    @nitesh,samarth
Yes i agree .My analogy is a bit misleading.
My point is these especially race derived bikes share much r&d with motogp, sbkchampionship, superbikes. So i feel its not fair to burden the r&d charges with mass bike segment.
R15 and cbr250r are even now seen as premium bikes when we have super bikes here and i think mostly companies are thinking to make a quick buck.
I want to know the level of localization in these bikes.
    I hope cbr150r undercuts price of r15.
Any confirmation about launch date or any spy pics(i know its shown but any testing going on)?
Whenever i see bikes or cars i see adrenalin pumps instead of people carriers.Thats the way to define an automobile.

Go to your nearest Honda showroom and ask for yourself. Everybody knows its due this April!

Thanks.I generally follow autocar and OD websites.I don't remember reading about launch date.
Anyway whats the problem bajaj and honda pushing launch to april.Suspecting about some policy changes about two wheelers in budget(never heard of it either)?

I saw a Honda CBR150R and the new Honda Deo being ridden near my house in pune(My Wings Honda Showroom, Kothrud Depot, pune) 3days back
the bike looks the same as 250R but scaled down...
I asked the honda showroom when is it launching and what's the cost..
He said that the launch date is not yet confirmed but it will cost around 1.2lac...
          sorry i couldnt take pics..

          • 1.2L is definitly over priced for this bike.

            • ^dont buy it. Shoot a mail to Honda suggesting them to reduce the price to something more appropriate.;-)

If it's true then Honda has already lost it. With P200NS, Duke 200 and possibility for P200FS, i'm not sure what kind of sales they are targetting for CBR150, but 1.2 lakhs is highly unrealistic in this market for a CBR150.

                  Its realistic...isn't Yamaha R15 not selling?...almost of same price/features....

As for loosing with P200ns (which has not launched till date)....let see results after 1 year....

                  • No r15 sales has been reduced after the launch of V2 due to poor pillion seat & high Price... The CBR 150R is better but should be priced lower...1.2 Lakhs is not Reasonable.

I highly doubt the above claim. Is there any proof to support the above bolded lines?

really? what makes you think so? certainly R15 is selling, but wait for another 6 months, you will clearly see it's sales going down due to new launches. Clearly CBR150's performance can't even beat R15, so for sure it can't be compared to P200/Duke. Only section of buyers that would be going for CBR150, even if it's priced at 1.2 lakhs are those who wanted to buy R15, but couldn't due to it's rear seat. So, it all boils down to how many wanted an R15 with an useable pillion seat or perhaps who wanted to buy a Honda in that price range.

There is no proof of anything as long as we do not get monthly sales figures from ALL 2-Wheeler manufacturers like TBHP does with the 4 Wheelers. xBHP, I suppose, has deep connections with most companies, how hard is it to source model-wise factory dispatches data from all of them every month?

@vrugonnab Till this is done, we will never know what bike is actually doing well which ones are sales duds. It will be all fun and games and speculations till then with no concrete data to prove anything even after, say, 6 months.

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

                          • In that case there is no point making statements that sales of a certain model has/is going down.. unless there is some proof/links.

Anyway, with the CBR150R looking nearly identical to the CBR250R, how much of a cannibalization would take place.

Agreed, we don't know exact sales numbers. It was just a hunch based on the information that R15 so far didn't have enough competition. But, now with Duke & P200NS and probably P200FS, R15's market is going to be squeezed. It might take a hit in sales.

In a way, it's much like original CBZ, which had great fan following and then suddenly with P150/P180, it went only down hill from there. Besides, I don't think Yamaha can improve R15 from here, they probably did whatever they could. So, in a way competition knows what they need to target.

Nothing to take away from R15, it's a great bike, but with products like Duke/P200, it's easy to attract buyer as they come across as excellent VFM.

                              • Going by above info, Yamaha did well compared to its last month figures.

As someone said already, speculation most of the time generates amusement and at times harsh conversations / claims. Lets not do that.

R15 and CBR150R will be real competitors to each other is what I believe. Because -
                                1. Market is very dynamic
                                2. People crave for fairings than performace more (except for some who are present in online forums)
                                3. They belong to same-engine, same-power, same-class.

About, Duke 200 & Pulsar 200NS, everything else looks fine but FE. I highly doubt of 3 spark plug technology is going to add anything to FE. But since I doubt it, I would NOT speak loudly about it and let the bike do the talking when it is launched.

It often takes a humiliating overtake to understand that an early jump off the red light won't help them lead the pact. All I want to say is - Go after green.
