  • Yesterday took TD of GT650R , The ride was a small around 500 meters so was not able to push it much but one thing is for sure that Bike does not vibrates much.

I handed over the bike to Mohit after that 500 meters ride becoz i have a tendency or i can say habit to redline a bike ( i have ridden my 220 and 180 and redlining them was never an issue ) . Here also during my ride i opened the throttle hard twice and was pushed back due to sudden rush of torque , that made me a bit scared and I understood that i have to respect the machine and it's power.

Then Mohit rode it and i was sitting pillion ,He opened the throttle and bike touched 100 very quickly and had lot more to go it 3 gear , Then he rode it at 50-60 Km/hr in 4th and 5th gear and it was cruising easily.

To summarize my small TD experience,
The riding position is good it gives you a feel that you are on a sportsbike, power delivery is awsome ( as expected from a 70 bhp machine ) , Braking is also good . One think that i didn't like much is the clutch feel it's bit on a heavier side but it is not too much of a concern for me.

I am now just waiting for Ninja becoz don't wanna spend 5.5 lac with out looking at all good options ( rather only two options ).

Guys can you highlight any advantage of ninja over GT apart from better build quality and brand value.

        • Autocar India mentioned that GT650R idles erratically, the revs often settling only as high as 3k rpm & the FI system suffers from problem that result in far from smooth power delivery. And this is what Zigwheels says,"The throttle response is awfully jerky with an on/off feel even with slightest variation on the throttle grip. And as the speed increases, the jerkiness due to the fuelling stops being just a twinge and grows to be a major quandary playing havoc with your lines, judgement and hence, safety". So did any of you felt the same during test rides?

Vibes were normal not much to bother me while riding,
I never felt it , even when mohit rode it and i was sitting pillion , he pushed it and slowed down in traffic but I never felt any jerkiness .Throttle response was always linear with a MAD rush of torque to scare me.
I am not a great FAN of hyosung and yet to finalize between Ninja and GT but now i am getting feeling that these are biased review just to tarnish the image of GT.
Things that i find true are inferior Build quality as compared to Japs and a bit heavy clutch .

If anyone has any doubt , please ride it , we are the best to judge what we wants from a bike.

              • Bangalore showroom is likely to open up on Lavelle road just opposite Ducati. Might take a couple of months. The Ducati dealer will handle Hyosung as well.

The source is the Ducati manager and a representative from Garware who had come over to Bangalore. Had a chance for a small talk on the biking scene.

                • Any price revisions in the GT650?

Zig Wheels report said that the Ninja 650R is priced at 4.5L ex-showroom Pune, while the GT650 is priced at 4.69L.

Awesome pricing by Bajaj and this makes the market better for us.

It all depends on what you are looking out for! If touring is your preference, the Ninja 650R will suit you to the tee. Strong engine, no vibes, exceptional build quality, brilliant seating position, ability to cruise at 160-180 with no fuss (given the roads for these speeds). Not sure on what kind of appetite it has but given its reputation as a sports tourer, it should be relatively economical.
Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

I reached approx 75 km/hr and was in second gear , the stretch was empty but was a bit narrow so i took no chances pushing it more.
When mohit rode it and i was sitting pillion he reached 98 km/hr .

How is your experience with all three GT's , can you brief about your riding impression . I have never ridden a bike more than 20Bhp bike before and this was first time a rode a 70 bhp bike , so can't assess it's ability fully.

Nope, he was not aware of any revision. When asked, his reply was more diplomatic in terms of both the bikes being different and catering to different customers and all that stuff.

Is the price confirmed for the bigger Ninja? Am not a big fan of Zig Wheels. 4.5L ex-showroom is too good to be true.

So, looks like there'll be another addition to your garage

Even I had a test ride of the GT in Gurgaon with Mohit and my impressions are:
                            Positives
                            1) the bike had reasonable grunt (specially for someone upgrading from any of the Indian bikes)
                            2) the brakes seemed to be adequate (a piglet came in front @80kph, and had to brake hard)
                            3) despite it's weight the bike turned well
                            4) no excessive vibes were felt @7500rpm
                            5) sounds nice
                            Negatives
                            1) the bike is heavy
                            2) gear shift experience was not quite upto the mark(cannot pinpoint anything)
                            3) could find neutral only after 4-5 attempts
                            4) switch gear quality seemed poor

The bike has a sporty riding position and will put some strain on the wrists, but should not be a problem, it is still comfortable overall.
It was a very short ride and the road was not conducive for a test ride of such a bike to make any real sense out of it.
Kudos to Hyosung for providing test rides. I don't think Kawasaki will show the same courtesy to it's prospective customers.

Thanks bro for the short but yet good informative review for a noob like me in the big bike world. 4.5L for Kawasaki seems to be very tempting.
Very welcome to Bajaj and Hyosung for bringing these beautiful yet affordable bikes. At least my wait to own a big bike has been reduced to a couple of years shorter.
