Not 2 years, but atleast the launch is not going to happen in 2011 (which means 1 year) I guess.Originally posted by payeng View PostSounds logical.
KTM 200 2 years away? Who said so?
Pulsar 250..?? Who said so?
Now don't go on believing the baseless speculations of amateur sites/blogs.

Saw the 125 in flesh
Date : 10/12/10
time : 12.00 pm
place : lonavala pune highway about 45 kms from the highway
So heres the story I was on my way to pune and on the left hand side of the road i saw a bike all covered in semi transparent plastic with orange color body high rear, fat tyres and on test written on the number plate. I slowed down he was riding at about 40kmph as soon as i took my phone out of my pocket he stopped me and said sir please dont click pics i will be in a big problem.
And he said that in marathi, so I asked him is this KTM he said no sir bajaj KTM 125, and I asked him when is it coming he said it is only for Australia. Was wearing a bluish bajaj uniform and was sounding a local guy from there itself. I think he meant to say Austria. I dont know about the 200 but if my eyes are to be believed the duke 125 i saw was a finished product and am really excited it looks imported guys the build looks so international trust me this bike despite of being a 125 will have tons of takers coz it looks awesome!!!!!!!!
Cheers

The bike is essentially for developed markets, hence its expected that the build and quality will be upto international standards.
According to me the KTM 200 Duke will appeal to a "niche segment" of bikers in India, the one's for whom biking is beyond a full fairing.
The KTM 125 Duke might look awesome but a 200 cc and 24 Ps KTM 200 Duke sounds ever better.

even with international quality , the problem will be pricing. price it 20k lower than honda 250 or so called rumoured yamaha 250 (purely speculative) and even the niche segment will not buy it.Originally posted by payeng View PostThe bike is essentially for developed markets, hence its expected that the build and quality will be upto international standards.

I feel 1.2-1.25 ex showroom for this bike is good , assuming honda 250 will be 1.5ex showroom.sigpicThe Moto Cafe - India's first bike theme cafe @ Chandni Chowk

I kinda agree, if the KTM is priced around the Cebeer then it would mean a confusion filled call!Originally posted by niks_devil666 View Posteven with international quality , the problem will be pricing. price it 20k lower than honda 250 or so called rumoured yamaha 250 (purely speculative) and even the niche segment will not buy it.

Like I said elsewhere, it would be tough for a lot of people to have a 'pale-non-fairing" skinny bike to be approved by father\sister\girl friend\wife
moreso due to the fact that there is a visually bigger bike at a few grands away.
Speaking individually though, If this is priced at 110-140.. I am in the line with my eyes closed!Super CommuTOURer - Talk less, Ride more

If this bikes gets released in a decent time, I may go for it than CBR. I am already waiting a little long for my first bike ... 2011 End ? Well then CBR I suppose ... But if Honda makes it last minute "chin chong kong" last minute price hike ... Then "Sign" waiting will be the only option ... As far as it seems ... It may come in Mid 2011's ... End 2011 kinda seems too long right ?
Its Bajaj, I can expect a decent pricing ... Moreover Bajaj is very much (trying to) improve its after sales department ... I have been seeing quite a few ads by Bajaj, Wanting for dealers and service center spaces at various parts of TN (Yes, The newspaper).
About the fairing's ... Well its true, Well I showed my paaps the CBR and KTM pic's ... He said nothing but choose the CBR, Just dunno why, But I love them naked
SO KTM ... My go
And I will be behind you, Seriously!Originally posted by satyenpoojary View PostI Speaking individually though, If this is priced at 110-140.. I am in the line with my eyes closed!Last edited by BladeBoy; 12-10-2010, 08:36 PM.2011 - CBR 250R (RED, Delivered) - Happy Man! - SOLD

Yeah but the price difference would make it easy to bargain!

You do have a point.Originally posted by niks_devil666 View Posteven with international quality , the problem will be pricing. price it 20k lower than honda 250 or so called rumoured yamaha 250 (purely speculative) and even the niche segment will not buy it.

But think about it- it was said earlier that not much is being upgraded from the KTM 125. The Chassis, wheelbase, and even the crankshaft is safe enough for higher speeds. Basically that means that only some parts would be upscaled from the KTM 125.
It would be rebored, some changes to Fi, mapping, etc. and that would be it.
Rajiv Bajaj realized long ago that 125 is not what "we, the bikers" wanted. This was a good move, to rebore the almost-square engine to 200cc.
With less changes, we can still expect a tag of 1.1L something, I think.---
