    AFAIK, TVS does have the worst gear box. I used Castrol Power1 for a couple of thousand kilometers, the gearbox functioned butter smooth then.

    I switched to FS Motul next, the gearbox wasn't as smooth but the pickup became real fast and smooth.

          is it similar to the RTR 160 bike ???

              why not.......but do not expect any 0-60 record timings or tremendous top ends.It will be working like a small golf cart or those electric scoots they bring now-a-days

                i had a pleasant experience till free services but after that all went wrong. now my bike is crying for a good service. the problems which are being faced bt all fi bikers i also have them all. still i haven't been answered yet. as the warranty is also over i think i will see the bill or will have to sell it of. which there could be way to keep her. i live in ahmedabad. if someone know any good fi mechanic pls help...

                  Thats strange. Mine was the complete opposite. Once it was paid, my motorcycle came to life (not that it was crying earlier but just that tad difference!)

                    • the problems which i am facing now are as follows(the bike has completed 2 years 3months with around 19k on odo)

                      1. fi tuning is worst. the bike has power loss below 3-4k rpm. it produces phat phat sound while accelerating or decelerating and shuts itself while riding(i fortunately was saved as i was taking turning and the bike suddenly stopped. as speed was less only few minor bruises on arms, legs and back ). this problem has been reported several times but i think there is not permanent fix. cold idling is around 1k. and after a while of riding it stops at 1 tik from 1.(i still dont know where the default rpm must be. u all say 1400 +-100rpm but how to know that please post a pic or something to guide here). i have jerking acceleration.i have to wait for a few seconds for its power to come. and if driven 50 kms in a day it wont have any power till 4k rpm is crossed. so more wastage of fuel.

                      2. from front there is a khat khat sound when i brake or ride on bumpy roads. also while parking i can hear this sound(this is how i came to know initially). also the bike feels floating even in city speeds.this reported last time they adjusted the cone set. now after 1 week of it it started again then i asked them they said some diston in front forks is responsible.(is it true ?). the part is currently not available still i am waiting.

                      3. digital meter is wrong. not showing correct fuel level. 0 to 60 timer also wrong. the speed jumps from 0 to something while parking or removing from parking and also the top speed is 160.
                      tachometer is replaced several times due to not functioning.

                      4.the braking is bad. it feels like i am pressing with wooden pads and the bike doesn't stop. the current brake pads are second one(changed at around 12k for back and 14 k for front). there is also uneven wear in disk front and back. back disc was changed. and sometimes its fine like it will stop in a sec if i asked. this varying is causing concerns to me as i cant predict the bike when it will brake and when it will not.

                      4. there is lot of noise from bike. i reported them several times but they say everything is fine. also complained a lot of vibrations also but i get the same reply that everything is fine.by the time it comes to 4k rpm the noise levels are so high that i think i need to go to higher rpm.(it kind of produces a sonic boom kind of sound if taken over 4 to5 rpms.)

                      5. the oil which i tried till now are tvs tru4 10w30,castrol power 1 20w40 mineral,valvoline 20w40 semi synthetic(currently using it).i feel the gear shifts are harder and harder as the days are passing. at oil change its good for about 100 to 200kms or so. than gets hard. even i toe is swollen with just 14kms of use daily. as college is 7kms away.

                      6. the bike is very hot even after just 5 to 15 kms in morning or afternoon or night. this issue is also said many times but i don't get any reply besides that the bike is perfectly fine.if driven for a hour in city it gets so hot that i have to stop for atleast a few hours before even trying to sit on it. it becomes so unbearable.eg. i driven for around 45 min in city before reaching highway. i stopped the bike in highway and went to drink water and dinner. later when came beside the bike the bike engine was still so hot that i had to wait for atleast 2 hours in the night for it to come to normal. the silencer was dead cold. this happened to me in winter night. so i usually have limited it to max 20kms per day.

                      7. the mileage i get max is around 30 kmpl if i ride it in splendor mode. and my normal driving i.e upshifts at 4k will yeild me around 23 to 25kmpl. i reported them several times but to no gain. i changed spark plug at 15k. as i didnt know the interval for changing it. i asked them to check the spark plug but the usual answer came its good sir. also checked the balance and that kind of stuff. with service center and also tyre shop. both said they are ok. so no alignment problem i suppose. i have to change oil at 1k or max 1.5k. as the oil would have been turned to black and burnt smell comes. which ever oil i use.

                      this are some main problems i face. total cost uptil now is more than 20000-22000rs(include oil cost,parts,etc). without consumables like petrol.
                      i generally have to service the bike around 1 month or 2 months. to get the bike to behave a little normal without lot of noise and to get the mileage(atleast 25 is better if i wait for normal service periods then my mileage with drop to 10 to 15 also.) i always check with fuel to brim then again fill after 7 days.

                      • 30kmpl is too much low for FI....you should get at least 55kmpl @4K RPM driving.

                        • i know. but what can i do ? have to use it as there is no other bike in my house. once they tuned it so bad that it lost its rtr character. the immediate response of throttle. i felt that i was riding some 100cc bike. later and always i insist them to make default setting only. but still not much difference over atleast 20tuneups till now

                          • i can relate my RTR FI to most of the issues you are facing.
                            i have accepted some of the issues and continue to enjoy at higher rpms.

                            1. The rpm needs to be set after connecting the bike to their diagnostic PC. Get it set to 1400 in the service centre
                            3. I got my meter changed during warranty, and again its gone bad.. i just ignore it now.
                            4.For the 'noise from bike', have you checked which part is the noise coming from? If its the chain,You need to lubricate the chain every month, or it would give u a really bad sound.
                            5. Cant agree more..i am using full synthetic at the moment motul 300v 15w50 and still no improvement...
                            6. Not normal..
                            7. And i too did a mileage test after a year, and found out my mileage is only 40kmpl. But your figures are even more shocking..

                              > Go to SVC ask them to connect your bike to Diagnostic Tool they have . Check if RPM is @ 1200-1300 ( On PC Screen) or on speedo Idling shoud be 1.2/3k RPM .
                              2. Ask them to set bikes CO level to 1.4 or 1.6 ( Also note down the CO level it was showing before.)
                              3. A light miss-fire is common in all FI's . But engine should not be stall at any cost.
                              4. Also check if there is WATER in fuel tank .

                              i> ask them( SVC) to Bleed both Breaks i think there is air bubble in Brk lines .

                              ii) Do u mean u hear a whistling kind of noise from bike( Engine) If it is then its a serious issue for you . GET Your bike to SVC ASAP and ask them to set VALVE clearance properly . This is the main reason for Low performace of the bike . for Intek Valve its 0.6 and for Exhaust Valve its 0.8 ( PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG ) .

                              i) again it can be becasue of wrong Co setting ( BUT i think its quite normal ) .

                              i) Again a Correct Valve clearance and CO setting should solve this issue . I get normal 45-53kmpl and if i ride like 100cc bike 55kmpl :P always .

                              My answers are in Bold . I Own RTR-FI since past 2n1/2 year and have clocked 54k kms till now there isnt much issues with this bike . Any way Stay @ SVC itself all the time when these ppl are servicing your bike .

                                thank you for your reply. yeah that is the sound which i am hearing. like something whistling. but will have to tell you that here there is no pc in service center ? and i will this time personally be there at service center this time if possible. due to strict schedule i cannot be there all the day for bike servicing. and can you tell me other problems in which the ideal co and rpm etc can be done with any local mechanic or not ?
