+100 to what @MG says couple of weeks back, I was ripping my car and I was doing somewhere around 170, I opened the sunroof and just put my hand out, ooof, the wind blast was so much that, my watch belt (Stainless Steel one) just came off, lucky the watch did not fly off.

Will that be enough as we have our very own Bajaj claiming 144km/hr top speed for the P220 DTSi!!Originally posted by MG_Biker1806 View PostHonestly people have high hopes from this product. I'm not expecting anything above 150 as true top speed. 145-150 to be more specific
PS:I know the Mahindra will reach there faster but still!!

tried 150+ on an RD long back and u need seat belts at those speeds !Originally posted by anhil8tr View Postis it?? correct me if i am wrong, did the rd 350 have a fairing. Dude get real, 180-200 is no break neck speed that a naked bike can't handle. Plus the faired bikes we have here aren't exactly aerodynamic.
Windblast actually is tougher to handle in case of our faired indian bikes. 170 -180ish is a very real top speed to expect from this bike IMO
yup , we shud not expect anything more than what a comet used to do at a smilar price.Originally posted by MG_Biker1806 View PostHonestly people have high hopes from this product. I'm not expecting anything above 150 as true top speed. 145-150 to be more specific
Ride a naked bike at that speed and then comment!!
roll down the windows after 100kmph and also notice the drop in FE by a big margin :POriginally posted by bprags View Post+100 to what @MG says couple of weeks back, I was ripping my car and I was doing somewhere around 170, I opened the sunroof and just put my hand out, ooof, the wind blast was so much that, my watch belt (Stainless Steel one) just came off, lucky the watch did not fly off.sigpicThe Moto Cafe - India's first bike theme cafe @ Chandni Chowk

The R15 does "cruise" comfortable at 110-115 kmph continuosly for really long distances without any problem. This is the true speed --the sppedo indicates otherwiseOriginally posted by riazmomin View PostIf it can cruise (i mean it) at 120kmph...thats great for our roads. I think apart from Ninja 250R we dont have bikes that can CRUISE at 120kmph barring the bigges..
ok..coming to topic...
waiting for 29th...! and my bid is still on 2.25lacs onroad.

@MG - you know so many things still you are quiet, something big is cooking or is it something opposite
@ xionite - I dont think any normal individual will really rip the bike at 100 + speeds every hour or day apart from the one who rides for long distance of 100 + kms, again if know royal en-field had launched the Electra 4s where the actual bhp was 22+ but the top speed was locked at 100, though the speedo showed 120 as they followed the standards of Indian law.
So i think mahindra may also do something like that.
Correct me if i am wrong but i think the R15 can comfortably cruise at 130+ km speeds comfortably.

I don't know anything. Just putting forward some simple facts. That's itOriginally posted by shrinathrao View Post@MG - you know so many things still you are quiet, something big is cooking or is it something opposite

I can say it as below 110kmph for R15 with my experience on my R15 and others too. Not to argue, but just my opinion.Originally posted by darkknight View PostThe R15 does "cruise" comfortable at 110-115 kmph continuosly for really long distances without any problem. This is the true speed --the sppedo indicates otherwise

and lets not confuse people more here

+1, its like framing questions around the answers.Originally posted by xionite View Postwell... i was taking about top speed. that's it.
windblast... cruising... comfortably cruising etc. was not the point.
expected top speed... that was the question.

The R15 can maintain high speed for long due to its 4 valve engine&being liquid cooled, but obviously it is working at 90-95% of its engine potential at that speed. The FE which drops down to low 30s is a clear indication of that, though the engine does not overheat.Originally posted by shrinathrao View PostCorrect me if I am wrong but I think the R15 can comfortably cruise at 130+ km speeds comfortably.
As Riaz says, I found the real cruising speed of the R15 ideally between 85-105kmph. It returned about 48kmpl once when I stuck to that limit.
Ideally, if a bike can cruise at around 120kmph&still have about 20% juice left in it, it will fit the bill for cruising on most of our highways, IMO.Last edited by Sarvajit; 09-24-2010, 04:59 PM.Quench my thirst with gasoline!

Make that 30%.Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostThe R15 can maintain high speed for long due to its 4 valve engine&being liquid cooled, but obviously it is working at 90-95% of its engine potential at that speed. If a bike has a top speed of 100km/hr then it feels at its best at the speeds of 70-75km/hr.Ideal cruising speed/range should be 70% of the actual top speed of the bike.Anything more than that and you are actually straining the engine and not exactly cruising.

this bike hasn't seen half the speculation the R15 had.
the mahindra should do twice as well... R15 + R15 = 300cc
.
