My view is that the air filter and spark plug are the easiest & cheapest of the things that we can replace periodically to keep the engine running well.
        agreed.....

actually i was like is it okay to clean the filter with the soap solution that m doin or the age old kerosene/petrol cleaning is more recommended.....

and will thr be any harm if the outer filter of the air filter be removed to feed more air to the engine....as the RTR has the same FIERO like twin round filters.... (i know it's best to stick with the manufacturers settin' but it's just the thought i had)

does TVS expect that their customer have no other work than to do rounds of the SC twice every week? seriously pissed off...
could anyone here help me on how to escalate this issue? or any other suggestions?

Dude, now at the most u can do this. GO back to the dealer, say that the problem still persists and ask them whether they actually replaced the Fi Unit. If they fumble, ask them to show the unit which was removed from the bike.

They can even show a unit which is from an other bike, but just ask them for name sake.

After all this, tell them, "okay the problem still persists, replace the Fi unit again in my presence"

Don leave the issue as such

the key behind it all is not to rev engine above 5000rpm for a long. as the clearance in piston and cylinder is very tighter, and engine is not free running. and for gearbox and clutchplates, it takes about 500kms to set well. and fuel pump noice is not hearable after wearing helmet. it reduces after 200kms. and if it it submerged in petrol (level above half pf the tank) the noice is very less.

i have already removed one filter on my apache. and using victor with one filter for last 6 years. on rtr, remove inner(small dia and thick) filter.bcos removing outer one will result in floating inner filter. the two filters are good if u use bike in dusty condition & cant clean them between services. I clean air filter on apache, victor and scooty once in a month or 1000kms (whichever early). company provides 2 level filteration considering all kind of situations.

u ask them to change unit in front of u. it takes 10 mins max. fit the unit from well running bike and chk for probs. if the prob persists, the prob may be with sensor or injector. u can do it urself also, if u can get unit from any fellow's well running bike.
                    do the following:
                    1. disconnect battery
                    2. wait for 2 mins
                    3. unplug and dismount old unit.
                    4. fit new unit same way.
                    5. connect the battery.
                    6. switch on ignition and ait for 2 min.
                    7. take the ride.
                    8. do same for replacing.

Even i used to hear a similar noise in my Grey FI but i guess its the same with everybody.
I have another problem though....my bike's engine sometimes dies while still in gear...normally happens in low gears either approaching signals or starting at green. i dont think it is a problem of driving in high gear since there is no knocking...it just smoothly switches off.
I bought it around 2 weeks back and have done about 600km on it so far. No services done as yet.
                              Any idea why this happens??

                                Check the engine's idle rpm.
