    is there any diff in the carb of first GEN FIERO and the RTR??
    i mean in the jets or in the whole thing, cuz i never experienced this in my FIERO.
    The problem occurs everytime i clean the carb and vanishes after 500-600 kms. I rode 120 kms in a day at 50-55 and got FE of whoping 58kmpl. On regular riding, i get it between 40-45. The carb always get set between 4 to 4.75 turns. mine is right now 4 turns. Will change air filter, main jet and needle with 180's one soon.

    @Renny, i think the carb is same but BS-26 is not sufficient on RTR160 at higher RPMs.


    Note: My RTR have clocked 11k till date.

        What about piston rings?

          Mean either you set it to higher Co level or your engine is drinking engine oil. Check for the smoke in your palms, if it is sticky kind of then check the valve settings and seals. Also check the eoil level, if it is dropped by huge margin then go slap the SC guys.

            58kmpl is hell lotta avg you got.....
            my FI blesses me with 45-50 with all sorts of riding....

            there's one golden pin type thing that runs along with the diaphram,make sure you replaced it properly...
            and with 4 turns you're running rich, so it'll eliminate all the high RPM knock, cold starts and all....
            still i'm not able to find the main culprit of this strange prob you reported...

            and yes one more thing, as you mrntioned replacing the main jet with 180's will make the top end good i believe..

            • My RTR is Young Again !!!!

              UPDATE:
              At 13500 kms, got the speed-o-meter changed because the RPM needle slipped from its ZERO mark to the TVS Racing logo. It had happened once before also, but the SVC guys had opened the meter assembly and reset the needle to zero. It was fine for another 1000 kms till I did a high speed run on the highway. I noticed that whenever I made a high speed run with the tacho needle vibrating like hell, it would get displaced from the ZERO mark. Told this to the SVC Guys and they replaced the whole Assembly. So, after 13500 kms, MY RTR is young again !!!!

              Also got the speed-o-meter housing changed due to cracks in the plastic. Same goes for the chain cover. It too had cracks at the bolt holes. All changed under warranty !!!

              Now planning to get the RTR180's BS-29 carb. Anyone done that? How does that affect the performance?

                Hi All,
                MY FI has come back from 4th service. 3 days back. nothing great about the service. But today morning i noticed the front mud gaurd is giving up paint. flakes have started peel off. what should i do ven i go to service center. please suggest.

                Another problem is my meter goes blank sometimes. Fuel indicators always shows wrong reading. ven brought to the notice of service center they just give the bike back saying there was loose contact on electricals. but i have noticed problem again. what should i say to them ven i go this weekend.

                if they give option to repaint the mud gaurd should i ask for replacement or paint is fine.

                Also meter going blank how should i tell them as the problem is not very frequent. i mean in a week may b for 2 or 3 times. please suggest. thanks.

                    • Recently in my trip to Maharastra visited the TVS service center in Chipulan, Shinde TVS.

                      As my oil seal was gone, they fixed in no time & even lubed my chain, the best thing was that they are using the chain spray, which many of the people in HYD service centers doesn't know. Even the guy told me to buy the Castrol spray not TVS one.

                      To my enquiry they told me that they are using the chain spray from the launch of open chain models & it is compulsory requirement of the service center.

                      Even i tried to tip the guy who has worked on my machine, but he straight away refused to take.

                      They charged 20rs for oil seal, 30 rs for chain lubing & 20 for labour charges.

                      A very spl thanks to Shinde TVS, Chipulan for their immediate attention to my bike & was very pleased with their response.

                              I need the Service Manual for the RTR 160 that has the recommendations and show the functioning and the periodic maintenance of the motorcycle.
