Sheel, himself is a testimony of the same, as initially he was planning for R15V.20 but eventually opted for CBR 250 as the price difference was not really substantial.

The pricing will be key factor, if they will manage to price it below R15 they might see some decent numbers. If they price it close to R15 then most of the potential customer will end up opting for 250R instead of 150R.

Had a short spin on the CBR 250R today and though didn't have the chance to rev it over 7K, but it was flying. On my R15, I used to hit the limiter on those occasions.
When I rode the R15 for the first time, I didn't like the feel of my 'zma. R15's ride is more connected, but I have had my fill of it. One of the best Motorcycles I have ridden/owned.
The pricing shall be a key.

uhmm...that's because there's only pulsar which have 220cc right?Originally posted by HarishK View Post@ martin_sky77
If the R15 was designed for European market then for sure the engine could have been over square.
But this is for India, prior to R15 no one could have cranked upto 10,500RPM here, on any bike upto the 220CC. R15 is a Race replica, which was cunningly designed for streets and CBR is more of a Track bike.
The CBR churning 19Hp at 10,500RPM doesn't make much sense here. Everyday users will feel the Engine painful, keeping it at higher RPMs always.
Moreover R15 will beat CBR many times in Fuel Consumption. So even if the CBR 150 is launched here, it will merely boost the sales for Yamaha.
a bike which have a poor engine response (sorry to say, it's pure my oppinion and means no offense to pulsar's rider)
is there anyone in india which don't twist the throttle of R15 or RTR upto the redline??? i think they must be gramps...
also R15 won't beat CBR in Fuel Consumption many times, maybe you should read this (underbone tuner: The NEW HONDA CBR150i 2011)Last edited by martin_sky77; 11-16-2011, 11:05 AM.

yup, these are performance bikes..Originally posted by bprags View PostTell a prospective Yamaha customer that the R15 will better the CBR150R in FE only and not in performance
. These are performance bikes, the FE might differ only by max 5kmpl, that shouldnt bother much. I think you should first check how quick the CBR was over the R15 when a test was conducted at the MMSC a couple of years back.
and that old CBR (which smoked R15) is indeed have a poor FE, it's about 35-38kmpl (well, still better than suzuki FXR)Last edited by martin_sky77; 11-16-2011, 11:27 AM.

yes, it's true..and you can try yourself if you get one..Originally posted by dpak89 View PostI read its top is around true 150+km/hr? is this info true? If YES then my next question would be will it's power of 18.98PS be restricted according to indian norms, which is the damn reason always given??
and you can read the underbone tuner's review (underbone tuner: The NEW HONDA CBR150i 2011) that they got 146km/h with the new CBR150..also you can find any review that said the old CBR is faster than the Fi due the lighter bike (115kg dry weight / about 15kg lighter than the Fi)
actually the Thailand version got 19.5HP with 17Nm of torque, not 18.98PS..and the Indonesian version only got 17.8PS with 12.66Nm (damn!!)
so i can't say that it will got the same power with the thailand version..Last edited by martin_sky77; 11-16-2011, 11:31 AM.

now you mention the R15V2.0 case..so everybody need a bigger bhp number right?Originally posted by The Zmaniac View PostEverybody here wants big bhp numbers dude. Remember R15V2.0 episode? It makes a lot of sense to deliver extra 2 bhps than your competitor.
On the other note, I feel, it might turn cannibalistic by eating CBR250R's market. Any takes on this?
it won't eat the CBR250R's market coz it will priced so close with it..
it happened in here (indonesia) and thailand..
so most of us will think it's better take the CBR250R than CBR150Fi, but it will better to take Ninja 250 since it has a bigger HP

Mostly this version will make it to India, IF it is really coming.Originally posted by martin_sky77 View PostActually the Thailand version got 19.5HP with 17Nm of torque, not 18.98PS...and the Indonesian version only got 17.8PS with 12.66Nm (damn!!!)

Indian emission norms are stricter than Thailand. Even the cars end up being detuned compared to their Thai counterparts.
It will be good to have a bike in 150cc sports segment other than R15 though.
Quench my thirst with gasoline!
