get your battery charged, remove the brake light switch for the front break, get the accel cable replace. and if it still shuts off then get a RE mechanic to check the Tunning of your carb and the Timming.

when i had the similar prob it was bcos that main battery cable connection was loose..or there was no contact. check the cable beneath the dial also (if ur battery is having enough charge).

              then

i have got the bend and silencer for rs 1600 and the thump is realy good. i m happy guys.. thanks to desideep and prakhar for guiding me.

              My next doubt is .....

              IS philips X treme power H4 12 V 60/55 W a direct fit for my RE 350. ???
i ve changed my head light to old style.. ie i dont have that clear glass head light.

              • Motorcycle delivery query

My fellow Xbhpians, I have a question that might sound on the border of paranoia, but I'l ask it anyway.

I have recently(jan 3rd,09) booked an alberto green Machismo 500 LB at the Royal Enfield brand store in Bangalore. The dealer has given me a waiting period of 25-30 days. Now my issue is that I live 15 Kms away from the dealership. So, to register at the RTO(Rajajinagar) under whose jurisdiction my residential address comes, my brand new 500LB has to traverse almost 20 Kms. I am a little sceptical with the RE mechanics riding my bull for so far as they most certainly would abuse it. So, can I ask the dealer to let me ride my bike and accompany his representative for registration? I am not sure whether I have the right to handle the motorcycle before registration. The main reason for this query is because I am worried as bullets need careful running-in, especially in the initial few kilometres where chances of damage are very high. Also, I feel that this longish ride will give me a general feel of the motorcycle and I could ask the dealer to make adjustments if required. Please give me your opinions on this.

Also, what are the pre delivery inspections that need to be done before I take delivery of the motorcycle. I have heard stuff about brand new REs having next to no oil. So kindly advise on a checklist that I need to follow before taking delivery of my LB500.

                  hi mr jaiprashant,

I ll tell u wat happend while i purchased my 350 three years back.( As per kerala govt rules... dunno whether this is applicable at ur end) when i took my RE machine the dealer was around 35 km away from my home. That time they gave me a Temporary permit (TP) from their Road Transport office which is valid for one or two week( i dont remember exactly) .With this we can go for registering our vehicle at RTO where our locality belong to. If we get the TP from dealers we can take our bike home and register with in the validity period. there is no issues in this. If u are asking for riding the bike for getting the TP i dont know whether its possible or not?? i think it would better asking ur dealer.

Xbhpians!!!!!!! Rush in ur inputs regarding this registration process.

Then regarding pre delivery inspection hope our Xbhpian experts ll advice u. even i am waiting for learning that so that i can advice upcoming bulletteers.

                  Thumping regards

Hey dude, I once had a chat with the Honda Showroom guy and this is what he said
"They don't take the bike to the RTO for registration purposes, as they avoid to take any unnecessary risks, they take only the pencil impression of engine / chasis on trace paper and if need be they'll take the demo bike to the RTO... They fear about the new vehicle meeting with an accident or anything totally unexpected, moreover the insurance also won't be there for unregistered vehicles"... As per the show-room guy, Silicon Honda has their own track in their godown and that's where they do the pre-delivery checks and they parcel the bikes in transport vehicle to the show-room... Just check out if RE follows a similar way...

                        • I called up the RE Brand Store here in Bangalore today about the registration procedure. They said that they usually take a carbon print of the engine and chassis and take the prints to the RTO for registration. But then, if the vehicle inspector insists, they will need to take the bike for inspection.

Just to see how Teknik motors do it, I called them up too. They said that the bike needs to be taken to the RTO for registration. When I raised the issue of insurance not being available for a brand new unregistered vehicle, they told me that they go for registration only after getting the insurance done. So, I heard contradicting views on the same subject at different RE dealerships.

However, my dealer(Brand store) assured me that they would just take the prints if I allow them to register my LB500 at Koramangala RTO(Central RTO). Apparently, the truckers strike is causing havoc with the deliveries. Thankfully, it has been resolved this evening.

Wrong info has been passed over some how. the bikes are insured even without a Resgtration under the temp registration. and why are you so worried about the whole registration thing,. if it was me i would have been least bothered. oh yes would have been only if i wanted to get some number between 0001-0099. so let them do the way they do otherwise you always have Mr. gandhi to help you if you go to the RTO by yourself.

And regarding your choice with the LB 500 thats good. but again the AVL would be a AVL it can never be a CI(and lets not start another topics about this hehehe.) anyways with the PDI generally i think here in india they just do nothing, they will put in a brand new battery and other stuff. check the nuts to be tight and all that kinda stuff.

so only thing that you need to do is chill Buy a good helmet not to go for those Open face ones, Buy a good jacket in your state a Mesh one would be needed, oh and to add to the whole thing buy good dingos or Work Boots preferably Steel Toes. they look great.

                            sorry was late to respond.

                            Thanks

I'l be buying a Cramster breezer and a MPA-AGV or maybe an Italian AGV shortly. Sad to hear about the PDI scene here.

Yeah, I know about the AVLs and the clatter. I'l have to live with it. And god willing I'l buy a nice used STD350 somewhere down the line.

I love the way you said that you would buy a CI 350.

Any ways there nothing to be sad about the PDI.
