Had given bike to replace the meter today. Will get it back in evening.Originally posted by rennycornelius View PostSad to hear that it gave so much trouble, i have problems with clock, top speed logger resetting to 160 on it's own and the great fuel bar having mind of it's own.
Y'day inquired for it in MRF showroom, and the price quoted was a bit high than my expectation.Originally posted by rennycornelius View PostFor 90/90 go for the soft compound one that 220 DTS-I sports, otherwise i'll suggest to go for the FZ's front.
90/90 Zapper FS : Rs.1550
FZ's front looked bloody chunkier for RTR. : Rs.1750
Moreover it feels like a cruiser tyre more than sports. What effect will it impart on cornering and nimble handling of RTR?
FZ's 100/80 profile with 52 ply almost matched for rear fitting. I think stock is 46 ply, and Z-FS is 49 ply.
Also, I had seen IRC's tyres as stock tyres in 220 DTSi. Will check out those too if available.Yes....

That's a radial tyre and is of soft compound, it will do wonders in cornering and grip levels.Originally posted by indianz_alive View PostFZ's front looked bloody chunkier for RTR. : Rs.1750

hey am using FZ (zapper fx)front tyre from past 4-5k kms but i didnt find any problem with 100/80 front . And it is better than stock tire in corners, straight line drag and even on brking part bike felt lil bit more stable thn stock tire . yea in the beginning i faced some issue but that was because of wrong fitting.Originally posted by indianz_alive View PostHad given bike to replace the meter today. Its not enough to know how to twist the throttle; you must have judgement to know when and where to do it.

i am on stock tyres on my FI, and i have faced traction loss in 3 conditions
a. Office basements, which has a shiny cement flooring. The tyres always lose traction when i take a turn at anything more than 15kmph
b. Slightly sandy. Have faced many curves, where there are slight traces of sand. and when cornering in these turns, i can feel the rear tyres moving side ways
c. Gravel.. not experienced very frequently, but when faced, its really irritating. its like the gravels keep pushing the bike sideways. Why dont the tyres just go over the gravels?
will changing tyre solve these problems?

The three surfaces you've mentioned will make slicks slip too.(specially that sand and gravel)Originally posted by Tron05 View Posti am on stock tyres on my FI, and i have faced traction loss in 3 conditions

But still changing the tyre (TVS) with MRF will make things real good, specially when you'll be putting that knee down.
I have problem with TVS tyres in wet and in extreme lean, when those sidewalls gets to work, and they squeal a lot specially the front in braking, otherwise in summers on a "DAMAR" road they are pretty good. The Magician"

Bugger SVC peopleHad given bike to replace the meter today. Will get it back in evening.

In morning I confirmed from store about availability of RTRFi's Meter.
They had one. Now I inquired about the progress, they said, "the spare meter was also faulty. You please place an order for your meter. It'll take 2~3 days for bill clearance and another 7 days to ship".
Some mechanic was saying on phone "Meter ki garari gayi, baaki meter theek hai".
Now will have to bear with faulty meter for few more days...

The steel threads under the treads are woven circumferentially (series of circular bands) instead of criss-cross weaving.Originally posted by haxor View PostHow is radial tyre different from tubeless?
I fear this too...Originally posted by Tron05 View Post^ i have been through the meter problem.. the store guy always told me 2-3 days for 2 months.. then complained to the showroom manager and he replaced my faulty meter with a meter from a new bike

At first i thought the r15's tyres were radials. then someone told me it's only the fz. then i learnt that only the rear is a radial. What could be the decision for only the fz rear being radial? why not on the r15 which is more of a performance bike than the fz? is it because the fz rear is super wide?Originally posted by rennycornelius View PostOoops.
i though it is.

Why dont the tyres just go over the gravels? It's funny but the geo on the cbz was rock solid planted even in these three situations mentioned above. In fact, the only time i ever had a scary moment on the cbz was when i went over a small oil slick. i was riding pillion. i barely felt it, but the rider said it was a bit slippery. but still the bike sailed through. i dunno now if it was just the geo or the cbz itself which is a superbly designed chassis. straight off the honda crf150. so i dunno if it will work as well on the rtr. especially since the rear wheel is a 2.15" instead of a 2.50" which a 100 section tyre needs.Originally posted by rennycornelius View PostThe three surfaces you've mentioned will make slicks slip too.(specially that sand and gravel)

My tvs front squeals on hot tar roads too sometimes. The roads which have a shiny, glazed finish.
