    • Oil nd smoke coming from breather pipe of 350cc cast iron engine.

I have done an overhaul.. 2 years back..
After running close to 25k kms I have kept the bull on idle for about an year with necessary precautions..
Once started without any fuzz, I have noticed thick white smoke from the exhaust which is normal for bullets kept in idle for a long period.. but the smoke and excess oil spitting from the breather pipe is actually worrying me..
I have done an oil change.. did a ride of about 500kms.. but nothing really bothered me in regards to power or efficiency. But the breather pipe smoke.. it looks like as if the motorcycle is on fire. .

      Cheers

        get your piston rings replaced,
you must have revd hard on cold engine
piston rings are damaged,so oil is getting inside chamber
and burning oil which produces white smoke

500km ridden, then oil must have entered
        in the valves ,engine head

worst case would be to overhaul again
best case only piston rings would do the work

        • Front tyre for Electra

          Hi folks,

Any suggestions for a front tyre for the Electra? Both my tyres were in bad shape and last sunday, i got the rear replaced with the MRF Mogrip Meteor. I felt this one is wide and handles bad roads quite well while conering smoothly. What tyre can i use in front that compliments the rear? Have considered the Vee rubber Vrm 307 and the Michelin Sirac front tyre. I use my bike for occational commuting and highway trips to the hills.

          Thanks.

Ride the first 1km or so gently i.e. like taking a walk with your gf and not like running when a dog is chasing you.
This is a general rule for almost any motorcycle. Use the kick on cold starts, if the bike is equipped with one.
And don't forget to read the owners manual.
Please - I disagree. This is applicable only for old Royal Enfield Cast Iron Engines. Please do not listen to everyone and anyone in this forum. Read the owners manual very carefully. The UCE aluminum engines do not need a kick start especially with the hydraulic tappets, the showroom mechanics themselves will tell you to avoid kick start at all cost. Use it in scenarios where you dont have an option.

Kick starting the engine (Mind you many dont even know how to kick start a RE) is one of the reason your Hydraulic tappets go Kaput. This is even more TABOO for Fuel injected versions. My Classic 500 manual clearly says, to use Electric start only. Using the kick start puts undue/uneven pressure on the EFI pump.

Page 70 of your UCE Classic 500 Manual "In cold condition of the engine or for initial start, it is advised to use electric start (ES) only."

              • Royal Enfield Standard 350 AVL !!! (1990)

hi all , I recently accquired a bull. Its great to drive around but when i do decent speeds and in heavy traffic the engine stops while idling and refuses to start again. I noticed laughing sound from the engine (seriously). But after the engine cools down it starts again and no issues. This happens almost all the time except during nights and if i maintain my speed as low as possible. When checked with a mechanic he said " the valve seizes, its not a issues unless you ride long distances ", But i would like to get it fixed. any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

You can retrofit the starter and then can use it for starting the bike
