  • Rear Disc brake performance issues

off late the rear disc of my FI is not at all performing up to the mark, from the starting it was not according to my liking (very mild biting) but nowadays after doing 4-5kms it gets so fried that even a drum brake can outperform it...

    my queries are:

    1. Can the pads of R15 can be fitted, if yes will it improve the "biting".
    2. any other ways to improve the biting of it, cuz after hammering hard rides in twisties it gets fried even after 1 km.

i'm so much fed up of it that i've completely stopped using it.

    • ^^I guess brake fluid is overheating. Checked for contaminants in brake fluid? When was the last time you flushed? Also, are the pads glazed?

i check the fluid every 400kms, nothing like it..

Actually the brake was behaving like this from day one, as RTR FI and RTR180 has very mild biting rear discs, as the co. designed them keeping in mind the novice riders, they lack biting, they need hard pressure from the foot, never gives you positive feeling, one cannot do "apply-leave-apply-leave" technique while attacking a corner and while coming out of it as the wheel keeps on rotating without the braking effect courtsey the FADE..

They get heated up easily and the moment they get heated up they fade so much that you'll wonder that if there are any pads in the calipers!!!! (i've checked this in atleast dozen FI's and 3 new RTR180)thanks to the petal design they get cooled easily but after 1 km of braking the story is same again.

In that case it is like a manufacturing flaw/design. Anyways you can check if the pads return back to their original position freely after the brake is released or they tend to stick to the disc. In this case, a little greasing will help.

r15 rear disc pads cannot be fitted in rtr as i hav the same confusion before so tried r15 ones but they are r not suited to rtrs rear disc assembly.

Enlarge holes of the hydraulic hose mounting bolts. It makes way differance.

When turning the mixture screw clockwise, does that increase or decrease the petrol flow into the engine?
