I bough RTR 160 HE from Variyan TVS in Pune on 24th Jan and am still trying to get over the pathetic experience i had. Here is a sequence of events that happened -
    1. I selected a Grey RTR 160 HE from Variyan showroom on Baner road.
2.Bike registration took more than a month, despite repetitive requests and me escalating the issue to TVS area manager.
    3. Bike color was wrong on the bill, and I had to shell out some bucks to traffic cop for that. (When I told this to Variya their approach was very casual about it).
    4. As I was new to this bike I wanted to have a manual of the bike so that I can get to know about it. It took me 2 months to get a manual from him. Note that Variyan TVS is just at a walking distance from my home and I used to follow up almost daily.
5.It has been 5 months and I am yet to get a smart card.
    6. I raised a complaint about Variyan at consumer complaints here -http://www.consumercomplaints.in/complaints/variyan-tvs-baner-road-pune-c518235.html
After a week their manager calls me and shouts at me that why did you post this????
7.He did not provide the orange rings that we have around the wheels of the bike. I was not aware of this, when I saw others Apache then only I got to know what was missing in my apache.
    8. HE has a new feature - service indicator, it blinks when the bike is due for service. Mechanics at Variyan were struggling to reset this indicator and after trying a lot they left it like that. Now my indicator blinks everytime I start my bike. It also reminds me of the pathetic service provided at variyan whenever i start my bike.

I am planning to make a call tomorrow again to get my smart card. I am feeling so bitter now that I decided to write this post so that others do not get into this trap.
For all the points above his answers are very casual. Please beware of Variyan TVS.
Which manual are you talking about ? the Default one that has service coupons or Bike parts manual in detail ( i am asking as you said you wanted to know the bike better). And service indicator and all is not an issue , just press both the buttons simultaneously till it blinks red ,then the next time it wont come when you start the bike.and smart card takes time , but 5 months is too much ,follow up on this issue, rest all not an issue.

For Point 1,2,3 << Its a serious issue Wrong color on bill it means they must have made mistake even while registering bike with RTO :- PLEASE CROSS CHECK ALL PAPERS ( TAX RECEIPT , AND ALL RECEIPTS) YOU GOT WHILE GETTING BIKE FROM SHOWROOM . If there is any mistake on that paper it means Your RC ( Smart Card) will also gona be same way .

          6. for point 6
. Its is you who should be shouting not the manager . and i think its time to Shout back to TVS ( Wright a mail to TVS . Give full details of your bike, purchase date etc i think TVS will sure react on this kinda Service. )
Its not enough to know how to twist the throttle; you must have judgement to know when and where to do it.

                      • RTR 180 chain gone bad after just 4500 KMS!

There was some sound coming from my RTR 180 chain, so showed it to SVC in Pune. They told me that the bike chain was gone and that I have to replace the chain.

My bike is just 6 months old and has clocked 4500 Kms. I was also told that it costs about 1300 and is not covered under warranty!

Any advice guys? I think this should be covered under warranty.

What all comes under warranty is mentioned in the manual book. Check if chain comes under it. I replaced my tires last sunday under warranty period.

I checked and it is not covered under warranty. But my bike has completed just 6 months and covered 4500 Kms and it was serviced 20 days back. What the SVC guys say is that the chain should be oiled regularly. This was never told to me.

They say that the chain is open and so needs to be replaced frequently as compared to other bikes.

Hell No ! You need to take proper care of chain in open chain bikes , you need to lube the chain atleast once in a month.I am not sure about ur present condition of chain but from next time lube the chain when it looses its stickyness (or once in month min) You get TVS chain spray (Rs 295 something) just get that and spray on the chain .and enquire this "What is wrong with current chain ? "

Ya, thts what i am saying, that the bike was serviced 20 days back, they should have lubed the chain then. They said that the chain has gone dry.
And thanks for the advice, i will take proper care and lube the chain at least once a month from now on.
