Tyre grip is not only dependent on the size of the tyre used, weight of the motorcycle also plays an equal role. And a thinner tyre cannot be always stickier when the motorcycle weight or power is increased. For a thinner tyre the area of contact is less. If the tyre size is kept unchanged and the motorcycle weight or its power is increased obviously the little contact area will be overstressed and may result in poor grip and early tyre wear out.
In the R15 case either there must be increase in the weight or power to justify the little bigger rear tyre or may be just for cosmetics sacrificing some performance.

So my point is the tyre for every motorcycle with performance in mind will have optimum size considering the weight and power of the motorcycle, too thin would result in traction issue and too fat affects the performance.
Putting the R15r tyres on a CBR will make quick around corners ? - jus kidding .
I agree with you in this point. But still in my view CBR feels like a bigger bike than the revamped R15. Again, yeah looks are subjective.

Where you booked GT650R? Is there any garware dealership in cochin? What is the on road price? How abt service?

Yes they almost finalised dealer in Cochin will be up in another 10 - 15 days on road it is 5.5 laks they assured 3 S (Sales,Service & Spares) once the dealer is up in Cochin.

A Himalayan ride planned very soon. Eager to see how it performs on the twisties and altitudes above 10,000 feet!

Sure, thats actually a good idea to know how the bike performs in extreme conditions and lack of proper oxygen. The FI should take care of everything, nevertheless good one. When you heading there?

I got an update from Praveen as he is in Silicon RV road paying money for his Bike. He contacted Ijaz (Exe from silicon RV road) there and he said that my bike is in transit (outskirts) and he will be getting the bike by tomorrow once he does the PDI, he shall call me for the payment. Anyway my money is ready, will pay the cash so that the delivery process is faster.

My bike will be arriving next week. Tank pads are shipped. AGV arrived. What else....

I would be getting my bike on monday evening most probably. No accessories at all with the bike. I have asked the silicon guys to put a seat cover.. and they are charging 350 rs for that. Have asked them not to put the number plates as I would be getting a HSNP style one fixed later on. I hope I will not have any trouble with the traffic cops for not having a number plate on the bike till the time I get the new one.

BTW.. there was a std silver bike kept for display. Saw the silver one for the first time today and I didnt like the colour, although it would provide some exclusivity as I dont think there are too many bookings for that colour.

I feel you need to keep the old number plate till you get the HSNP one. It is safer and helps you to avoid any confrontation with the cops. Later you can remove the old and fix the new one.

BTW, where are you getting the HSNP done and how much will it cost?

Why a seat cover? The seat covers from the dealers with their name on it would look really ugly on the bike. It's just my personal feeling. It'll spoil the whole look. If I was you, I would never do. But then, it's just me.
I know a place where it's done. Total cost will be 450/- (200 for the front, 250 for the rear). I'll be getting it done (only rear) next week once my bike arrives. PM me if you need details.

They are charging 150 rs for the number plates. So I asked them not to put the number plate. An original HSNP one will cost a lot. What we see on most vehicles is just a look alike. That would cost around 400-450 for both front and back for a bike. I got it done from a shop near jayanagar 4th T block for my car and it cost me 850 Rs for both front and back.

I checked the seat cover on a CBR before paying money. It does not have the dealers name on it and it looks ok.
I am also planning to get only the rear plate done. Will use a sticker in the front.

Checked with honda guy (rajiv) for other dealer deliveries; he said 25 have been delivered across Delhi, mostly from the display lot. My dealer offered me from the two display bikes he had got; but I figured that they would have first tried it themselves plus all the quality issues etc I was reading about in this forum and elsewhere, so I decided to wait for the delivery lot. NowI think it was a mistake; I wouldhave got my bike almost a month ago. Dealer promptly offered it number 2 in the booking list...and still hasn't got the delivery lot.

I agree. To be honest, I feel jealous when I read people who have booked sometime 15thJan or later have got their bikes and here I am, 1st Jan booking but yet to get it, it hurts. Icing was the Guwahati dealership that got 10 bikes in one ago. Saw pictures a few pages ago. After some time sanity prevails and I wish happy and safe riding to everyone who has got it. I have decided to let it be and hoping some day I will get the coveted phone call telling me that your bike has arrived. Till then, wait continues.

In terms of follow-up, I have been a monkey on my dealer's back for last 4 week (moreso since I have made the full payment when the display bikes arrived).

got a call from some honda guy today afternoon...he told he was calling to respond to my mail & told the deliveries are taking time due to high demand...& i'll be getting my bike in July . . to which i asked 'are you sure you're talking abt July & not June?'...he said 'Yes Sir..July...you'll get the bike in July'. I just said OK & disconnected the call.

I think they're testing my patience now.
