I will do that for sure, maybe I will write it up & send a PM to you if that's OK for you. Just give me a day or two.

As for that silencer cost, it's too expensive, I have heard that you can get a Goldstar for that kind of price. Ok, & to remove your confusion, when you buy a silencer, see through it. If you are able to see light at the other end (hollow), then that's the free flow (well sort of, one that would require rejetting). Don't go in for that. The one that you cannot see through is the one you should buy.

A company that I trust is Laxmi Udyog, or another one called Madras quality, although there must a plethora of other companies manufacturing them. If you want then as Deep said, we could send it to you.

And hey, about the disk, lets wait till the goat posts up something & then all of us here can talk about your options.

    Take care.

    Happy thumping,

      Hi ananth!

Hey bud, well my honest suggestion is avoid it, at least for now. But then I don't want to sound like one of those who told me not to go ahead with a Bullet, as it is maintainance intensive etc.

So, keeping in mind the various issues that the bike might have, listen to what your heart says, & then do that. That's the way it always works for me & I am sure it will even for you.

      Take care.

Prakhar, My heart intends to go with the TBTS. But everything else is against it. I have decided to put it off for a few months.. If @ all there is some change from the RE's stable, i will go a head with it. Else i would go ahead and buy some other tourer. Lets see whats in store by around March-April.

          Hi Ananth!

Good decision is what I would say, as somebody once told me "never do it when in doubt". You do understand what I mean by "it", hehe.

          Take care.

i was told that short bottle silencer alone ll cost around 950rs and for that i should change the bend too .that ll cost around 650 rs. so altogether 1600rs. U people are telling abt the price including the bend or jus silencer alone??? i m not going for a free flow one.

i ll try to get sankars contact number from team bhp.. or if some body have his number pls furnish it here.

i m worried that i ve some serious performance issues during my last trip to a hilltop. i ll post it in detail soon.

                  Hi shinesudhakaran,

Too much is what I would say for the price. The best thing would be to get in touch with a local there (a Bull rider like Sankar as Deep suggested).

And do put up the details of the performance issues that you are speaking of.

                  Take care.

                    • Experts here pls help me.

During my last trip to ponmudi a hill top my bull performed realy bad. there are 22 hair pin curves to reach the hill top among them almost all curves we can do only on 2nd and 1 st gears. cannot give a nice throttle bcos of bad road condition.while climbing some steeper curve i found the thump quite different, i felt like my machine is trying hard to carry me and my cousin(total of 180kgs, --just to describe the scenario). That bad thump threatened me an engine breakdown. sudenly i stoped and looked at my engine. Engine was realy hot and cud see smoke and a light frying smell. we just switched off and wait for a while.when i started the machine we heard pathetic thump. never heard that sound before . i m sure my machine became weak as i did a same trip during last trip on april. i felt that performance difference. wat may be the reason for these problem.. does my bull suffer some severe problems?? How can i get a recovery???

here are some of my doubts in this regard.
                      1. clutch plate ??? (since power transmission is related to clutch as per my minimal knowledge)

                      2. I m keeping my tire pressure like 20f 30r . If i carry a person who weighs more than 70kg shud i increase the pressure indexes??? i need to know the correct tyre pressures if mine is wrong .
                      3. My silencer is having some holes now. ( i am on my way to change it to a short bottle silencer) will these holes cause a bad performace.

                      4. I did 1200km after my last oil change from royal enfield dealer. my machine completed jus 6500kms altogether.

Waiting for ur replies. if my words are not techinicaly explanatory pls ask me i ll try my level best to make u understand my problem.

                      thumping regards

                      • These are normal. and your tyre pressure is too low. i keep it 25-35 and when riding long i keep 30-40. gives me good millage but yo uhave to be care full when braking.

holes in exaust could you please me more discriptive and also if you can post up a pic or some thing.

You can check your clutch cause i have seen clutch lasting for 40K and also being burn in 100 KM so please check the clutch and also check the way you ride. if you ride with the clutch depressed or while up hill if you use the clutch too much you may expect some wear and tear.

i generally would not use the clutch too much if on hills i sellect a gear and then let the bike pull its way up. i generally am not bothered if it goes fast or not. like for instance when we were onto the leh trip. from Kiratpur sahid till Manali i did majority of the route in 3rd gear which involved some major inclines. the bike say speeds as low as 15 Kmph and also on the Hairpins we used 2nd or the first as needed. but no major power loss or any thing.

                          Hi shinesudhakaran,

Hey bud, about the power loss, I would say that it's the air pressure here which should ideally be 25psi at the front & I keep it at 32-33 at the rear, although many keep it at 35psi.

Secondly, also get the clutch plates checked, which is not a lengthy thing, all the mechanic will have to do is open the primary chaincase & inspect the clutch plates.

Lastly, about the holes, if I am right, you have probably made these holes to increase the thump. If so, then it might be resulting in a leaner running engine, causing heating & reduction in performance. But as Deep said, do post up pictures of the silencer with the holes.

About the oil, don't worry, you can easily run it for another 500-1000kms. based on how good the oil is.

And hey by the way, a very happy new year to you & your family.

                          Take care.

                          • Thanku buds for this early reply.

i ll change tyre pressure today itself. ll check with a mechanic in two or three days. i ll ask sankar abt a good mechanic in city.

then regarding silencer holes. it is caused bcos of rusting from inside (now i can see a a rust line round my silencer bottle which i think will broke into two peices shortly) and i didnt drill any holes to increase the thump. Reading last two replys i think air pressure and these holes made loss in performance. anyways i ll check my clutch plate too.

Once again a big thanks to u all

                              Hi shinesudhakaran,

Hey bud, it seems that your bike is running lean due to those holes in the silencer. But then a lot would depend on how big those holes are. So, while are you getting the clutch plates checked, also ask the mechanic to check the mixture settings by looking at the spark plug insulator.

Let us know whatever comes up.

                              Take care.

                              • Changed my tyre pressure to 25F 35 R. 35 on rear tyre felt lil bit bumpy but when i discussed with deep over phone he told that i ll get used to that after some days.. Checked the clutch plate, everything alright.i think we can conclude that loss in performance was due to low pressure in tyres. The mechanic took for a test ride and told that i should change the silencer very soon. but the prob is bend is not available here. OUT OF STOCK!!!!!!!!!! I ll tell him to check the mixture settings next time.

U guys helped me a lot to sort it out.
