              What I feel is since

The KTM makes 15 bhp at 10K plus rpm with 12 NM of torque at 8000 rpm and has a 6 speed transmission (according to KTM 125 official website)

As an Apples to apples comparison, FZ makes 14 bhp at 7500 rpm and 14 NM of torque at 6000 RPM and weighs 127 kg. The R15 makes 17 bhp at 8500 rpm and 15 NM at 7500 RPM and has a 6 speed transmission and weighs 120 kg. The P220 makes 21 bhp at 8500 rpm, 19 NM torque at 7000 rpm, 5 speed tranmission but weighs a whole freaking 150 kg.

If the 125 is launched, it sort of looks like it will end up finding a slot between the FZ and R15. Best of both worlds sorts. And if its a 200 cc 22-25 bhp one and weighs 130 kg as speculated, it might be able to inch past the R15 and 220.

I'm considering these specs for street use, everyday traffic scenarios and weekend rides. Not track use. So am not counting the chassis and technical jhing jhang that R15 brings along and assuming that the larger buyer base wont exactly have knee down skills.

What will be a key thing here will be, pricing, after sales service(its almost as good or as bad for one brand in India when compared to another right now) and quality of engine and other parts in comparison to say a Yamaha or Honda.

If all of this goes well, then Bajaj clearly has a killer at hand. However as most of us have guessed it already, the price will be over a lakh. They dont want to kill their great selling fastest indian with a new 200 baby by pricing it in the same range.

Looks like Bajaj is aiming at hitting too many birds with one big KTM stone.

              • Theres another one behind what looks like the p135...its the one without the split seats and split grab rails...

PS: Indians dont buy the bike for bhp... and bajaj has learnt it the hard way!

Aah yes. The Fat tires and beefy looks along with a jazzy orange sells like hot cakes. FZ stands as a testament to it. If the feb autocar news story about R15 is also true then, Yamaha must be like, Yea so we have given Indians a track tool. Except for a bunch of smart blokes who loiter around xbhp and southern race tracks, everyone else is dazzled by the fairing but complains on thin tires. Lets get those in in the next iteration.

I take my full of specs analogy back from a larger cust base point of view. Even otherwise, for whats coming our way with KTM it is a happy world for people like us.

PS: sorry for sounding a bit OT, but this was worth a mention

On a technical level yes but from a pricing prespective it is definitely going to be priced equal to or greater than the R15.Anything less and it will start eating into Pulsar sales which Bajaj doesn't want.

The Power to Weight ratio of the P220 is still the highest.

A Supermoto (the motorcycle category closest to the Baby Duke) is not meant to get one's Knee Down.
Supermotos are traditionally built for track + slight off road racing, but with a totally different style of cornering.

Anyway, lets see if the Baby Duke is a true Supermoto or a Street bike with Supermoto attitude.

Does have a BIG appeal. The best part is... even the West is appreciating the build quality that has been achieved by Bajaj for this machine.
