a quick refresh did the trick !

Funny console this... once it killed the speedometer while keeping the odo runnin ! but nothin a quick refresh can't solve!
even i have experienced this many times

      • Do the RTR Refresh and FI versions come with O-ring chains? If so, is it possible to change a '07 RTR's chain to O-ring chain?

Yes, but u need to change the entire sprocketing for that as O-ring chains tend not to seat properly in X-type sprockets as o-ring chain sprockets are a little wider to incorporate the chain!

          • Red Hot Exhaust Header of RTR

today, i cleaned jets and sump of my RTR's carb. while i was tuning it up, i noticed the exhaust header had become slightly red hot. may be because there was not flowing air or so.

Please someone confirm is it normal? try engine keeping reved between 5k to 7k for a minute and check does exhaust header is slightly red hot or not. U can try touching it, for checking the temprature...just kidding

damn, a 20-25k ka phatka after just a year seems almost unbearable but that's how the market is i suppose. When i bought the bike i clearly remember telling atleast two people that i had no plans for a resale so tvs was still a decent choice. I guess our plans always change so we should always be prepared. Still, the pain of losing so much money plus having to sell a relatively new bike really hurts. Guess i'll have to drown my sorrows in a nice, long, wet monsoon ride.
i suffered this when i sold my SUZUKI FIERO...
people just wont be paying you more if you have TVS written on ur bike...

they dont care how well it's maintained or how excellent the condition is....

                    all they care is...
                    it's TVS...

                    DAMN.....

                    • The non refresh RTRs did not have O-ring chain cover & thats what they are talking about.

Any estimate on how much it will cost? I have a wider profile rear tyre and want to get rid of the chain cover. The chain cover is also a big problem while offroading.

                          • no idea about how much it'll cost you with complete front and rear sproaket setup but that 110/80 section rear tyre of urs wont be makin any trouble for it......

apart from tht off roading blues it looks bad too.....(chaincover)

AFAIK it's only the bajaj and yamaha bikes that have o-ring type chains, not the refresh/fi.

someone please confirm the source of the information. Manuals have nothing.

edit: checked online. common thinking is 'because it's an open chain it's an o-ring chain' but i remember someone categorically stating that the refresh/fi does NOT have an o-ring sealed chain. just an open cover.

And regarding o ring chain, mine is o ring type. its march 2009 RTR, and my bro's jan 2009 RTR Fi also has same.
