      • use the 20W50 oil.do not run aggressively.dont ride the bike in constant speed.go through all gears.check for overheat by checking the RHS clutch case/timing case for excessive heat.
        Good Luck!

        • Tbts...

Guys, I just gave a test drive of the TBTS.

The ride was good, but i felt the thump is missing. The gear shift wasn't comfortable and it wasn't doing above 100.

Is this the problem with the bike i tested ?

I am looking forward to buy a TBTS in a few months, Is it a good buy?

The showroom also claimed a 45 day minimum waiting period after the booking date.

              Hey Ananth!

I guess the bike isn't all that great after all, because the one that I had ridden also showed signs of strain at around 100, & in fact one peculiar thing that I remember is that the bike vibrated a lot, more than what the CIs or AVLs do.

After riding the bike, I was in a dilemna about what to call it, because it would be unjustified to call it a Bullet & when I look at it as any other bike from RE, it's not a very good job.

Maybe with time, RE will take up feedback from customers & do something to rectify these issues.

              Take care.

              Happy thumping,

                Hi Saurabh!

Hey bud, congrats on getting the Bullet, & even wonderful as it's a CI engine.

About some tips, my suggestion would be to develop a habit of listening to the engine from day one, & riding the bike accordingly.

Plus, in the initial stages, avoid going fast & speeding, & try to keep it below 50kmph. Get it serviced on time, & after completing 700-800kms, you can start taking the bike to short bursts of speed of upto arond 80kmph, but then just bursts. Slowly start increasing the duration.

After having run the bike for say close to 1500kms., you can start opening the throttle further. Don't put in a very good oil in the beginning, as it would then be too comfortable for the engine, & for the engine components to actually wear & set in properly.

And most importantly, keep it clean & tidy.

                Take care.

                Happy thumping,
                Prakhar

                  Hi shinesudhakiran!

I am not very sure, but then a disc brake setup would set you back by somewhere around 5K, including installation. But then I would request some others to put some light onto this & to verify this information.

About the thump, you can go in for a short bottle silencer, as was available on old models. There are two types available, the first one being the normal one with cannons inside to absorb the high frequency noises. The sound from such silencers will be lesser, & more bearable (soothing, but this is just my personal preference).

The other type is the one in which there are either no obstructions (in the form of cannons or mufflers) to the passage of the exhaust gases or they are lesser. Most people in the markets don't know the reason for them to be empty except for making loud noise, but then such silencers will also act as a free flow exhaust. Mind you, these silencers cannot be called "free flow" per se, but they would act the same way. But, a big BUT, if you plan on going in for these, you will need to rejet the bike. With such silencers, the volumetric efficiency of your engine would increase, or in simpler terms, it would breathe easier now & so more air, but then the engine still gets the same amount of petrol. So the end result is a leaner mixture, & you have problems. So, you need to correct it, which is done by rejetting.

NOTE: Any exhaust change would usually invite an adjustment in the carb settings. It's better to check rather than being sorry later.

                  Take care.

                  Happy thumping,

                    Hi saurabh325!

Hey bud, the oil that you should go in for should be a grade 50 oil, or it can be a multigrade with the rating for high temparature operation as 50.

                    For the engine:
                    SAE rating: straight 50 or xW50 (15W50 or 20W50)
API rating: can be anything above SG, although the higher the better
JASO rating: You don't have to worry about this in case of a Bullet as the clutch is contained in a separate cavity with its own oil there, so MA or MA2 doesn't matter.

A suggestion is that you should stick to an oil reccomended for use only in 4 stroke bike engines, not cars or anything else.

                    For the primary chaincase:
                    SAE rating: straight 40 or xW40 (10W40 or 15W40 or 20W40)
API rating: again anything above SG
JASO rating: Here it should be MA2

Also, you can use the ATF in our primary chaincase. But be careful that the type is Type-F, as all other types have friction modifiers in them which would cause clutch slippage here. Also note that the manual reccomended oil used here is of grade xW30, but then I have found it very thin at temparatures prevalent here & also the traffic conditions. I found the xW30 oil needing top-ups from time to time, which were quite frequent.

                    Take care.

                    Happy thumping,
                    Prakhar

still i ve something more.. shall i get some specific names for these two kinda exhaust. frist one u said short bottle silencer.. actualy i m asking jus bcos if i go to dealers and ask them old model silencer i need to identify which one they gave me..

then in RE website they mentioned that disc brake is not a retro fit for some models.but std 350 is not mentioned there. heard that for installing disc brake we need to change the forks and all. Prakhar mentioned the cost around 5k.. does it include fork change ? can anybody who installed disc brakes on std 350 give me an idea. i wish to get a review abt disc brakes on machine.

                      Thumping Regards,

                          Hey Shine,

Sorry had been a bit late in responding to your queries... I own a STD 350 and have installed a disc brake setup on the same. It cost me 6500/- which I got it done from the RE Showroom as well... and it has been going great...

Yes, ideally one should need to change the forks which would be additional cost... but then, my mechanic at the showroom here did it without the change... by filing a bit of the parts... am looking for the snap of showing the same - shall upload it as soon as I find it... Else it will become a costlier affair.... Please don't change the forks..it ruins the looks of the standard... it looks a modified electra 4s!!! Shall upload the photos soon...

As to the silencers, I checked out on the same - I was told to get indore silencers - short bottle ones. But haven't had the time to check it out and hence that change is still pending...

Gimme time till sunday - shall schedule a photo shoot of my bull and then upload better pics...

                          Hope this helps...

where do you live man... is that silencer made of gold or some thing or they are giving out a biatch with the exaust. man it costs just 900 from the showroom (good quality of crome) and if you buy from out side you can get it for around 450. and in soouth they should be cheaper. if you want i can or prakhar can send it out to you one from North ... With a standard you dont have to change the front forks, Mr. Goat is back here and i am sure that he would be able to post the pics there is not much that needs to be modified to get it rite.

Prakhar and i were talking today. dont get into the Jetting and all that just get a normal exaust and you would be happy. i will give you a contact

or you can contact SANKAR on team-bhp.
i am sure he would be able to help it seems that you are from his city.
