Precisely my point; when there're so many other ways to increase the income, why choose only fuel?

Even when the rupee reached 44 (43.8 to be precise) the Congress was in power...

Today I read a TOI article about Beijing`s traffic management in paper. Cars with particular reg no should only travel in road on particular days in a week. If they dont follow, they have to pay a fine of 200Yuan. Its for controlling the car traffic in the city. Chinese are so different.

Yea Chinese enforce and make the people forcefully follow rules. Atleast our guv will never do that. Did anybody in the world think like that? But still they save a lot of money for the people

sorry for going out of OT. There is not much we can do about the petrol rise. But i wish the diesel price shud not skyrocket like petrol.

In that case people with lot of cash could afford more than one car which are registered in such a way that they car go to work by car everyday again its the middle class who would get affected if it is implemented in our country

Of course thats possible but what they are encouraging is carpooling. This was done in Singapore much before Chinese govt. tried it. By increasing fuel prices, so is GOI but not as aggressively as yet.

What this also helps reduce is traffic congestion and further increase FE for everyone.

As for the econocommuter spending 400 more on fuel every month, that would take around 3200km/month to achieve (i.e. 105+km/day, 123 if you consider a 26 day month). With that kind of running, he would have other things on his mind (like his spinal cord) more than the 400 extra on fuel.

This is utter rubbish...if govt. only decides to remove one tax(VAT) of out the many many taxes it levies on petrol...petrol would become a bit cheaper...

Now i wish i stayed in GOA...Rs 62/lts....

Atleast Im close to Pondicherry, if i plan to goto my native, ill fill up there I save atleast some money!
But diesel prices affect everything. IT turmoils everything (basic commodities, food products,construction costs,etc) Last time I saw Beans cost was Rs54/kilo

The Govt. is worse than I thought. Currently I thought their plan was to hike the petrol price by 7.5 rs and then reduce it by 1-2 rs to shut everyones mouth but it seems to be that they will reduce they price by 1.2rs on petrol and instead hike the cng price by 1.8rs (this is for Delhi only). Isnt there anything that can be done? This will only get worse as time passes.

Some think that with recent increase in petrol price, its only 200-400 rupees extra per month, which is not that unbearable. We are forgetting that fuel price has increased more than 20 rupees in the last year, which is very high. Its the 20 rupees increase that hurts and make a common man's budget go haywire and its a huge burden.
