Hi Jay,
The tuk tuk sound u mentioned at low rpm could be cause your idling speed is a little low. Adjusting the air screw on your carb should fix it. It could help if you descibed the whining sound in detail. I know thats hard. :P . But do try.

thanks Sidewinder....the whining is louder when i first start up the engine in the morning...fades a little after i've run the motor for some time but it is always there. It's kind of the-engine-internals-running-out-of-oil sort of gruff noise.
the tak tak sound is heard if i throttle the bike a bit from idling at lower rpm. Local mechanics are telling the con rod is giving problem and engine overhaul is needed. I need your suggestions...is it really required? ThanksLast edited by jay_chatterjee; 04-14-2013, 04:35 PM.Comment

Hello Xbhp'ians. Here is My Royal Enfield Bullet Std 350. Wanted to show you people. Are the mods good or bad??
NOTE : I have all other ORIGINAL STOCK parts of the bike like Silencer, handle, seat & all with ME. I keep on changing its looks from Stock to modified.
1990 model. With some little mods. Harley Fatboy type handle, 25 Litre tank, Single seat, skull tail, Goldstar type silencer.

Bought an old tank, then made it big/ done grinding to it.
Handle bought from chennai, when my bro was on a trip there. Skull tail bought near by home.

Jay,
Before you go for drastic measures its always best to try and get second or third opinions. Im not sure where you're from, you check out other good mechanics in our city. Before that, it would make sense if you try fiddling with the air screw of your carb. If that settles it well and good. And if you havent changed your oil in a while, id suggest you do it yourself. Try draining the oil out as much as you can and change the oil filter and check the magnet for deposits. If all else fails. Do get a couple of other people to look at it before u do anything. Hope things sort out.Comment

You must have checked the tappets right ? If not do so.. They tend to come loose with time. My old one had the issue.Comment

Im gonna get a electra in a week.
Can some one tell me if the 2013 electra comes with a OEM dual horn like in C350??
If not i'd have to change it right away on delivery.
And what about the tyre options that we have got ??
are the OEM ones decent enough in grip?
Or shud I change to 3.5 ?

I've heard lots of REs making very loud "Phat" sound (not the thumping
) at certain interval .
Is it a engine characteristic or is it created manually ??I don't brake rules , I merely test their elasticity ;)Comment

Hi everyone...I have a question that bullet gurus can answer.....do worn out rockers make occasional kat kat sound at different rpms? My 350 cc ci bullet pulls effortlessly at higher rpms without any noise but only when the bike is in lower gears, or during revving the throttle up from idle does it make this strange metal-hitting-metal noise. Please give me your valuable inputs...thanks.Comment

I am using a Royal Enfield Electra (2007 CI model). I don't have a covered parking. Since the rains have already hit Delhi, i wanted to know what precautions can be taken to protect it from rains apart from using a "Bike cover", which i have already ordered from eBay and the same is yet to arrive.
Is there any kind of polish or anti-rust treatment that i can use on the bike or can i spray WD40 at few rust prone areas on the bike?Comment

Try the Dealerships in smaller towns and RE Brand stores, they have much lower waiting period. You might as well get it within a week if you pull the right plugs :-)Originally posted by Rituraj_singh View Post
