you can use a W50 oil. flip side would be a little lower pickup and a possible suffering in top speed... but then, on an RTR you might not notice it much as the thicker W50 oil reduces the vibes and you'd feel the bike to be smoother

you can use the Motul 300V 5W40... it is the right choice. On a little lighter side for your pocket I'd suggest the Gulf... get a little feel of what better engine oils can do by using the Gulf and then you decide to spend more...

    +1 to that...

      • How much does the chain kit cost? And what is a primary gear?
HydBiker was saying R15 chain kit costs 12.5K!

R15 chain kit must me 2.5k and not 12.5k

My RTR is fine in traffic..i like the stance...i dunno everything about the RTR is just right, everything is set up properly and each part does what it needs to do. I cant feel that on the pulsars or other bikes..the FZ left me way disapointed. My RTR is my first bike, so i never rode a commuter, other than my friend's glamour..after i got my bike...god i couldnt even ride it...my body had like melded to my RTR

i agree thr RTR is comfy ridin in city...(though my fiero was way too comfy, thanks to those very high handlebar) it has tht super 'focused' ridin position which caused me troble initialy as i was used to the FIERO's position, but now it feels like perfect.......

                  Do you call that traffic?

It was a complete traffic jam for about 1.5 KM on a 120 feet wide road

                  Left my bike for servicing.

Is it the first time you are changing clutch plates? if yes, they served you well. So is the chain & sprocket.

BTW, clutch plates @ Rs 1000??? are you changing the metal friction plates as well?? Those for Karizma cost abt Rs 1400 and for R15 too including friction plates costs about the same. As far as I remember RTR's clutch plates cost less than Rs 400.

Primary gear... why this needs a change? though not very digestable, I can understand why the sprocket bearing needs a change... it took a lot of abuse.

                  -------

                  PS: Sarvajit, R15's chain costs ~RS 2100 (DID O-Ring). The sprockets cost ~Rs 700.

the prob with the RTR's chain is i have to oil it once in evry 2 weeks and whn the weeks ends i have to wash it with kerosine, clean it up,then spray the WD40, thn have to oil it all again only to say to myself tht i'll be doin the same again shortly.........!!!!

so i wont mind the little noice bro....

Its not just the noise. R15 manual also clearly states that you need to clean&lube the chain every 500kms.&after every ride in the rain! So it would be almost the same! Moreover, even a small wrong adjustment of the chain slack would make a hell lot of noise.
