After reading your post, I can tell you one thing for sure, you don't understand what does "worrying for FE" mean. Let me ask you something that might make sense to you "When you started looking for bike, what was the most important criteria for you?"
Yamaha the brand. Sums it up?

If you answer this question with "mileage" then I agree that you are worried for mileage and same goes for Audi owner in your example. If not and you just wanted some thing in 1.2 lakhs and then looked for x,y, z factors along with mileage, then you are least bothered about mileage.
    Go with the latter.

Please don't give this logic and tell me a guy buying Ninja 250 is also worried about mileage, that's the reason he didn't buy Ninja 650,
    I wont.

    makes sense??
It will, once you get to what you want to say.

You wanted to own something suitable to your stature, you can afford a 150cc bike costing over 1 lakh, you know it gives less mileage when compared to other 150cc bikes such as Unicorn/SZ, but still you went ahead and booked it and then you are saying FE worries me.
Can it not? Juz cuz I buy a 1lac+ bike, I shouldn't utter a word about FE? Oh, I see you making sense now. -.-

Perhaps, with a clear mind if you read your own post you will go in splits laughing. I'm gone 'in splits laughing' reading yours.

Audi owner worried about mileage, never read anything funnier than that. He just had an option of lower running costs, he took it. He's your neighbour or mine? Dude, dont assume.

I'm sure you would've done the same thing if you had an option of Diesel R15, it's common sense. Common sense, sure as hell not common in your post.

Never intended. Humble apologies, for the same.

and please dont used the FE part to target a brand. You hate Duke, you dont buy.... but dont take potshots on people buying it.
Quote from my post, 'I love the Duke.'

And saying about the Audi owner,do you know the price difference between a petrol and diesel model? I actually do.

You buy diesel for more torque.
And even if the petrol prices exceeds rs.100,that cant take a true enthusiast away from his passions.
    Case sensitive.

BTW,no showroom here is ready to tell the expected price of the CBR. Hope it is kept under R15.
I dont hope anything, but would expect the same.
    Answers in bold.

Disclosure/Disclaimer to those pissed: I am as much in aww and under temptation to ride the Duke as anyone out here.
I'm only wondering if the low FE claims are true. If it doesnt bother you, good for you. Dont take whatever I say to be downright an offense and come picking at me. Period!

    • ^^ I will still give it another try though it reminds me of the old saying "never argue with you-know-who".

No where did I say that you can't talk about mileage, but it's not the most important criteria for you and you testified by answering to that question. So, when you make a statement like "I want to see their faces when they are filling up petrol for Duke", you know it sounds more than hilarious. These guys know what to expect from that bike. Just like you fell for R15 for what it is, they fell for Duke. They can very well say, I want to see that poor guy's face on R15, so called track bike when I just zoom past him on the road, how would you take it?? Probably you need to wake up(or get out of your pond) and smell coffee to realize that people have different priorities. For you it could be brand, mileage in that order. For others it could be simply riding pleasure and nothing else.

Cant live without having the last word and you talk about 'dont argue with bla bla blah'.

Dude, enough said. I like the Duke. Its FE is MY concern if I buy it. What's your problem? If you wanna argue,go argue with someone else, i'm bloody not interested.

Guys, chill. Lets maintain sanity of the forum and discuss not argue.

I just don't understand what's wrong if I am spending >1L on a bike and want a decent FE out of it. People here are not expecting splendor like FE from performance bikes. I don't necessarily have to buy a splendor for decent FE just the way I don't have to always race if I have R15 / CBR250R.

To explain the point better, take example of R15. It, when ripped, gives FE of 30+. But if ridden sanely it can give a decent FE of 50 as well. Basically you get what you do with it.

Now enough OT. Please just give some more information about this bike. Please ...

As for the Cbr150, I spoke to owner of the Honda showroom on Lalbagh road,Bangalore.. Uncle's best friend.. He says Honda is planning its entry on the 1st.. The prices however is still debated upon.. He says, initially the ex-show was 1.10 but the pulsarNS and the ever rising R15 sales are making them re-think..

Nobody, but you started this with silly comments on possible sad faces of Duke owners while filling up petrol & Audi owner going for diesel option. What followed was response to those comments.

They should think it over very carefully, coz P200NS is only first of products in next gen pulsar line-up. Nobody knows what else is coming. Lots of possibilities, there could be P150NS/P200FS around the corner. If P150NS comes out with 17/18 bhp power again people will start comparing it with R15/CBR150.

I've posted this earlier saying Honda's CBR150 launch isn't timed/conceived well. There is too much going on in that price bracket and going forward R15 itself may need a price cut in order to fight the competition.

That's good news if they are planning to cut its price.

You are right about bad timing of CBR150R launch. Any sane mind can safely speculate about P200FS inline which will serve (most of the) fairing hungry junta here. I am curious about the younger sibling of P200NS that people speculated. Also what was the rear drum brake version? Probably wrong question in this forum.

