Testing going on in Brno. Some pics of the riders posted here:
By looking at Ducati GP11.1 itself (or may be it is the camera angle) one can say there is a huge gap between the front fork and the engine which means COG is way backwards. No wonder it is hard to load the front.

Comparo with Honda (well not the same camera angle but just to get an idea)

missed moto2 and 125
,
nice motogp race overall...an all honda podium after a long long time....this is the first time that Honda's strategy has worked i.e. put a lot of riders on factory bikes...one of them would win the championship and the others would prevent the opposition from scoring points...
and bautista was fast (high 1.57s)...that guy has got talent...its great to see suzuki back to pace
rossi looked better...hope this improvement stays till next race...for the first time GP11.1>GP11..
and what it would feel like to be Karel abraham....his dad owns the circuit as well...

Valentino Rossi was even further back, crossing the line over 10 seconds behind Stoner. Yet after the race, Rossi was the most optimistic he has been for a very long time. Compared with Laguna Seca, Rossi had cut the deficit by half on the new bike, and the Italian was confident that the improvement was permanent.
Rossi was coy on exactly what had changed - refusing to answer the question directly, saying only that they were "details" - but he was fulsome in his praise of Filippo Preziosi. "Ducati are very clever," he said, "such a small change makes such a big difference." The improvement had been major, allowing Rossi to brake much deeper giving both stability and improving corner entry and giving him much more feeling with the front. He kept talking about having made "a step" and his surprise at such a small part bringing such big results. "I hope Filippo has a few more boxes!"

Heh heh ... talk about thinking out of the box. Actually apparently, in 2007 also Yamaha had brought in some engineers from Yamaha musical instrument division to check the engine sound of the Ducati, to maybe try to find the power the engine makes !!Originally posted by sumit.pannalall View PostOkay this definitely needs new post

They concluded the ducati was making at least 20 bhps more than the 2007 Yamaha n HondaKawasaki Ninja : Because lazy sunday afternoons should be despatched at 160 kmph!!!
Hyosung Aquila : Because sometimes you need to look cool while riding at 40 kmph and you can do that only on a cruiser !!!

Something tells me that Rossi might win a race this season.
I searched a lot, no 1 (neither rossi nor fillipo) is telling as what were the small adjustments they made to make the front end better.
I think what they might have done is, played a bit with the compounds on CF towards those parts of the chassis which handle most of the load.
So the ultra rigid and plastic like feedback would develop some resonance and give them a metal like (ting) feedback.
This would have helped them get some (less rigid) feedback which they can judge.
A few more tweaks here and there, and ROSSI will shine once again.
Anyone else have some opinion of the improved front end ?Giving a lot to a fiero.
Expecting a lot from a fiero.

Ducati Corse Running Parallel MotoGP Project with Aluminum Twin-Spar Chassis
While Ducati might not be getting a two-wheel drive system in MotoGP anytime soon, the Italians are apparently in the process of running a parallel program to its MotoGP racing effort that explores the concept of Ducati Corse switching to an aluminum twin-spar frame. Uncovered by French journalist Thomas Baujard of the French magazine Moto Journal, Ducati Corse has apparently enlisted the help of a third-party chassis manufacturing and engineering firm to construct a prototype aluminum chassis. Not wanting to start from zero, Ducati hopes that with aid from a third party, the Italian company can come up to speed on the twin-spar design.

finally ... they are trying aluminium twin spar chasis, but it will take a lot of effort in R&D and trials & testing ... and the learning curve may take considerable time, before they can come up with a really competitive chasis.Originally posted by Ghost11 View PostDucati Corse Running Parallel MotoGP Project with Aluminum Twin-Spar Chassis

ducati... plz do whatever is required to win a motogp race...though i would have loved a carbon fibre chasis ducati winning, that would have kept the character of bike as it is and rossi could have proved its critics that if stoner can win on ducati, then certainly rossi can also...

So if they come up with a bike having an aluminium prototype chassis by a third party and put their own engine, then it'll Ducati factory CRT
. Will they be allowed?
not my original comment. part of it from motomatters article comments.
Edit: Answering my own question. I think they will be as the engine is also not a production one but a prototype.Last edited by TheRedPill; 08-19-2011, 05:38 PM.
