    • Check this out.According to this article the KTM bike in the picture is indeed the 200cc version.

It is going to be an India specific model.Making over 20bhp.Priced between 1.25 and 1.5 lacs.No launch dates specified.

I will let others decide whether this is indeed 100% true.(because there is another indian site mentioned in the article which i do not trust).

Is this the KTM 200 Duke? The folks at OverDrive.in were fortunate enough to encounter in Pune what looks like a pre-production KTM Duke destined for the Indian market. Taking the photo above, OverDrive wasn't certain if this was the KTM 125 Duke that the Austrian company launched at Intermot this year, or if it was a larger displacement version that's been rumored to be coming from the minds of Bajaj & KTM. Luckily the guys at IndianCarsBikes.in were able to get Rajiv Bajaj on the line and ask him about the photo, and the son of the Bajaj empire confirmed that what we see here is the 200cc KTM 200 Duke that will be an India-only model.

      • pulsar 250?

What caught my eye in the 'spy' pic is not the KTM - but those Pulsar 135 nearby. Are they P135? or are they P250? their rear tyres look too fat for 135..... or is it the mudflap causes optical illusion?

perhaps some photo-zooming expert on xbhp can investigate and publish your results....

it seems more likely dat its a 200cc...
dunno y but the looks of it tells me so...see the engine its huge for a 125cc( noticing the fact that it ought to be a LC engine so no need of those air chambers, that add to the size, for heat dissipation)

Reportedly a deal hatched between KTM and Bajaj, the Indian market will get a slightly larger version of the new Duke, which will be liquid-cooled, have DOHC, and be positioned on the premium side of the market equation.
Expected to make over 20hp (the KTM 125 Duke makes 15hp), Indians wanting the extra power and styling of the new Duke will have pay for it. IndianCarsBikes estimates the KTM 200 Duke will cost between INR 1.2 to INR 1.5 Lakh ($2,600-$3,600), which is a healthy sum over 125cc naked bikes currently available in the country. For nearly double the cost of Bajaj’s Pulsar, the KTM 200 Duke makes up for its higher price tag with better components, and of course the extra dollars the KTM brand commands.

                          • The only thing which concerns me about the bike is the performance. How much quick/fast will it be, because the price tag which it might sport(1 lakhs plus) should justify it otherwise the bike wouldnt set the cash registers ringing for Bajaj.

No fairing means premium paid is unjustified-- Rejected by Posers
Unjustified performance in comparison to 220ccs of yore--Rejected by Performance Enthusiasts.

So, i could see only a 'tiny' part of the biking populace who are enamored by the KTM Brand going ahead and buying the bike without any hitch.

The KTM brand brings along "Off Road Genes" and a "Different Kind of Biking experience". After riding our "desi" type of sports (kinda) bikes, I am now itching for the KTM experience.

"No fairing + Exotic Off road genes" is making the Baby Duke more appealing to me.

Somehow the KTM isn't appealing to me... Although I would love to test ride it somehow it isn't growing on me... There is no real excitement within, if u know what I mean...
