hey congrats dude! i know u will not be reading posts for sometime now! but plz do post some nice pics in ownership thread!!!!Originally posted by MeTaL_MaNiaC View PostGuys!!! Finally the wait is over for me.. I got my red cbr today evening and did around 25kms on it.. So far.. Amazing.. I have a few issues.. But those are only me getting used to.. The bike is all fine.. No oil leak.. Temp ok.. Gearshifts smooth.. Clutch super silk.. Few things i found difficult were the rpm drops very quickly when you clutch..which i find difficult as i use a lot of clutch.. The bike is a delight on potholes..my sis as a pillion said "is this the same road we travel everyday on our pulsar??" takes bad roads with great ease.. Though nose dives a lot.. I dint expect but it does.. Braking is responsive and not over eager as my p180.. Dint take it above 5k rpm as run-in but the bikes character changes after 4k.. Once tempted i just pulled the throttle and the accelaration was more than i expected.. Looks great at night..esp the console.. There was a haar (garland) over the headlight but still the light was decent enough.. (i find pulsars light sufficient and this was definately better) the bike doesnt feel heavy when on it.. And me being just 5'6 the seat height height and leg reach is perfect.. As i still not adapted completely to this new riding position, i felt a slight pressure on my right palm.. But it was just on the right palm.. So would chech for alingnment tommorow..more impressions tommorow as i would be spendind my whole day with and for it tomorrow..

Guys!! have been reading about this knocking issue with CBRs. What do you all think could be the problem. Maybe we can just speculate.Originally posted by jerk View Post

I was riding it around 3 30 PM (The Red ABS one). And couple of guys who rode after me also mentioned the knocking issue. Maybe someone messed it up.
Could it be the fuel, did someone really mess it up or is it bad tuning (as the showroom person says)

Buddy I clearly said that "if the news is true" about HONDA accepting the quality issues.Originally posted by vikyk View PostI believe even in thailand bike didn't complete the 20k thing. So, what to say. Who said honda accepted it and working towards? No source except a anonymous person. Ah, it doesn't make any change more than a rumor.
And if we can not believe the words of a fellow "anonymous"
Xbhpian (which we should not be until a trusted source is there) then we can not believe your words as well about the 20K issue with the engine probelm because there is no source except an anonymous person
Anyways on a more serious note we should wait and watch as now few of the xbhpians are getting hold of there bikes and we certainly can expect some nice reviews coming in.
@Metal: Congrats Mate!! Finally you got your biscuit

Not directed at you Mahesh, posting this for those who want an idea of the price of ninja spares.Originally posted by maheshkmr View PostIt is not like that. Ninja parts are very expensive. More than the vehicles cost. Rear alloy alone costs 26 k. Single rear view mirror is around 2.8 k. Tank is around 40 k and the exhaust is over 50k. One of my friends ninja crashed (around 50% damage) and he got an estimate of 4.5 lacs.
Please see the ninja ownership thread. Detailed list of spares with cost is posted there.
The end can (stock) costs 18k and not 50k. For 50k one can get a full system exhaust from two brothers or yoshi and still save around 10k.
The estimates from PBK in the event of an accidental repair will always be high as the insurance co. will play hard to minimize its liability.
In the above case, the bike would have been declared total loss if the claim exceeded 80% of the value of the bike. This is standard across most insurance co's.ATGATT - Because hospital ceilings are boring !!!

They really don't care.
So, I decided to get a P220 for time being and now getting the CBR because it can easily handle all my requirements. A couple of years down the line and a 1000cc will be in my garage.
What makes you think the liter bike will be any cheaper than the ninja to own and maintain? (Not intending to be rude, please dont take offence).Originally posted by HH_HUNK View PostSame story for me but the only diff here is I cant get a Ninja so I am going for a CBR and next upgrade will be a 600CC and then a liter class SBK
AFAIK, Yamaha charges 4k for labor alone during regular service. This I heard first hand from an R1 owner who is also a member here.
Its not just buying and riding but maintaining to pristine levels that cost an arm, a leg, a kidney and a lung when it comes to liter bikes.
Also the bigger bikes will get more attention, deliver lesser miles per gallon, cost a gazzillion amount to maintain, service and ride, and if you crash, you might not be able to ride again, let alone spend a bomb on repairing it and riding it again. And of course, you obviously can't tour with it like you would on a CBR or a ninja. After spending a year with my ninja and over 12000 kms later i feel this bike is best for our highways. Anything over this is an overkill and the risk multiplies. You can whack the throttle open, perform mid corner corrections, ride at the seat of your pants etc. which is very forgiving on the 250 but anything above and its a disaster in the making.
That said, please chase your dreams... take my view with a pinch of salt.

LOL. Which car for 3.2 lacs? The Alto K10? Even with a 10 second head start the alto would lose hands down.Originally posted by aargee View PostYea and the 3.2L car will be smoked out by the bike in 1st gear!!!
Incidentally when i took delivery of my ninja and went to tank up, the petrol bunk attendant said the very same thing to me. 3 lacs for a bike? You could have bought a car for that money. I replied that a car wouldn't go this fast for the same amount of money and of course the fun factor would be, well, non existent.

On the spare parts front is the CBR economic on pockets ???Originally posted by maheshkmr View PostIt is not like that. Ninja parts are very expensive. Morethan the vehicles cost. Yes. CBR250 parts are localized, hence cost will be significantly lower compared to the ninja spares.Originally posted by ankurjain View PostOn the spare parts front is the CBR economic on pockets ???
I'd love to see if that hugger fits on the ninja without any modifications.ATGATT - Because hospital ceilings are boring !!!

Many of my friends also have asked the same thing - "Why don't to buy a car, than spending 1.7L on a bike?"Originally posted by n_aditya View PostIncidentally when i took delivery of my ninja and went to tank up, the petrol bunk attendant said the very same thing to me. 3 lacs for a bike? And I reply exactly the same thing.
When they can ask like this for a 1.7L bike, I can understand how it's for you when people talk to you about your purchase.Sudeep P Nambiar

Lol. One of my friends has a comet GT250 and when asked for the price he said 80k to avoid such conversation and comparisons.Originally posted by sudeepnbr View PostMany of my friends also have asked the same thing - "Why don't to buy a car, than spending 1.7L on a bike?"

The other party was quick to respond and quipped,
you'll get a second hand omni for that price.

Forget about cars, when i stopped by at some village during one of my rides, one person told me that i was mad to spend so much on a bike. For this much money i could have bought a site in his village.

A friend rode it for a 1000KMs and hasnt complained on the 'build quality issues' being posted here.
Yes he did complete his 1000KMs in like a day after the delivery, so build issues if any would have shown! Google around for the review....Super CommuTOURer - Talk less, Ride more

3.2L, why take a brand new carOriginally posted by n_aditya View PostLOL. Which car for 3.2 lacs? The Alto K10? Even with a 10 second head start the alto would lose hands down.

BTW, let me clarify, the 1st gear I referred was the 1st gear of N250R & not the car.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle
