But while coming i stopped whenever the light came on and killed & restarted the engine. But the trend is still there. 2-3kms and the light comes on. I inspected the bike and didnt see anything new or out of place. Even the engine temp was low due to rainy atmosphere.
    What could it be?

PS:- I did think of taking it to a svc but then realised that it's sunday today
Well, bro IMO its the faulty "faulty indicator" wiring which could've been the culprit there I mean, the indicator itself could've given you wrong indication because of some water seepage or something with its own wiring. Though I can't find the logic behind switching off the indicator for 2-3kms. after you killed the engine but this is what I could think of

Got that fixed, and the rear tyre ate up a big nail. And now, heavy knocking sound from the engine, though there is no change in mileage and pick up
LOL... you always get strange shocks from your bike Hope you'll rectify it soon

But will it effect the stability of the bike if we do all those changes..As of now hyperedge is free from vibrations at any rpm...Also any rough idea about the cost for all the changes..

      • Last saturday I went for servicing of my 8 months old Hyperedge..
As per the bill they have specified Mak (Item No:4T50-2 priced 246rs) & some filter Comp Engine Oil (Item No:-M1080540)...normally they used to keep tvs tru oil...I'm feeling there is some drop in performance?? I mean cant feel the acceleration I used to get previously...Is Mak oil fine?
Also is there anything else I need to ask them to do like cleaning air filter/carburetor cleaning..Sorry I'm not that expert in the technical terms..

          • Issues with my RTR

            Hi all..

I am a proud RTR160 owner (carb version) since last 3 yrs.. had amazing time on it.. beat biggies like Pulsar 180/200/220 Karizmas.. I have literally humiliated big machines in city traffic like Yamaha R1/R15/Ninja 250....

Well, but i maintain my bike very nicely, I have so far spent almost the cost of a new RTR on it, I use Motul 300V regularly, My bike runs on only Indian oil Xtra premium petrol, Runs on Pirelli rear and Zapper front, non working parts are always replaced never done 'Jugaad' work on it..

But lately, I have problems with my machine, the bike gives jerks between 4500-6500 rpm if i put it in 5th gear and give full throttle from 4000 rpm... also the bike now struggles to reach top speed and vibrates alot at higher rpms...

I have no engine mods done on my RTR except irridium spark plugs and performance spark cables...Even after i told this problem to CPL TVS repeatedly, they are not capable of removing the issue from my bike....

Somebody please suggest me the best mechanic available in Delhi for RTRs even if he is a local mechanic.. pls do not suggest me a mechanic who only talks in air and friendly.. pls suggest me a mechanic who knows RTRs like he was born with it (I am ready to go to any part of delhi)..

Also, I need somebody's advice who has done mods like
            1.) Fitting K&N filters
            2.) After market exhaust
            3.) Xenon HID kit

Need to know the longtime feasiblity of these upgrades with the bike, does the maintainence increase for the bike after these mods? Is it reliable for long trips and long hour riding like 6hrs continuous riding on highway?

Just want a discussion on these points..

            cheers

1> please mentioned how many kms u've clocked so far . A loss of acceleration - Vibes and <top end means either bike is running with a loose chain , wrong Carb setting or Worn out clutch plate's . Check Compression pressure and also see if clutch plates have worn out.

2> Take a brake at every 100 or 120th km if your are riding on highway ( near 6-7-8K RPM in 5th gear ) and you can ride all day without any issues .

              3> Avoid street race's .
Its not enough to know how to twist the throttle; you must have judgement to know when and where to do it.

                  • So, I got delivery of my RTR160 RD day before yesterday.

The salesmen told me to always kick start the bike when starting it for the first time each day. In the user manual, it's mentioned that one should use choke for cold starting.

Today morning the bike refused to kick start even after applying choke. I kicked that damn engine 10 times but it didn't start.

Temperature is low (during early morning) these days here in Pune. I finally had to use the electric starter.

                    Am I doing it wrong?

Secondly how much is the warranty for RTR160?

You need to twist the throttle if its not starting with only kick.
Till 30k KMS or 2 years is the warranty period

Meaning I should open throttle while kicking?

I'm thinking of quitting the kick and sticking to electric starter only.

Bro, the salesmen (surprizingly this time ) suggested you rightly

You should use kick-starter for the 1st 'start' of a day just to ensure long battery life. Though it doesn't affect the engine in anyway. And I would advise you to first try starting it just with kick. I mean, no choke and throttle. If the bike doesn't start with 1-2 kicks, then you can use the choke and the throttle. This is because sometimes in the colder mornings, the engine shuts down while you give just a "little" amount of throttle (obviously, more throttle will result in same). The key in such situations is to just start it without any throttle and leave it idling for 1-2 minutes, then try twisting the throttle gradually and the bike will start roaring

And before kicking i follow this too , kick 3-5 times with engine kill switch off so that oil will splash around the top of engine which would have settled to lower parts when left alone.

                              Thanks for clearing that!

Surprisingly, today morning the bike started at first kick (after choking). I apply choke for about 10-12 seconds until idling reaches 1.2k RPM, then I let go off it.

                              I'll try that.

I'm trying hard not to cross 50 kmph for the first 1000 km (as mentioned in owner's manual). But, it's too tempting.
Bike is begging to be revved hard.

                              • Since we are on the topic of "starting" the bike,
My bike, whenever cold starting will come on in 1 (or sometimes 2) kicks!
so normally after i run for a few kms, i switch of the bike at a traffic signal
and everytime, The bike requires atleast 7+ kicks to start up!! so nowadays i have stopped switching off the bike at signals although the wait might be more than a minute!
The battery in my bike is very weak , i have to change it, but i am keeping it for a later time, as kitty's empty :P

Why do u think the bike behaves like that??

P.S Put Sirac street on the rear last week, Noticeable difference in rough patches, but in tarmac, i cant find much difference in grip than the old tvs tyres :O
