam issue and they will hear from consumer court.

If you love the bike just go ahead. When it comes to a Royal Enfield don't listen to your Brain, listen to your Heart!!!

If you take a look at page 214,215 you will see how much I love my bike.

Alright.. Another post after a really long time.. Been 20 months and 21000 kms of a bitter sweet relation with my TB, and I still love it. Recently getting clear of many niggles i had from the bike, still have the crazy console... But that is another post probably..

I am thiking for my bike's second birthday. I will give her an upgraded exhaust. Yes.. I know.. I have lived with the stock exhaust for wayyy too long.... and personally, I have really no complaints about it.. its just that the heat guard is broken from one of the weld points, and makes a wierd rattling noise.. Can get it fixed easily, but no... We need a new exhaust, says Buffy(yes, thats her name)...

So on the hunt for a proper performance exhaust.. I have fiddled with the thoughts of those goldies, and wild boars, and khan's, and sans, and I do not feel like going that way. I dont mean they are bad exhausts, but not my taste really.

Recently came across, a couple of really good exhausts, (looks and sound wise). But as said, no idea about the performance. So the dilemma is between the khalidaro cannon, and Red Rooster performance exhaust. The khalidaro damages the pocket by 12k, and red rooster by about 9k, here in mumbai. I have seen and heard the exhaust note of the Khalidaro, and I had almost fixed upon it, but then came the Red Rooster, which boasts of nice performance boost, with fancy dyno graphs, at 3k cheaper!! So guys, please help me out, here, to choose between these two.. Any feedback will be helpful.

Hello Bro.
Well I don't know about the Khalidaro cannon, but I have pretty much tried all the exhausts on my TBTS. Check my pics on page 214 and 215 you will see my collection and I have a few more lying around. For my TBTS; it is her birthday every month.

Talking about the performance of the free flow glass wool exhausts, no matter which you buy you will end up with pretty much the exhaust note except for the megafone exhaust which is short and very loud. The red rooster boasts of ceramic wool but the note and performance after 1000kms is the pretty much same as a wild boar silencer which costs maybe 3k.

Also these exhaust do harm to the engine on the long run. Your top end speed will reduce and your back pressure to the engine will reduce.

You can fit these exhausts if your usage is limited as I keep changing my silencers very often but make sure I fit a stock exhaust on a long drive.

There are tons of different exhausts for Royal Enfield to choose from. I have 7 in my collection and still after using one for a month, the note gets boring so I keep changing.

Overall what I would recommend is instead of spending 9k on a red rooster; buy a wild boar bend type and a punjab long bottle. both these together will cost you around 4k.

FINALLY my bird has landed.has been a really exhausting wait filled with frustration and jealously on seeing other tbs. But got the call today.have changed colors from lightning to marine and now Matt.anyway really excited to share this news.have read the pdi in the posts.will try to remember it in this excitement.hope to get a well crafted machine.

Hi,
I have completed close to 200kms on my new bike. One more question to ask, while travelling in bumper to bumper traffic the engine heats up pretty much and the idling increases to around to 2k and doesn't roll back to normal, if I kill the engine and start it up it is normal(1-1.5k). Also the clutch is a bit tight.

Should I get it checked out or is this a normal behaviour of a new engine?

Thanks for the warning dude!!! I'm sticking to the stock exhaust forever in that case.. i got no complaints as such.. just the mid and top end power could be better. But Im sure there are other ways of achieving that..

the lock will have two different inlet pipes of diiferent size. One is for ON and other is for RESERVE. since RE doesn't have a dedicated lock we have to buy off market lock which has slightly different sized pipes. So the reserve capacity differs. I checked in my recent trip, I could go 100+ kms on reserve(with lock type inlet).

Guys, I wanted to share one more update.

If any one of you is riding to GOA, Panjim and happen to service your bike at AUTO GUIDE RE ASC Panjim, then ask them not to lube the chain. As they charge Rs165 for chain lube. you can buy a bottle of Roll On chain lube for Rs250 which can be used multiple times

Changing exhaust will lead to problems later on?? I thought of changing it so i get that beat....and not so loud sound...

It depends on your usage. If your bike is a weekend or fun bike then go ahead. If you are going to use it as a daily commute, then I would recommend against fitting an exhaust for daily use. You get silencers starting from Rs:900 and almost all these free flow exhausts have the same adverse effect on the engine on the long run no matter which you choose. So buy which you like and use it when you are in the mood and switch back to stock when you have long rides and excessive use of your bike.

Your initial pick will increase slightly but top end will reduce dramatically. Overall the Royal Enfield's are not high speed machines so what happens is; when you fit the exhaust the bike would be making a big noise and not going fast in comparison with the noise it makes.
