I know that they Suck big time but they have their benefits too, there is a reason for their lack of grip plus I read in Bike india that TVS is working on better tyres. So lets keep our fingers crossed.

      • got my bike from servicing. Had a major problem with the bike. It started acting as if there is no petrol. used to give jerks ans stop in the middle of the road. And then the starter wouldnt start the bike.
The mechanics did their usual stuff of changing oil and brake/clutch adjustment and done...

The issue got aggravated after the service and the bike stopped 10 times in a 8km ride and had to start kicking.

Gave the bike and asked them to call me after the problem gets fixed. This time even he agreed that its a fuel injector problem.

And this time asked them to use TVS synthetic oil.

the bill says tru4 10w30 premium eng oil. is this the synthetic one? costed 190+tax?
He also changed the kit pads of rear disc brake(but i never felt there was a wear out.worked absolutely fine).costed 300+tax

        • Hi Guys,

I was looking for a replacement tube of size 100-80-18 for the rear tyre, but I could not find any. Only 100-90-18 was available.

          Can I use 100-90-18 instead ?

I read somewhere in this thread that it's a synth oil...
but only 190 bucks for a fully synth oil...

How much kms you have covered??
my bike has done close to 11500 and the pads are all good.

            • just 9.9k on the new odo and about 3k on the old odo = 13k . I never felt they were wearing out.The service guy just had a glance on the rear disc brake and said they are worn out and has to be changed.

By the way, a friend of mine with a RTR 160 had come there for servicing and the advisor suggested him to get the rear drum brakes changed as they were worn out too..Might be a sales tactic

I asked the advisor twice to use full synthetic oil and he nodded yes.later came to know he didnt understand hindi and i couldnt explain in telugu. But never saw the word 'premium' in my earlier bills.

TVS does'nt have fully synthetic oil. its only semi synthetic oil. BTW, which SVC did you get your bike serviced.

Generally SVC ppl change the disc pads when they near their end life, you still may feel the brake working fine.

Had been to Susheel motors, kukatpally.
Got my bike back and seems that all my problems were related to the ignition coil.

They have changed the ignition coil and spark plug.Having the bike after a week of servicing and as soon as i left the service center started ripping it again... All problems were solved and misfiring was little reduced.

                        Iginition coil -Rs 886
                        Spark plug - Rs 116

Got the ignition coil claimed under warranty(2 more months warranty left). They did check their system if all servicing was done on time before agreeing to the warranty claim.

                        • Hi Guys,

According to the suggestions from the fellow members, finally I brought Pirelli SD for the rear tyre. I selected the size 110-80-18.

I brought it from a shop in JC Road, Bangalore. The price was 3000/-

The tyre looks nice. The first thing I noticed was that the grip became superb, its day and night difference compared to the stock tyre. Attacking corners became so easy. I couldn't test on wet conditions though.

Here is some photos(Sorry for the poor image quality)

                          • To Everybody:
Guys I am going to take the biggest challenge of my life, Ok, No, I am not climbing the Mt. Everest, but it is much difficult for me to achieve the job.

Returning home I listed the job I need to carry, which is like that:
                            • Open the head.
                            • See the condition of the valves and its seat. If needed will change to a new set of valves and with a set of new oil seals.
                            • Check the piston and cylinder for any scar mark. If there nay need to replace.
                            • And finally rebuild the head.

Now that total job apart from the cylinder & piston hardly cost me Rs.500.00, as I enquire today. I also talk to one of the best valve & head grinder in Kolkata, who will do the valve settings for me, and will charge approx Rs.150.00. Now the main problem is I am unable to find any good guy who can carry the job for me. Practically I do not trust anybody now, after this incident.
Yesterday I had a discussion with my wife and she encourages me to do the whole job by myself. I am also thinking to carry it myself. I will soon started collecting all the tools needed for the job and already have the service manual in my hand. So I can start the job in my own way. Yet to receive the valve and timing settings from one of my friend who used to work in TVS for years. If I will get this, there will be no problem.

                            Sorry for the long post.

** If you find any resources regarding the RTR engine please forward it to me.

                            Thanks
