I know about the disco 135. When i went to see it in the showroom, the o-ring chain was clearly advertised as one of the key features.
Not that i don't believe you guys, but anyone know any 'official' tvs source saying this?
also, if it is an o-ring chain, is the recommended treatment of "Grease and SAE 30/40 oil mixed in 50/50 proportion" a good idea? wouldn't an o-ring chain demand a better lube?
also, how does one identify an o-ring chain visually?

"O" ring chains are thicker then the normal chains & when they move makes less sound then the normal chains, if you check closely you will find a slight gap between the outer & inner plates, that the where the o ring sits. In normal chain there is no gap.
TVS has already incorporated the same in Fi & Refresh, but the difference is TVS never use it as a subject of ad like Bajaj.
The cost of RTR Refresh Chain & Sprocket set is approx Rs.750.00

spraying high pressure water to clean is not recommended in the o ring chain...Originally posted by julianpaul View Postalso, if it is an o-ring chain, is the recommended treatment of "Grease and SAE 30/40 oil mixed in 50/50 proportion" a good idea? wouldn't an o-ring chain demand a better lube?
but in this rains i've to clean the chain with pressure water spray to remove all the mud from it and then i lube it with 20W40 oil mixed with kerosene in 20:80 ratio....
not grease but yup tht oil prportion can be used in the one, atleast m using it...
now tht's cheap!!!!!!!!!!!!Originally posted by kauria View PostThe cost of RTR Refresh Chain & Sprocket set is approx Rs.750.00The Magician"

well, i've already spray washed my chain too many times, wonder what shape my o-rings are in now.Originally posted by rennycornelius View Postspraying high pressure water to clean is not recommended in the o ring chain...

about the lube, they've probably recommended mixing grease with 30 or 40 grade oil to help the oil stick to the chain better. and grease alone is too think to penetrate. but by mixing kerosene, you're making the oil even thinner which means that very little will be left on the chain after it runs a bit. but then again, the chain lube that comes in spray cans must be pretty think too. i think thats the best bet anyway. at about 300 bucks a can of OKS, it's not too expensive.

^^ boss dont get angry, I dont have any idea regarding that, atleast I never found any header pipe getting red in our small bikes, If is there any corrosion in the pipe, if yes then may be,though no idea why?
Secondly you replaced the stock Air filter with a KN na, did you reject the carb, if not this is the reason, and soon it will melt your exhust valve.sigpic

i mixed kerosene cuz i found original oil too thick and it was attracting loads of mud and dirt and i found it hard to spray off with water pressure...Originally posted by julianpaul View Postabout the lube, they've probably recommended mixing grease with 30 or 40 grade oil to help the oil stick to the chain better. and grease alone is too think to penetrate. but by mixing kerosene, you're making the oil even thinner which means that very little will be left on the chain after it runs a bit. but then again, the chain lube that comes in spray cans must be pretty think too. i think thats the best bet anyway. at about 300 bucks a can of OKS, it's not too expensive.
after mixin kerosene its less thick and is getting off with water pressure too...

The SVC nearby is 50kms from my home and there is only one MECHANIC, who tightens the plastic handlebar cover with help of 2 feet long pipe, sets chain slackness to 0-5mm. Imagine how idiot he is. Better i will reopen and assemble the carb again.
And secondly, when it got red hot, i was running only outer air filter, and fuel volume screw lower than 3 turns, as i was adjusting it. now at about 3 and half turns, its seeming to be normal.
Though, its normal now, lets see after 2 days of under observation.Last edited by nox2505; 07-15-2009, 08:47 PM.There's lot to it other than saddle....
