        • Guys i am using Motul 5100 for last 2000 km, and it still doing ok. A problem recently croped up is, whenever i try to start the engine with the self in the cold conditions it sound horrible, like tan tan . after two three seconds it goes autometaically. It happens basically in the morning and around 6:00pm when returning from office. But if i kick start it there will be no such sound. Any body face this kind of sound.

** I feel that sound came form the tappets. It is due to lubrication, and lack of oil in the valve area. Self starter immideat start the enging and thus reure some second to reach the oil to the valve area, and so the sound. But in case of kick start, it need to keek atleast two three in the morning, and the oil reach in its position in between.

Is that so, or any body have any other idea? Is that due to the eoil?
What is the use range in km for Motul 5100?
          Thanks

hey techno...the oil i have mentioned is fully synthetic and single ester.. I bought it for 500 bucks - the mrp says 520. I bought it last year for my apache and used for 5K kms...the oil was brilliant...no other word. I felt personally that the oil could have last another 1~2k kms . I was curious and slightly skeptical of the oil at first and then was not willing to take risk after 5k kms. but the mech told me that the oil was good enough and i had unnecessarily changed it.

If you are planning to go for synth oil, try to completely remove your previous oil, change the oil filter and then pour in the fresh oil. All this to ensure best performance from the oil. Might seem a bit over the top but dont we all do it when it comes to our bikes?

I have attached a pic below of the oil can

                • @Sai: Thats the older Competition series of the Motul oils, now this is no longer available. What you will get is only the Factory Line double ester oils.

                        • After going through a gazillion posts on xbhp, I have finalised an Apache RTR Yellow (carb). Despite my reservations against the service, I am sold on the bike's performance.
I was considering FZ-16 and RTR and finalised on RTR as I was looking for performance, am likely to have pillion rider quite often and will be making bi-monthly Pune Mumbai trips.
I am staying in Navi Mumbai and visited Kapoor TVS (Koparkhairne) 3 times and they seemed very unreliable (gave me a sold bike for test ride, very poor knowledge of the bike, no one incharge, not interested in selling). Next i visited Ashwini TVS in Thane and they seemed decent but the dealer wasn't willing to give me Navi Mumbai rate (Navi Mumbai being an octroi free zone, the bike costs 3-4K less). Now I dont mind paying this extra amount if I can get the bike with all the original parts in the right places. So please tell me which are the most reliable dealers of TVS in Mumbai (from Colaba to Vasai).

                          • ^^Am having a similar query to the Chennai RTR owners... I need to get an RTR Fi(for my brother). Will probably be getting it in a month. So I would appresiate it if someone gave me a lowdown on the best service centres and dealers. Am yet to visit anyone except RAMKAY, Adyar and they seemed quite decent. Whats ur call, guys?
