Anything between 35k-40k would be a good buy as it has run less.Originally posted by 111diablo111 View Postguys how much an Apache rtr160 of 2007 model..having single front disc should cost me?..

Do check the service history. And if it has ran for around 10,000kms,the tyre would be in good condition.

I took a short test ride of the Apache RTR 160 yesterday evening. As per the sales person, production of the FI variant has been stopped. So, I got the Hyper Edge to TD. Loved the peppy engine and the maneuverability in traffic. The front disk plus rear drum brake combo was also more than enough for my driving style. My only grouses were the seating position and the vibes [yes, they are still there] at mid-high rpms.
I can live with the vibrations, 'cause city driving won't give much of a chance to touch those rpms frequently. However, my drive to and from office is of almost 50 kms, at least twice a week [I use the bus on other days]; so not very sure if I'll be able to adjust to the seating position of the Apache RTR. I found it surprising that even a person of medium height like me [5'9''] was uncomfortable with the seating position; wonder how 6 feet plus guys ride this beast!
So, the Unicorn is out due to the 6 month waiting period, GS150 is out cause they still aren't sure when the new refreshed model is being introduced, Apache RTR is 50-50. Will see what the CBZ Xtreme test ride throws up.
Cheers,
VikramLast edited by wysiwyg; 07-22-2011, 11:27 AM.

For front tyre use the same tvs tyre or zapper FS.Originally posted by gautam_k View Posthey guys, my FI's front and rear tyres are due for change.
I've shortlisted
zapper FS - 90/90/17 for front
and for rear im confused between zapper Q and C - 100/90/18
i asked for PSD but no one in 5km radius has it
and ive heard Michelins are a bit heavy for RTR's comfort plus Pilot sporty isnt that great too (dont know about siracs and M45s)
Any inputs welcome.
For rear tyre Zapper Q is the best. superior traction and road grip.
good grip on rainy season.
As tire height is slight bigger than stock so it is little bit heavy and you feel little chnage in top speed but handling is far better than stock. Braking at high speed and cornering is much better than stock.
i replace my rear tyre with zapper Q ( RS 1950 with tube). till now no issue.

ok i thought by '2007 model' you were implying the generation of the bike.i still stand firm with 30k. The reason is that TVS bikes have really terrible resale values. And i still dont know why its like that.Originally posted by 111diablo111 View Posti've mentioned that its a 2007 model..10k kms old..
i see. no doubt there are many good reviews for the Q, but there bad ones too (esp with complaints of poor wet grip).Originally posted by Drifty View PostIts from my own experience buddy,I have this Zapper Q tyre on my Passion. Also google it and you will get some good reviews regarding the Q.
Btw, on the mrf website says zapper C comes in only two sizes (2.75" and 3.00") for 18" rims.
I searched for seome info and found this post in the search. Now according to the info tabulated, 2.75/3" roughly converts to 80-90mm.... which is too skinny. If what i have concluded is true then i would have no choice bu tto go with zapper Q.
Am i right?
what about the wet grip? all good? just for comparison how much would you rate Q for its wet grip on a scale of 1-10 if TVS is rated 1 and Pirelli Sports Demon is rated 10?Originally posted by munu1985 View PostFor front tyre use the same tvs tyre or zapper FS.

Hi Guys,
I want to share some info regarding my RTR
Apache RTR 160 Refresh Color Black ( 2009 )
30k in ODO
Replaced Rear tyre with Zapper Q ( 10k in odo) due grip issue in rainy season.
My average speed is 70-90 and daily run in 60km in high way.
Due to rough driving i got low mielage 35-40 km/l and knocking sound in 2-5 gear and decrease in top speed and it take much time to achieve 100km/h . some time i heard loud noise while starting the engine using switch.
so i went to svc and svc guy told me bike needs head pistion work.
after five day i got my bike with bill Rs 5210.00
- Piston ring.
- 2 valve.
- Timing chain.
- Clutch plate
- Pressor plate.
- One way clutch.
and few more parts were replaced.
now my bike feel as new one vibration is less no knocking.
one thing i learn that never adjust the carburetor ideal screw or fuel screw. due to this my one way clutch damaged and it costs me Rs 1100.
if the ideal rpm is below 1200 rpm and fuel mixture is too lean then one way clutch may affected but you can not know about it untill it completely damaged.
when we start the engine using starter if the fuel mixture is too lean and ideal rpm is low then engine does not start and backfire so due to it one way clutch affeacted.
so in morning when we start engine idea rpm is 1000 but after runing it increased to 1200 rpm. so set your idea screw so that in morning time when you first start the engine it must abive 1050
By increasing rpm using ideas screw wonot affect bike mielage.
if the engine does not start at first attemp using switch then donot press repeatedly the switc in this way one way clucth also affected
better to start with kick.
and after 25 to 30k always decarbonize the head and change the piston ring.

As far my experience with the tyre for past 10 month i rate 6 out of 10.Originally posted by gautam_k View Postwhat about the wet grip? all good? just for comparison how much would you rate Q for its wet grip on a scale of 1-10 if TVS is rated 1 and Pirelli Sports Demon is rated 10?
Regarding other international tyre like PSD, IRC you will not get the required tyre size. RTR rear tyre 100/80 -18 in this range you will front tyre from PSD and IRC. check there website there rear tyre size is above 120 or 130 so it is not good to use these tyre at rear ( those are designed or manufactured for Front). so check the tyre whether R mention or F.
