The work on the plant has already started and the plant near you, at Kolar is expected to be building vehicles by late 2012. Hope that reduces Honda bike prices by whatever margin feasible.

Very irrelevant torque figure given here. 12.66 N-m ?? bullshit.
And peak power at 10,500rpm, that is new for Honda bikes which generally have power in the lower rpms. Lets see. Anyone from the expo please update the specifications.

seems that one has to rev it hard to get it in fast speeds just as 1st Gen R15

                  • I'm rather surprised with this move of Honda, can't understand the purpose. With Duke 200 around the corner, pricing will really be a headache for Honda.

"The CBR 150R produces 18 bhp@10,500 rpm and 1.28 kgm@7500 rpm from its 150cc DOHC single-cylinder mill which employs liquid cooling and fuel-injection too!" from BSMotoring.

Not impressed if I need to pay over 1 lakh for those specs, R15 would be a better buy any day.

There is a thread on here somewhere that has the lap times of the CBR150 on the Chennai track.. it was significantly faster than the R15. Why judge the bike even before it hits the roads.

I see this a clever move by Honda if they price is near the R15v2. CBR150R will be an all-rounder when compared to R15V2. Pillion factor pulls away many from buying R15V2. An R-15 competitor with comfortable riding position, better pillion seat, and near equal performance is definitely gonna sell, and more over its Honda.

I'm not too sure about the near equal performance, R15 got 20% more torque with the same weight and it produces both torque & power at relatively lower rpms.

Yamaha has a better bike and it's proven, to make things even worse, R15 itself is looking at Duke 200 with slightly higher price and CBR250 rivalling performance. I wonder, who in his right mind will pay nearly the same price as R15 and go for CBR150, he can either pay slightly more and go for Duke 200 or add another 20-30k and go for CBR250 itself if it has to be a Honda or faired bike. Let me complicate things further here , in all probability new pulsars are going to be liquid cooled and I guess P180 will certainly sport identical specs and there should not be any doubts about its sub 1 lakh price as it's from Bajaj.

All this is to say that Honda really is bringing in a product which will find it very difficult to differentiate itself from the competition. Finally it will just end up with Hond brand for uniqueness and that's not a great position to be in.

                          • I have seen many who did not buy the R-15 because of its riding position, and many ended up buying a ZMR/Karizma/RTR/P220. Now with CBR150R, they got a very good option.

Regarding the performance of the bike, it got a very healthy 18ps power and I am sure it performs better and lets wait for the road test.

Regarding the proven factor, Honda engines don't need that proven factor and majority believe this. As it shares most of its parts with its sibling 250R, spares will not be a big issue in future.

KTM200 will be priced around 1.5 lac (general talk around) and it rivals the 250cc category. An amount of 30-40k also plays an important role. Pillion factor plays an important role here. I would prefer a CBR150R with better pillion seat (for wife/mother/kids) than the KTM or R15V2 which make it difficult for a pillion.

                            Anyway, lets see what happens.

That was the older 150R not the new one.
