REPORT ABOUT HP AIR FILTER

as i have said,yesterday i helped my friend install a HP airfilter on his Rx and after that i couldnt wait to hear that awesome sound again and again ....

a airfilter replacement was on the cards but i was skeptical about the installation because the mechanic old me to remove the air box but after observing 2 breather pipes connected to it i opted out ..but suddenly the sound was so addictive i figured out a way and it seemed like TVS thought that people will do this the main pipe which connects the carb and filter box can be just pulled out .. as simple as anything .. after that just plug in the filter on the carb and volla !!!

changes felt --
1.who ever said ,,, '''i used to touch 130 but after KN i am touching 135'' is a big FALSE
even i felt the perfo has increased but i am 99%sure that this is only because of the SOUND !!
2.i dont know wht .. as soon as i push[slightest touch] the ignition switch its responding very well and didnt turn off
3.people stare at you ..so be prepared its a attention seeker

the biggest VASOOL i had was that
the sound it produces completely eleminates the sound of the engine which is = NO TAPPET SOUND
this is just the sound cannot be heard , not that the tappets have become tight

all the myth that it decreases the low end torque is FALSE .. but i will keep on checking as people say that the sound causes this misconceptions



price is 600.. installation is VERY VERY simple and gives you a self satisfaction after its done :P

no upjetting .. my college will be 30 km away i need to have a good millege
will think about decreasing bikes sprocket teeth for more speed in low rpms

@^^ then make sure a/f mix is right else engine might get too lean and overheat .

That's a good report buddy... looks like it alters the exhaust note big time... if possible could you rev the bike at standstill while recording the sound and post it here?

a small correction

it doesnt alter the EXHAUST note .. it changes the ENGINES sound ..
yeah .. more than standstill the bike ROARS while riding

dude if ur running lean, then be ready to see ur bike's heart getting some serious heart-attacks

running lean will overheat the valves, piston, piston rings, n more...
u will spend more amount of money on replacing ur engine internals than wat u will ever save on petrol.

it would be feasible if u atleast richen the mixture then give up the high flow air filter....

jus for the sake of SOUND, u will sacrifice a lot of things....

why dont u remove air box and fix the filter in that place by hose pipe? u will get better results.

I used waxpol on matt grey. the stickers are still gud and unaffected. and wax coat is thr till today, after about 50-60 washes.

NO OTHER ALTERNATIVE!!!!!
Unless u re-jet, ur rings, valves will get fried and the piston might even seize. Re-jetting will not reduce some 10-15 kmpl. U might loose a max of 2 - 3 kmpl.

if i do that , then a vital part of the bike which is breather pipes will be left open to dust
are you serious ? i thought it reduces 7-8kmpl ..
if that is the case then i dont mind
what is the cost , size , anyother things which i am missing ?
