Id taken Raccoon's advice from the engine oil thread and bought a 500ml can of Castrol SAE90 Manual Gear Oil.
It does a superb job of lubing the chain and at 100 bucks is an extremely economic proposition as well
Do check up with the oil experts Raccoon and KP on the engine oil thread to see if it would be alright to use on O-ring chains.I'm normally not a praying man, but if you're up there, please save me Superman.

no, not on very small ones. moderate to large bumps cause more of a dull, clanging sound. pretty sure it is the cone set based on my previous bikes. not at all like something in the fairing. somewhere in the region of the upper and lower triple clamps. not from very low down in the suspension either.Originally posted by mzone View PostIt was not the handle as I mentioned, it was something to do with the suspension.I wanted to know if anyone else faced this issue? After he worked on it I felt the front suspension to be a lot more smoother than before.
@julianpaul do you hear the thud over small undulations on the road? As if something in the fairing is loose? How old is your bike?

so it's as good as the RTR in maintainance front.........Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostIts not just the noise. R15 manual also clearly states that you need to clean&lube the chain every 500kms.&after every ride in the rain! So it would be almost the same! Moreover, even a small wrong adjustment of the chain slack would make a hell lot of noise.

i use the same 20w40 pil but i put 50% kerosene and 50% oil to make sure it's not tht thick....Originally posted by Puneet1 View Postwhat other Option to use to lube chain instead of the chain sprays ?
sae 90 gear oil / sae 40 oil / engine oil ??which is best ?
ok so i've to stop using it and clean the chain with kerosene instead.....i thought it'll be gettin into the inners of the chain well.........Originally posted by HydBiker View PostWell, any open O-Ring chain is such - catches dirt and can get noisy. Moreover, R15's chain is a full chain without a link. So, unless the size is an exact match you cannot fit it into another bike.
R15's chain is a very heavy duty O-Ring chain from DID. In the cost of this one chain you can buy three Chain-Sprocket sets of RTR. So, just don't mind all this thought. TVS gives good quality spares. BTW, I giess the O-Ring chain kit (for Refresh & FI) costs more... may be about Rs 1100.
If you really want to maintain the chain properly, clean it with Kerosine every 500-800 KMs and apply Adhesive Chain Lube (like OKS, Motul, Wurth, etc). If you want to avoid the Kerosine trouble then pls get a De-greaser as well. They cost Rs 325 each and upwards.
Else, get SAE 90 grade oil, clean the chain with kerosine and apply the oil. May be no better means...
over 80% of WD40 is made up of petroleum products that harm the O-Ring seals and it is not suggested for applying on an o-ring chain.

can't do tht.....i'm in love with the open chains...........Originally posted by onlinesatish View Post
Better option. get a normal RTR chain kit and fit a complete chain cover.

the 'thud thud' noice also comes when you go over to the patholes whn ur handle is loose....Originally posted by mzone View PostIt was not the handle as I mentioned, it was something to do with the suspension.I wanted to know if anyone else faced this issue? all i wanted to tell u is check tht too......The Magician"
