Apologies for barging in but me too have the same dilemma. How is the Apache for someone who is just about six feet and does 50kms to college and back daily ie 25kms at a stretch with about 2kms of potholed roads in between?

A ZMA-ian posting in RTR thread ? thats great...well the grade of engine oil is 20w40...........as he does touring a lot, so a good synthetic oil wont hurt depending on the usage of the bike

btw.......i am using Power1 racing 15w50, other fully synthetic oils are listed below

If the grade is 20w40, he could go for the following full-synths:
1. Castrol Power 1 Racing 15w50
2. Motul 300v 15w50
3. Petronas Sprinta 4T 5000 10w40

Apache is basically a Track Tool --- but with few adjustments it can be ridden in for short City Rides........Question the RTR Riders who all had done some TOuring in thier Babes... they will tell the story....
Im not saying every RTR Riders has the same problem - but many of them does have the back pain - wrist pain ......

Commuting is all about - reach from one end to another end without any Tiredness.....And i belive RTR is not Fit for that....

Uni does that job pretty well .... and yes my one and only fav commuter HH Super Splendour (my friends bike) you wont feel that you have driven these much KM's of Bumpy road......

I agree that with the clip-ons you need to bend a bit as compared to the executive commuters, but it also depends on your fitness level! Some prefer to use executive commuters as their traffic friendliness is supreme! My friend has an RTR Refresh&I felt it seating&riding position to be more comfortable compared to my R15 in the traffic!
As for touring, you can easily adjust your position on a highway. I use R15 for touring& it is also fine.

Change the oil filter if the earlier oil got dirty... as such, at Rs 29, you can change the oil filter without a thought.

You get your fork cone set checked. In most cases this is the cause. If it is in early stages just tightening the forks would do. If you have seen an oil leak from your forks before this may be the forks are bottoming out.. get that checked if the problem is not with the cone set.

Fork overhauled??? what would be done to overhaul a fork?

I know for a fact that there are many RTR owners over 6' height on xBhp who have pointed out that the riding position is no problem for them. May be they should come back now and voice their opinion as it has been some time since they have the bikes and some effects come out slowly.

BTW, two of my close people around 6' mark own the RTR and do 50-70 KM every day through city traffic. One had the bike for about 20 months and the other has it for about an year. No issues.

Well, you gotta sit in a proper riding position. You cannot told the handlebar with straight elbows - with your body weight on your wrists!

20W40. Try to get Gulf Pride 4T Plus 20W40. Make sure you buy 1liter pack and not the 900ml pack (both are available). Probably the best bet... it is semi synthetic at mineral oil cost and is damn good.

Touring on RTR is not that much bad as it seems as you dont have to use clutch and brakes a lot.

I do tour on RTR frequently(twice, thrice in a month), and that too 300km 400 km a day, and also 70-80 kms twice in a week. I never felt to change my bike or use another one because of any ache.

anyway will be going to service centre tomorrow..to check it.Last time i was in a hurry and couldnt check out what they have done.

can we use W50 when the recommeded grade is W40..Motul 300v 5W40 is available cant we use that.

I have done somewhat long rides on my RTR(around 400 kms a day) more than 900 kms in 3 days..i didnt find any issues with seating or positioning..i love my bike

i rode my buddy's R15 and felt the seating position, size, dimensions, what not, were no different than my RTR..

Even i own an RTR 2007 model and an R15.I think R15 has much more agressive stance than RTR.Though RTR as compared to other bikes available in india is agressive in stance.Though the wrist pain and back pain depends upon ones fitness and liking.If some is used to commuters then he'll find the stance of RTR tiring and painful though for a enthu it'll be allright.Overall its just the matter of time and getting used to the stance.Hope my post helped u guys a little.

I felt riding R15 in traffic is a bit difficult,i cant comment on long distance though.But what i feel is,compared to R15,RTR has much better seating and posture for both city and long drives

I am a P200 veteran who is now using a Gladiator DLX. Both of these beauties are bang on for people of my height. The Gladiator owing to it's tall seat height is quite comfortable for me during long rides. I wanted to know how the RTR fares up against these two in comfort. I took a test ride of the RTR and found that it wasn't much different just that you need to lean forward a bit more. But then,what I dont know is what will happen after an hour of riding.
This bike will be a long termer. I dont want to buy something that I am going to regret later on.
Can any RTR owner who has tasted blood on a P200/Gladiator do a comparo on the comfort levels?

P.S.: It's nice for a change that us petrolheads are discussing something other than performance on xbhp.

hmmn..well i didnt ride the R15 in traffic..just puttered around in front of the house so i couldnt really evaluate much. My RTR is fine in traffic..i like the stance...i dunno everything about the RTR is just right, everything is set up properly and each part does what it needs to do. I cant feel that on the pulsars or other bikes..the FZ left me way disapointed. My RTR is my first bike, so i never rode a commuter, other than my friend's glamour..after i got my bike...god i couldnt even ride it...my body had like melded to my RTR
