guys.. i have serious doubt about the tank capacity.

i filled to tank full after running ~7-8 km on reserve. it took only 13L to reach full tank..

    can anyone confirm??

      Hi ThunderRider,

The tank Capacity is 20L (from the RE site) and 5.5L is reserve (I saw this in Manual i hope - in showroom they told 5L is reserve) .Does your fuel indicator is working properly?
Probably it might off malfunctioned and shown the reserve and make you to fill the tank. There will a floating mechanism for the fuel indicator inside the tank and it may be stuck somewhere inside and it won't give the proper fuel level

      Thanks,
      Anand.

When you say reserve does it mean the fuel switch was on reserve or just the last bar on your fuel meter blinking?

The fuel mechanism is messed up. I changed the float couple of times and it still doesn't give correct reading.

To know your bikes fuel capacity. Drain all the fuel or run till the bike stops(harmless to try once) carry 1 bottle of fuel to reach petrol pump after this. Then tank up till the brim, you will know the usable fuel capacity. Try the same till the bike hits reserve. This will give you the remaining reserve capacity.

I tried the same on my bike. It was around 19.5lts.

I have around 5L in reserve. But I do not have stock fuel switch. I have installed the one with key. So reserve capacity may differ.

Its purely based on luck according to me, which should not be the case

I own TB350 since a year small niggles here and there but nothing serious of some sorts yet.

                  Anyways nice modifications

                  • warranty issue

                    Hello guys.
This is my first post in xbhp although I religiously follow fellow riders travelogue and discussions. Have learnt quite a few things from here. First a brief intro I should give about me. So here it goes
I Am RITABROTO Mukherjee. Although i am from Kolkata, I am currently staying in Bhalukpong, Arunachal Pradesh ( so if anyone wants to visit here or tawang, feel free to contact me for group riding and stuff. And I currently owna Thunderbird 350.

Now my current problem about which I need help from you guys.I am currently facing petrol leaking issue and when I visited RE service station in Tezpur, they told me it's a manufacturing defect and they can't do any thing but to replace it. Since it's in warranty I decided to replace it. But the fun part is that they are telling me I may not get the warranty because for my third servicing I took my bike 7 days later(after purchase date +- 15 days). Is it true or I can get a replacement?

                    Thanks,
                    Ritabroto

Yeah, It could be luck. My riding is very rash and I do not ride like how a bullet should be ridden, but then I take good care of it. My other bike is a KTM RC390 so I love speed and use my TBTS the same way. I have done all mods myself at home as I have a mini workshop.Click image for larger version

Well, Most of the time. I did my diploma in Auto Engg and worked in my uncles workshop when I finished my high school. All for the love of Automobiles. I am in a different job now. I know in and out of the trade so a mechanic cant pull the wool over my eyes.

I ALWAYS do the oil change myself. The rest of the mechanical jobs depend on my mood, sometimes I am lazy to do it myself so I take it to the SVC.

I am planning to build my own bike someday. Lets see when time permits.

You can find me on the KTM RC390 thread fiddling with her also.

in that case, i have a question for you..

how do you completely flush the engine of the older engine oil?
is it important to completely flush the engine oil?

Brother, the Engine oil is the MOST crucial part in an automobile. I change every 1500-2000 kms.

Now, there is a big prob with the Enfield engine. It is divided into three parts.
                              1) the clutch casing (left side)
                              2) crank case (center)
                              3) Magneto coil, gear selector and stuff ( right side)

All the oil cannot be drained as there are partitions between the three and ALL the oil does not flow from side to side when trying to tilt the bike.
Make sure the bike is really nice and hot while changing oil.
When doing the oil change ALWAYS make sure they remove the primary filter underneath near the drain plug and clean it. That filter collects a LOT of dirt and fine metal paste. If you do it yourself, you will be shocked to see the amount of Metal paste accumulates on the drain plug and filter. The SVC guys sometimes avoid cleaning this filter.

After draining all the oil, you would just have to slant your bike to the max on each side and then also put it on a slope as the oil gets stuck all over the place.

What to do... Thats the fun part with a BULLET

by the primary filter, do you mean the oil filter? or is there any other kind of filter?

the ASC guys do not let customers in the working area. but i try and go in sometime to invigilate.
