dude ordering a new tank does not make sense get the electrolyte treatment done for the tank and that will take all the rust away.
you can then go to yamaha SVC and ask for rust protection. they will give you the rust protection kit and you can then use the same.. this is a little diy and will save you loads of money.
else just ask mechanic to get the tank cleaned and then electrolyte treated and rust protection added. it will be lot cheaper than getting a new tank..
check this thread and this will sort out most of your issues once done.. its a DIY
once this can be done also get the leakage checked and filled.. a welding guy wil be able to do it and get a new PETCOCK with a gasket set.. this should solve your issue.Last edited by theironhorse99; 07-20-2012, 07:23 PM."A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel."

Nevermind... came to know about it when my bike's servicing was being done... their was a bullet electra standing their with its tank in real bad situation.. when I enquired abiut it the servicing guy told me its of a customer... he had given it for some fault... so the guy took it for a ride last night and it slipped... now the servicing guy himself would have to pay the costs of a new tank which are 7k... I asked what's the price of a new tank of classic.. he told its approx same.. thus I came to know the costs of a new tankOriginally posted by jay_chatterjee View Post@lovish.. thanks bro for quoting the price
@theironhorse99...wonderful link! will surely try once!

bullet 350 77 model.. piston jamming..
ok finally landed here with the cbr giving issues.. now the bull has started giving troubles too..
the engine was built last year and somehow now the bike engine is running very hot.. and the piston jams after every 2-3 km after which i have to cool it for 5 minutes to start again before the kick starter go easy...
my regular mech is outta town..not sure whats causing it.. multiple things
running in my head..
lean fuel mixture making it run too hot..
improper oil circulation...
valve clearance...
what else can be checked.. its becoming a pain day by day for i am only abvle to use it till the galli only nowadays.. scared to go far as after 2-3 km it just makes some weird thak thak noises and comes to a halt.. let it rest for 5 minutes and its ready for another 2-3 km of empty road...
oil levels are good and fresh oil in...
folks help me out..."A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel."

Lean mixture might make your engine hot, but not stop it at least.Originally posted by theironhorse99 View Postok finally landed here with the cbr giving issues.. now the bull has started giving troubles too..

what i feel is that while re-building the engine, you might have used incorrect cylinder size or something is wrong in the engine i guess.
It has to be something with that. Not about the oil also, because if the oil is not moving around, then the engine will seize and never start after that.
And what about the sound from the engine, is it too loud or i mean are you getting kind of rough noise from the engine ??______________________________________________________________

engine sound is perfectly fine till the time it reaches to the point of sudden halting... will check on the cylinder ... can this be due to less clearance between the piston and cylinder..Originally posted by surajit09 View PostLean mixture might make your engine hot, but not stop it at least.

check the gap between piston and the cylinder.
if the gap is less then this may happen for sure.
also one more thing, when your bike stops, does your clutch become stiff kind of ??______________________________________________________________

Is there any one who knows about the button tires.
I have fitted the button tire in my TBTs.
My handle bar has started shaking a lot.
Is this due to the button tire.
Any idea.
Is there any one here who had faced this issue before.______________________________________________________________
