1.25 lakh would be killer pricing IMO.. from what Rajiv Bajaj said on KTM pricing (double that of pulsars).. we can safely assume that this would be priced right up there with CBR non-ABS version!

@90k it will start cannibalizing P220 sales . 1.1/1.15 lac was just about correct pricing.. Far enough from both CBR and P220. Direct competition to R15 That would be very nice pricing for a product which has everything the R15 doesn't.. i.e. Phat tyre and good Power and Torque figures.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

                  • Does anyone have the specs of KTM 200? (including the color shades and the acceleration, bhp etc?)
What about its throttle response? Will it be a performance bike like the apache?
I'm expecting it to be ~1.4lakh. Its better to spend 1.4 on a fully refined 200cc then spending 90k on a 200cc which performs like a p200
                    Apache 180

                          Sounds confusing

Is the 125cc Duke a focused off-roader with more torquey output than usual ???

I am just pondering over the top speed of a 15PS bike !!!!
It cannot be 100mph(160kmph) for just a 15PS bike, so the possibility of typo error can be ruled out.But that doesn't mean that it would do only 100kmph !!!

Maybe it is a very different kind of bike.It reminds me of those torque friendly Enfields, which has big engines, high bhp but low top speeds.Only that the KTMs are way lighter.

An interesting bike anyway, would like to find the segment it targets or opens up !!

Somebody should make this message sticky:

                            Not all KTM's are Off-Roaders..!!

Duke's are Street Models from KTM

The Baby Duke is a Street Bike with the looks/attitude of an Off Roader

An Off Roader will have Off road tyres. If there are any doubts then just take a look at the tyre of the KTM Baby Duke. They are slick and meant for street riding.

An Off Roader will have a Flat tank with the seat extending over it: The bulky tank shape of the Baby Duke is meant for ugging it with the knees while Street Riding.

Wow, I find this is an over reaction..........

I supposedly was confused over the stated specification and forgot the Duke 690 and Superduke 990 were street bikes.

Anyway, thanks for reminding me, though it does little to clear my curiosity that how can a 15PS engine deliver such low top end, unless it has a very meaty torque curve, shorter gear ratios and high final drive ratio......all aimed at one thing, massive acceleration.

I however assume the Duke 200 would be differently configured.

Then again how much does a 15 ps P150 deliver? Somewhere around 120 kmph including speedo error. So what is so surprising? 15 ps is after all 15 ps at the end of the day.
