The reason for starting late..(from motomatters)

The final anomaly in the calendar is the lateness of the start. With the season reverting to start in mid-April again, MotoGP appears once again to be giving the early spring to World Superbikes and Formula One. WSBK is likely to kick off its season in February at Phillip Island, with a second round likely to take place in March ahead of the MotoGP opener, while F1 will be on its third race of the season when MotoGP kicks off at Qatar. The late start is a consequence of Qatar's insistence on being both the season opener and a night race, with conditions in the dark often proving treacherous so early in the season.

Yup! All depends upon F1's debut in India. Govt doesn't consider motor racing as a sport instead they say it's just entertainment

Whenever it will happen in India I think it should happen in October otherwise Noida's climate is too extreme. Summers (April, May) are too hot and Monsoon won't allow in June July August. Am I right?

Edit: Interesting stipulation for next year. Honda has agreed to give 800cc machines to teams such as LCR, Gresini as their scond bikes apart from the 2012 bikes. It'll be really interesting to see all kinds of machines running next year.

Team Mahindra has acted correctly and decided to leave their mechanics and engineers free to decide on their own about traveling to Motegi for the Japanese GP. The result is that none of their nine team members will be going. The two riders Danny Webb and Marcel Schrotter decided, despite their doubts, to go ahead with the race, and they will be supported by a completely new team.

Team manager Casadei will be attending, as any good captain would do. The team's base of operations will be the safest one possible: Tokyo (also because Mito is full of displaced people). This means the guys will have to travel 500 Km each day.

Team Mahindra isn't an isolated example, however. We will report to you on any similar decisions in the upcoming days.

spot on about the time, only september/october & march/April are feasible for GP racing at noida...this would be problematic for trackdays as well....

would they give the complete machine/engine??...seems unlikely...there would be a hell lot of Honda technology there, particularly the new secretive gearbox...
it would be interesting though...good riders on Honda 800s would finish mid-pack(maybe a podium)...

Like the decision by Mahindra racing..win-win for all..., then they aren't championship contenders(not much to lose)....

The new chassis is not a twin spar, as was previously believed, but merely an aluminium version of the previous chassis, with much longer frame spars (visible in the photos Toby Moody posted on Twitter). Rossi 8th(1.4 secs down)...randy & hayden on GP11/11.1 faster than rossi(6th & 7th)...

highlight of FP3 => Rdp places the GP 11 at top 3. Yes its Gp 11 not 11.1 or 11.2 or 11.x.... Great he lives his words(presession interview, to be the topm ducati.)

There was much interest in Valentino Rossi's Marlboro Ducati. The Italian had two bikes with the brand new aluminium chassis in the garage, he and his team having decided to leave the carbon fiber chassis behind and concentrate on the metal chassis. But the new chassis requires a new engine, and the sixth engine that Rossi took at Misano is the only one of his current allocation that fits the new chassis. A crash early in the session meant he and his crew faced a dilemma: take the spare bike out and start from pit lane on Sunday, or try to repair the bike as quickly as possible and delay the possibility of a penalty for as long as possible. In the end, they chose the latter option, sending Rossi out on the number bike, containing engine number 6. The time they lost did mean that Rossi only managed to qualify in 13th, and will start from the 5th row of the grid. With bad weather forecast for tomorrow, the likelihood of Rossi using a 7th engine before the season is out is getting bigger and bigger.