Anyway, let's just wait for another 45 days and picture will be more clear. Makes me wonder if Honda is really planning to bring it here, I see no scoops, no testing bikes. Was this the case with 250R too?

                • Lets do some math here (Do I like it too much? )

Assuming Mr.A Biker At Heart's friend, Mr. Audi Owner bought the cheapest Diesel Audi, The Audi A4 2.0 TDI Multitronic.

For keeping all things equal, we assume that he paid a Downpayment Equal to the price of a comparable Petrol Audi, the Audi A4 1.8 TFSI (in terms of equipment + specs) and the rest of the amount (which will help him reduce his Rs/km) was taken as a car loan.

Also Assuming that the said Diesel Audi runs for on an average 1000km/ month. According to my calculations (PM me if you are interested), it will take the Diesel Audi owner 5 years 11 months and 11 days to break-even as compared to a Petrol Audi. By that time the car would have run 71.3k km. I doubt he would keep it till then considering the amounts he will be paying to the SVC (which we did not consider) post 3rd year of ownership.

Also, the A4 1.8 TFSI is 161bhp compared to the 140 bhp A4 2.0 TDI (so 15% more power), the TFSI is also lighter (by 50 kilos) and so not to mention, considerably faster(== More Fun). The clincher is that you cannot hear the TFSI below 6k RPM, not the case with the TDI. Even modern diesels are, at best, a compromise(when compared to a 'modern' Petrol engine).

Finally, the point was, there is more to car ownership than just Rs./km of fuel money. If he was really so much interested in saving on Rs/km, he would have rented an Audi A4 cab everyday since that would eventually come out cheaper.

Coming back to 2 wheeler topic. Lets see how much poorer the person who buys a Duke 200 over a CBR150R or an R15 will be considering ONLY fuel costs and nothing else. For a fair comparison, lets consider the semi-worst case mileages for all 3 (since all 3 thrash their bikes to have maximum fun with them). Also, assuming all 3 buy their bikes outright (no finance involved).

Assumed Mileages (From what I have read over forums / gathered over talks.)
                  Petrol price : 70.91 (Pune)
                  Duke 25kmpl = 2.83 Rs./km
                  R15 35kmpl = 2.03 Rs./km
                  CBR150R 32kmpl = 2.21 Rs./km

For 1500km/month (which is a LOT for most city+weekend getaway only riders) Monthly fuel spends:
                  Duke - Rs. 4245/month
                  R15 - Rs. 3045/month
                  CBR150R - Rs.3315/month

Now what we seem to be forgetting is:
                  1. Most people don't ride that much month after month after month.
                  2. Duke is 1.6+ times as powerful as both the other bikes in this comparo so it is basically in a different segment.
                  3. Rs.1200 / Rs. 930 is a miniscule amount of money to pay (for MANY) for the fun factor and the added practicality of a non-faired bike in the city. Especially considering how much money many R15 owners are ready to spend on their bikes to get them Joel'd and even after that, the power outputs are nowhere close.
                  4. The Rs.1200/930 difference in spends/month will not make the R15/CBR150R owner filthy rich as compared to the Duke owner.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

if speedo indicates that ,it is possible,it struggles after 146.
and the question remains why do i race?

If thats true, its putting a lot of 250's to shame and which is why i doubt the speedo. Can this really be true?
Would Honda launch a 150 with a lower price tag and better performance as compared to its flagship 250?

                          • ^^ It's certainly not possible with whatever specs Indian version of CBR150R got.. it's 18bhp, 12.5NM with around 140kg weight. Rest assured, I don't think it will cross 140kmph. May be they just detuned for our mileage conscious janta.

The 150R is advertised as a sports bike and hence it will be a full on competitor for the R15.
The 250R is advertised as a sports tourer(hence the thick rear fat tyre)

Last time i said the 150R is 80% as powerful as the 250R people didnt believe me.
But yes the Indian spec will always be detuned just like they did with the 250R.
                              Thai 250Rs are @26hp. Indian 250R's at 25.

This dude Ailing has done some performance mods on 250R and 150R alike. And the 150R is on par with the 250R with minor tuning on the ECU.

                              Also @Antz.bin
From what CNB show host has said, "Honda claims 56kmpl" from the 150R
If he is true i can atleast expect a 50kmpl considering HMSI's claim of 28city 32highway was pretty much SPOT ON in the 250R posters and brochures.

Also i have always wanted to ask those people here who are comparing the 150R/R15 with Dukes on this forum for quite sometime now claiming "Pricing" as the factor for such silly comparisions.
IIRC the RE is also in the same price bracket as the R15/CBR150R. Now why isnt anyone comparing the Bullet with these bikes? Hypocrisy much?
